Nowadays, most weekend nights all you see is drunk college kids roaming the streets of Duluth. A huge controversy between young adults and older adults is whether the drinking age should be 18 or 21. Today I will be talking about what works best with my organization, some organizational changes I need to make, my effectiveness of evidence, improvements of my delivery, improvement to my style, and improvements I need to make for the future. My information on the screen worked best with my organization because it was short and simple. When keeping your information short and simple, you can use meaningful words that stick with the audience, so they can remember it. Another thing that worked best with my organization is my outline. This worked best with my organization because I could set up my PowerPoint with it so the structure of my presentation was correct. An organizational change that I need to make is taking information of the screen and put it into a note card. I noticed I was reading of the PowerPoint slides too much and that interferes with the sound of my voice to the audience. Another one is meeting the full requirements of the speech. I thought we needed 4 sources, but the requirement was 5. A change that I plan on making is finishing my presentation and then going over …show more content…
I will do this by finishing my presentation and go over the checklist, and I will make changes if needed. I also need to make note cards, so that will help me stop reading off the projector screen. I also need to make sure I enunciate and have good pronunciation of my words so I don’t mumble. I will also need to improve going into monotone as that makes the speech boring. I will also need to improve my conclusions. When I practice my speech, I tend to skip going over my conclusion and it hurts me in the long run. I need to have an impactful conclusion that the audience will remember me
Group Survey of 100 people. “Should the Legal Drinking Age Be Lowered to Eighteen?” May 25, 2000
Eastman III, Donald R. “Lowering the Drinking Age: Let’s Keep the Dialogue Open.” St. Petersburg Times. 25 Aug. 2008. Print.
According to Andrew Herman, “Each year, 14,000 die from drinking too much. 600,000 are victims of alcohol related physical assault and 17,000 are a result of drunken driving deaths, many being innocent bystanders” (470). These massive numbers bring about an important realization: alcohol is a huge issue in America today. Although the problem is evident in Americans of all ages, the biggest issue is present in young adults and teens. In fact, teens begin to feel the effects of alcohol twice as fast as adults and are more likely to participate in “binge-drinking” (Sullivan 473). The problem is evident, but the solution may be simple. Although opponents argue lowering the drinking age could make alcohol available to some teens not mature enough to handle it, lowering the drinking age actually teaches responsibility and safety in young adults, maintains consistency in age laws, and diminishes temptation.
PURPOSE: To persuade my audience NOT to drink and drive Every person is accountable for his or her own “right to drink”. Failure to treat this or any “right” responsibly has consequences. The person’s “right” can and should be taken away when the failure to act responsibly endangers others.

Briar Clay Mrs. Bauch 05-16-16 Persuasive Speech Lowering the Drinking Age to 18 How many of you would like the chance to purchase an alcoholic beverage by the time you turn 18? Today I am going to go over some pros and cons of lowering the drinking age to 18. This is something I believe should be done in Iowa, or even the whole nation. Upon researching this topic I learned that ever since the drinking age was increased to 21 years of age more people have died from drug overdose. Another fact about drug overdose is that it has increased 102% since the increase in the drinking age.
I’m here to persuade you in supporting a lower legal drinking age to age 18 because 1. It would eliminate temptation of breaking law (to drink) 2. Reduce unsafe drinking activities (Binge drinking) 3. It should correspond to the age of adulthood
Overuse of alcohol is becoming a large problem across the United States of America. Drinking is always considered a problem if it is not being done responsibly or in moderation. Teenagers that choose to drink illegally usually drink as much as they can hold; in result, parts of their memory can disappear. Teenagers do not drink in moderation; as a result, they drink much more than they can handle just to be “cool” in front of their friends. Drinking can be a problem in all ages, but the most problems arise in the younger generation. Teenagers drinking are not only harming themselves but also the surrounding lives. Lowering the drinking age would cause a significant increase in school drop-outs and even deaths. Teenagers do not think about how
college students have found drinking at American universities has grown to become a defining part of college life despite the fact that a majority of college students cannot even legally drink. Lowering the drinking the drinking age could prove to be an effective step in changing the party hard way of life by encouraging responsible drinking and take the trill away from getting away with drinking. Students also binge drink to get as drunk as fast as possible. The dangers of this are obvious. If the age...
Alcohol can affect adults of various ages, but the legal age of drinking has a lack of adults paying due to the drinking law. Adults at the...
Have you ever been at a party, and someone offered you an alcoholic drink? Or someone said “Don’t overthink it, just take a sip. It’s just one drink, everything will be just fine”? This has happened to many people, and most of them have no clue to what to do in this situation. Among Ontario students,13 years was the average age of first exposure, and 14 years was the age for first experience drinking. That first drink can be the start of a stressful life. Most of these teenagers don’t understand how big the impacts of drinking alcohol can be on them.
As the current legal drinking age remains to be 21, adolescents today are increasingly drinking large amounts of alcohol behind the backs of others. Along with this being illegal, alcohol-related dangers within our youth like dependency, disease, and irresponsible behaviors are problems that many are finding ways to prevent by increasing awareness; some people have even suggested that raising the drinking age would be the ultimate solution. However, is the constant routine of warning adolescents and preventing them from drinking really working? Based on the vast number of anti-alcohol programs in schools and existing laws forbidding the use of underaged drinking, today, there are still increasing reports. Instead of repeatedly preventing our
I spoke earlier about creating a method in order to improve the workplace for employees in order to increase the success of an organization; this is a project that requires a lot of attention to detail and plenty of consistency. Being an individual with great recognition of detail and efficiency is something that this program needs because that is what the field of Human Resource Management and Development is all about. We need individuals in this field who pay attention to the details that others may miss out on, and individuals who are not afraid to keep going after a couple of failed attempts. If you are wondering why, it is simple because these are the people who at the end of the day to make a greater difference. Simply put, I know this because I have experienced it throughout my undergraduate career at Binghamton University, through my leadership role on campus by organizing forum, banquets and on campus events and it is something I hope to bring to the Human Resource Management and Development program here at
Alcohol is a widely available drug. Some people may use alcohol from time to time, and drink small amounts. Other people may drink frequently, and drink large amounts at a time. People who drink alcohol very often for a long time, and have problems after drinking alcohol, may have what is called an alcohol use disorder. Alcohol abuse and alcohol dependence are the two main types of alcohol use disorders:
Practice is a major role that needs to be played when it comes to presenting. Practicing, I feel gives you more confidence in your speech, and more preparation than if you were to not practice. Rehearsing before the speech then presenting makes you seem like you actually know what you are talking about even if the only reason you know all these facts is because of study and practicing. Practicing through my speech really helps me with my presentation, if I practice enough, I feel very confident to where I wouldn’t need t a paper to look at notes during the speech. This concept is important for anything. Practicing will always help you with any future task.
