“The practice of taking someone else's work or ideas and passing them off as one's own”(Dictionary.com). Psychological Record conducted a survey that showed up to 36% of students admitted to plagiarizing. There are different types of plagiarism that may be done by students like paraphrasing or inaccurate citation. Plagiarism is wrong for a couple of reasons, such as committing fraud. When someone plagiarizes, there can be multiple consequences that will occur. Some examples of consequences for plagiarism are getting expelled from the course, your work being destroyed, or it can result in legal action. In my opinion, plagiarism is very wrong. By showing the true ability of writing, the teacher can help the student on their writing skills. When the teacher reads the students own writing and not someone else’s words that they plagiarized, the teacher can give feedback to the student and tell them what they need to work on. Giving feedback to anybody helps them review what they have worked on and then they would revise it and work on the problem areas. To follow up on, plagiarism and its consequences will help me learn from my mistakes. When I learn from my mistakes, I will always try to do better the next time I fix my mistakes. “Mistakes have the power to turn you into something better than you were before”(Unknown). People who fix their mistakes tend to realize what they did wrong and don't repeat the mistake. Last, but not least, consequences of plagiarism teach that whenever writing an essay, writing in your own words is important. It is important because using your own words helps you improve in your writing skills. Improving in writing skills helps you show your true thoughts and own writing ability. When you don't use your own skills, people may think you write on a much higher level on writing, while on the other hand you may need help with
