I say that because I am writing you concerning Child Abuse. It is in the rage and I am in need of you help to get rid of it. You may be wondering why I care. Well, I am a fourteen-year old girl. Being fourteen, I am still considered a “child.” I am also around children a lot, so when I hear that child abuse is a major problem in my state, it saddens me. It is sad to know that Children, like my nieces and nephews, are being abused in multiple ways, for things that they may not control.Whether …show more content…
I fear that as time passes, it will only get worse and worse.Abuse matters just as much as anything. It is wrong to punish a child in that manner. Many children all over Utah are being abused, but they never speak up. Being abused as a child can affect them their entire life. The 8th amendment says “No cruel or unusual punishment.” That goes for children too. Some people excuse their abusive behavior by saying that they were “Punishing their child.” but let me tell you, there is a major difference between punishing and abusing. The article by Global Issues on Child abuse states: “ the line between ‘acceptable’ hitting and physical abuse is sometimes blurry.” Child abuse should definitely be stopped. It can harm the child for their entire life changing the way they live. Child abuse is such a terrible problem in Utah. I hope that you can help me solve this problem. After reading about all that Child abuse can do to a child and why it is bad, let's talk about something we can do to stop it.I think that we should put out the word that if someone is being abused, speak up! Child abuse can’t be stopped in silence. Another thing we can do is help nations ban corporal
Child abuse is a serious crime, that if violated can come with many consequences, and rules. Reporting child abuse is a mandatory law enacted in 1978 (but amended many times) stating that people must report child abuse immediately1. This law was created to identify children that are victims of child abuse. Relating to the law the Department of Human Services has responsibility to access and investigate suspected child abuse. "Each year Department of Human Services investigators conduct 20,000 investigations involving 30,000 children (in the state of California).2" There are a lot of cases reported each year, involving innocent children, abused by their parents. Although there are thousands of cases reported each year, thousands go unreported. "Child abuse has serious consequences which may remain as indelible pain throughout the victims lifetime3" Child abuse can have permanent negative affects on the child, permanent affects that the child will never forget. The abuse can also bring a better side to the child, making the child wanting to be more independent. Child abuse is very common, and can affect any child of any race, color or religion.
All around the world children are being abused, in the united states about 5.5 million
Within the last few decades there has been an increase in public awareness concerning child sexual abuse. Child abuse is defined as intentional acts that result in physical or emotional harming. However most people don’t understand that there are different forms a child abuse; they include physical, neglect, and sexual abuse. Child abuse is widespread, one that most topics people would rather not think about. For the longest time individuals have been in denial because it’s easier when everyone believes that they live in a perfect world.
Child abuse is an issue in every state, every country, worldwide. There is no place that is immune to child abuse. This being stated they need better policies in place regarding the education on child abuse. Many people have many different opinions on how to lessen the amount of child abuse that goes on in this country, however many of them focus on stricter punishment for the abuser’s (Hmurovich, 2009). However, they know that stricter punishment will not lessen the amount of child abuse; it would truly have little to no impact on...
Child abuse has been throughout the United States from the early 1870s up to this day. The question is what can we do as a whole to prevent it from continuing. We have thought of organizations to programs to speaking out of what has developed through time and seen remarkable results. "While some children die of neglect and abuse, most victims survive with psychic scars that stay with them throughout their lives." (Grapes). Ask yourself, are you the one with courage willing to speak up against such a harsh state or will you stand back and not strive for what is the righteous choice.
Harsher punishments should be set on child abusers so children are safer. In order to understand child abuse, we need to learn what is child abuse, where did the parents get this is idea, and why do they beat kids. Then we also need to know how is neglecting a child
First off I am going to start with what is happening, and where it is happening. Child abuse happens everywhere, some places more severe than others. Any form of abuse should be brought to the light. Whether it is physical, mental, or sexual abuse, the cruelty is taking place in every corner of the world. Most third world countries have no laws for child labor, or how far you can take punishment. Even if there is laws in the country it is taking place in the adult might not get in as much trouble as I think they should. Now a days you can physically, mentally, sexually abuse and neglect your child with minimal punishment. Most of the abuse happens behind closed doors also. The caregiver usually threatens the children if they say they are going to tell someone. I believe that the stats online for child abuse are lower than they really are because children are afraid to talk about their situations.
The physical abuse of children covers a wide range of actions from what some might term ‘justifiable chastisement’ such as slapping or spanning to the sort of actions which most would agree constitute deliberate, sadistic cruelty against children.
It’s up to to adults to report child abuse, because many victims are too scared.“Anyone who has reason to believe a child is being abused or neglected should make the report! We all have a responsibility to report a child we suspect may be in danger. Ohio law encourages you to act on behalf of a child in need of protection, and to report your suspicions to the appropriate authorities” (Department). Having the responsibility to file a complaint for child abuse should be a good thing. Nobody should want to be quiet when it comes to reporting child abuse, because you are helping those who don’t have to strength to go for themselves. No matter what position you are in, everybody who witnessed and knows there is child abuse taking place they should report
There are so many things that I have never found really interesting to me or at least something that could make me want to try and change it. I still don’t understand why people want to hurt kids. This is not something that should be a norm in our culture, but it is. This should be changed instead of just letting it happen sure it is going to be hard to charge, but there are still things that we can do to help kids that have gone through it and their parents. It also does depend on who abused them then they can go to jail. There are still things that we do not have a real understanding as to what sexual abuse is in general. It is not a well-known topic unless some has been abused. We assume that the victim is to blame them for what happened to them, but it is not their fault. We blame people because we do not want to see the perpetrator as the one who should be in trouble. In this case we do not have the knowledge as to what sexual abuse really is. The definition of sexually abuse is a sex act that is non-consensual and this could be anything. This does not mean that consensual sex is
The continuing cycle of child abuse can be ended when we are willing to look at the devastation it leaves in the lives of not only the child victims, but everyone who is a part of the family or society where family violence dwells. When individuals are willing to stand up for these young victims and get involved, only then will positive change come. Look at the positive change that grew out of the abuse and rescue of one 9 year old girl named Mary Ellen when one person with compassion in her heart was willing and resolute to get involved and make a difference.
To understand how to prevent child sexual abuse, one must begin by understanding what child sex abuse is. When a perpetrator intentionally harms a child physically, psychologically, sexually, or by acts of neglect, this crime is known as child abuse. Child sex abuse consists of any sexual activity that includes a minor. A child cannot consent to any form of sexual activity. More importantly, when a perpetrator engages with a child this way, they are committing a crime that can have lasting effects on the victim for years. Moreover, child sexual abuse does not need to include physical contact between a perpetrator and child, some forms include but not limited to; fondling, intercourse, sex trafficking, exposing oneself to a minor, masturbation
In the USA, there are more than three million reports of child abuse every year. It is the highest number in other countries. As the result of child abuse, children are more likely to drink and smoke at a young age, face depression or at least one psychological disorder, attempt suicide, use drugs, and become addicted to alcohol. In 2012, an estimated 1640 children died because of child abuse or neglect.
Child abuse is a very serious problem that continues to happen all over the world. The Federal Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act, defines child abuse as a failure to act as a parent or caregiver which results in physical/emotional harm, sexual abuse, and in some cases death. There are many different types of child abuse such as emotional, physical, neglect, and sexual. With each type of abuse there are warning signs you can spot before it is too late. When a child is abused there is a huge possibility that it can cause them to have many long term effects.
