In this new political context, where Hope has vanquished Fear, we might hope that America can return to the task of constructing a reasonable and humane response to the needs of its illegal people. Most migrants want to work and pursue the “American dream”. There are many barriers for residents to achieving success at the work and life balance. The immigrants fall back on public assistance to support them.
There are an estimated 11.1 million undocumented immigrants currently residing in the United States. The current healthcare model pertains to all U.S citizens, but what are the parameters and regulations regarding those who live here illegally? The purpose of this paper is to not only answer this question, but also to address concerns regarding the provision of health care benefits, rights, and our ethical responsibilities to this population.

For many Mexican immigrants, crossing the border into the land of freedom and the American dream is no easy task. Some immigrants come over illegally by means of hiding in cars to cross borders, using visitor visas to stay longer, marrying to become citizens, and having babies as ‘anchors’ to grant automatic citizenship. Other immigrants gain green cards and work visas and work their way into becoming US citizens legally and subsequently gaining citizenship through paperwork for their families back home. After escaping harsh living and working conditions in Mexico, immigrants come to America prepared to gain education, opportunity, and work. This American dream unfortunately does not come to pass for most.
The United States of America, being a country founded by immigrants, is known all over the world as the land of great opportunities. They cross because, of maybe what is happening in their country or maybe they live in a poor environment. But, it’s our decision. First off, let’s just start by saying within the confines of the United States illegal immigration is not really illegal due to many different factors. Currently in the United States illegal immigrants receive healthcare, social security, unemployment and other forms of benefits provided by the US government “for its people”, which are funded by the citizens of the United States through their tax dollars but illegal immigrants do not pay taxes, they simply collect and piggyback off the rest of us. I’m forty four years old and I’m a graduate of Brown University. I hold a MD in American Studies and a PhD in Economic Studies. I also attended Harvard Law School where I attended workshops for Public Law as well as International Law. In addition to my time spent at Harvard I met Carlie my Vice President. Carlie, who is forty three, attended Columbia University where she obtained an MD in economics political science as well as a Bachelor of science in foreign service. Carlie then went on to attend Harvard Law where we met in one of their many workshops. I am currently married with four dogs all of different species while Charlie is married and is a mother to six children. We are aiming for a united nation that places equal time and money on military spending, fine arts and culture and health care and education.
