Why Teachers Should be Paid More
When choosing a profession there is two important questions to ask yourself; is it what you love doing and is the pay enough. Most do not pick a teaching career for the pay, the job is chosen because it is effective, feeling rewarding. Teachers should be paid more because teachers are a huge part of a child’s life, teachers do more than teach, are underappreciated and with a background check of college degrees, majors and experience we can then determine who is the most deserving of a higher pay.

With background check of college degrees, college majors and experience we can t1hen begin to determine who is most deserving of a higher pay. Unless the quality of the classroom instruction is boosted substantially students will not learn to the high performance standards the state has set. The state still has opportunities to put teacher reform back on track even though several teacher reform efforts created during the past six years have gone wrong. “Currently, the state's strategy is to have rigorous standards for new teachers, to provide a "standard" or "professional" license to new teachers only after they show that their classroom instructional practice meets a performance benchmark for beginning teachers, and to require rigorous ongoing professional development and recertification in order to retain the license.” A benchmark is set for the best accomplished and experienced teachers to earn certification from the NAtional Board for Professional Teaching Standards. A assessment system for licensing new teachers has not been adopted. The recertification system seems disorganized. The overall strategy lacks tools to be effective and the way its need to be. To get the system back on track there are four new initiatives. For new teachers the state should expand its standards covering all teachers-new, mid-career and advanced. The idea developed would be
