Plan B or Plan A?
Many women across the world have heard of Plan B or the morning after pill which is an over-the-counter contraceptive pill. As a woman who believes in the right to choose but also values life, many believe this could be the answer to many controversial issues in the United States today. Plan B is currently sold in the US to help women prevent pregnancy within 72 hours after unprotected sexual intercourse. It prevents implantation of the fertilized egg to the uterus by altering its lining. Which any egg has to be implanted for the fetus to grow. This pill is not use or attended for abortion and does not harm the fetus if accidentally taken in early pregnancy. It has no impact on ectopic pregnancies, which is when the fetus grows outside the uterus wall. It has become the standard method used up to this day in most countries. Plan B is simply a way for women who are not ready to be mothers to have a second chance. Although Plan B has been available in the United States for years, it can now be sold over-the-counter to women 18 and older or if prescribed by a doctor 11 and up.
If you risk having unprotected sex than most likely your ready to have kids if not, use protection. Many women avoid getting the morning after pill due to embarrassment and having to have prescription from a doctor until recently the Food and Drug Administration approved the over-the-counter drug which is known as Plan B or the morning after pill. Other risks this because there’s ways to get out of it like abortion or Plan B but in some cases Plan A. In some cases Plan B is Plan A for instants if a women got raped and didn’t want anyone to know and it was unprotected she might want to hand...

On June 7th 1965, married couples in the State of Connecticut received the right to acquire and benefit from contraceptive devises. In a majority decision by the United States Supreme Court, seven out of the nine judges believed that sections 53-32 and 54-196 of the General Statues of Connecticut , violated the right of privacy guaranteed by the Fourteenth Amendment. The case set precedence by establishing marital (and later constitutional) privacy, and had notable influence on three later controversial ruling=s in Roe v. Wade (1973), Bowers v. Hardwick (1986) and Planned Parenthood of S.E. Pennsylvania v. Casey (1992) . The issue at hand was, and is still, one that still causes debate, wether a state has the authority to restrict the use and sale of contraceptives. Though it is not contraceptives, anymore, that is at the heart of the abortion debate, this ruling was the first step to the expectation of constitutional privacy.
When legally introduced to society in 1960, the Pill stirred up a long period of controversy. The availability of the Pill had great impact on women’s health, social life, laws, religion, family, relationships, morality and sexuality. Initially conceived to be highly effective and safe, the Pill left many women with side effects – few which led to several fatalities. Before the Pill was created, many women postponed sex due to the social norm and fear of becoming pregnant before marriage. Families grew large and it was typical for a woman to have multiple children caused by the lack of birth control. Due to regulations, such as the Comstock laws, many people supported the prohibition of the Pill and other family planning practices. However, many women believed in the right to control their own body when it came to procreation. Despite the controversies, the Pill left lasting impacts, such as by opening society to the sexual revolution and...
The emergency contraception pill (ECP), most commonly known as “the morning-after pill,” is a back-up birth control method that is used after unprotected sex, contraceptive failure, or rape. It prevents pregnancy from occurring, however, it is not a method for abortion nor does it protect against sexually transmitted diseases.

Mrs. Victoria Gillick is a mother of ten. Five of those are girls below sixteen years old. As a Christian, she believes that contraception promotes under age sex. In 1985, Mrs. Victoria Gillick lost her case vs. West Norfolk and Wisbech Area Health Authority allowing physicians to prescribe contraceptives to girls less than sixteen years of age without parental consent. After the case was settled, the Law Lords ruled that doctors putting girls less than sixteen years of age under pills without

Sometimes abortion happens on its own this is known as a miscarriage or spontaneous abortion. But women can also choose to end a pregnancy by getting surgery or taking medicine. There are two kinds of abortion in the United States which as in-clinic abortion or abortion pill. Starting with in-clinic abortion there is more than one procedure. The most common is called aspiration also known as vacuum aspiration and D&E “dilation and evacuation which both are usually used up to 16 weeks after a woman’s last period. An abortion pill or mifepristone is a medication that ends an early pregnancy. In general it is used up to 63 days or 9 weeks after the first day of a woman’s last period. There are a few states that limit the use of the abortion pill to 49 days. There are many reasons why women choose the pill. For example, it can be done early they can begin treatment as soon as they know they are pregnant and it is private so the process can be done at home. How safe is the in-clinic and abortion pill? Most women can have either of these done safely, but with all medical procedures have some risk, so safety is a concern. Most often, any complications can be simply treated with medicine or other

Having babies is a wonderful thing embraced by many women; however, having an unplanned one is not so nice. It is good to have an option of avoiding that, contraceptive methods can hold the pregnancy till the time is right. Thanks to John Rock, who was the first man to ever invent the birth control pill, we have the option of waiting until we are ready. Even though this sounds like a wonderful idea, there are major health risks to receiving any form of contraceptive. Even though your Gynecologist does not mention it, no birth control is truly safe.
I would argue that giving birth isn 't always the most responsible option. If a woman knows that she won 't be able to effectively take care of the child I’d say it’s more responsible of her to have an abortion and prevent them both from having a future full of hardships. People also say that if a woman had practiced safe sex and used contraception than she could have avoided it all together. According to Newsweek, a report released by the U.S Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) says that, “fewer than half of high schools and only a fifth of middle schools teach lessons on all 16 of the nationally recommended topics for sexual health education.” They also found that, “schools were least likely to teach kids how to obtain or use condoms.” This shows that not everyone is informed on how to obtain or correctly use contraceptives, so avoiding a pregnancy might not always be an
the 1965 Griswold v. Connecticut court case was a landmark case it involved the connecticut law from 1879 that banned the use of any drug used for birth control. the supreme court ruled that the use of contraceptives is protected under the right to marital privacy and government intrusion in the matter is unconstitutional. this right to decide whether or not to have a child applied only to married couples, the 1972 Eisenstadt v. Baird case changed that. in 1967 William Baird, after giving a lecture, gave a condom and a box of Emko Vaginal Foam to an unmarried 19 year old woman and ...
“One woman dies every 7 minutes around the world due to an unsafe illegal abortion” (Abortion Statistics). Laws against abortion do not stop abortion; they just make them less safe. “For over 15 years, medical evidence has indicated that mifepristone is as safe or safer than commonly used medications” (Mifepristone Safety Overview). Mifepristone, also known as “RU-486” or the “abortion pill” is a prescription drug that is used to end a pregnancy that is less than seven weeks along. Mifepristone has been used, in combination with other medications for medical abortions since 1988. Mifepristone is a steroid that works by blocking the hormone progesterone, which is necessary to sustain pregnancy. Without this hormone, the lining of the uterus breaks down, the cervix (opening of the uterus or womb) softens and bleeding begins. I think that the RU-486 abortion pill should be encouraged because taking it is a pro-choice decision, the rare health risks and it could help reduce injuries and deaths caused by unsafe illegal abortions.
In the instance of rape and incest, proper medical care can ensure that a woman will not get pregnant. The Plan B, or Morning-After Pill, is also available to the general public through a doctor. This pill creates an environment inside the woman’s womb that makes it unable to host a fertilized egg, resulting ...
