On July 20th of 1969, the United States landed on the moon, making Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin the first people to walk on the surface of the moon. While this ended the ‘Space Race’ of putting people onto the moon, it opened up infinite possibilities for what we could do next, but there is one problem with expanding our society to other worlds, and that is money. Flying millions of miles through space is not only very expensive and time consuming, it is also very dangerous, the slightest mistake can kill an entire crew of astronauts, and end up costing billions of dollars (How Challenger Brought NASA Down to Earth). Since trips to the International Space Station are so dangerous and costly, why do we keep sending and bringing back astronauts? Being in the International Space Station (ISS for short) is not necessarily a ‘vacation home’ where astronauts are free to do what they want, they are up there to conduct experiments and analyze the data they receive from …show more content…
Space tourism is the concept of having buyable flights to the International Space Station, or similar facilities, which have not been made yet. Many private space companies such as SpaceX, and Virgin Galactic have dreamed of making this a commercial business. More recently, we have been getting closer and closer to getting space tourists just outside of the earth’s atmosphere, and into a slight orbit around earth, just enough so the people on board can experience weightlessness ( "Virgin Galactic Craft Reaches New Heights." ). With Virgin Galactic’s recent success in engineering a space plane to carry passengers, space tourism is closer than ever. While the Virgin Galactic space plane can reach what the minimum for space tourism needs, there is still many tests and fixes needed in order to ensure a safe and reliable vehicle, that can safely take passengers to space and back, every
INTRODUCTION Attention-getter: “Space travel benefits us here on Earth. And we ain’t stopped yet. There’s more exploration to come.” (Nichelle Nichols from Star Trek) Credibility: Throughout our childhood as we study space, solar systems, planets we all come to a point of having the dream of exploring the space or learn more about it in the future.
Christopher McCandless’ long, fascinating, but an ultimately fatal journey into the wilderness of Alaska is depicted in the biography, Into the Wild, written by Jon Krakauer. Late in the of summer of 1990, a very young Christopher McCandless left his ordinary world in Annandale, Virginia to pursue a solitary life in the untamed wilds of Alaska. Many will insinuate that Christopher McCandless’ actions were childish and idiotic, but a stronger argument would be that his unconventional thinking and desire to live life on his own terms allowed him to reach self-actualization.
Also, if they are going to even consider sending people into space they need to double check and triple check everything on that spacecraft. They should, also, test the spacecraft, spaces suits, hab, etc. before they go and send LIVE people into outer space. It is not fair that families have to worry if their loved ones will even come home after traveling into space. It is not fair that the space crew has to worry if they will even make it back to the ship alive because they are traveling to a place that is not even relevant to anyone or anything that we do on
There is much controversy over whether or not minors should be tried and convicted as adults; most often with cases involving murder.
We chose to go to the moon for many reasons –for science, technological advancement, even for the exploration of new worlds –yet why have we not continued to do so? Today in the year 2014, government funding for NASA has been cut exponentially since the days of Apollo. The United States no longer has the need for the continuation of manned space travel. The Cold War is long over along with the Soviet Union, which defeats the need to continue to exceed Russia with our technology. The purpose behind why the United States chose to go to the moon was not for the pure sake of science, but for the interests of the Cold War.
Have you ever wondered how some athletes have gotten so good at a certain sport? Have you ever thought about what they did in order for them to get this good? For some the answer is simple; workout and train. But for others the answer is different; the use of performance enhancing drugs such as steroids. There are some people that argue that steroids should be legalized and allowed in professional sports. Other people argue that steroids should not be allowed. Today I am going to state my opinion and justify my reason. Steroids should not be allowed in professional sports because it can be very dangerous to the athlete’s health, it is a way to gain and un-fair advantage and it can be dangerous in both social and physical aspects.
A process is used to make a task simpler by dividing the task into parts that can be done individually. When you start writing an essay from beginning from end, you get stuck figuring out how to write introduction and it discourages to finish the essay before you have started. Instead start writing the body paragraphs, conclusion and then write the introduction. The first draft is never perfect visit writing centers for help or ask others to help revise your essay. Also reading your paper out loud gives you a better understanding what the paper sounds like and corrections that need to be made. Often times when we read a paper in our minds we skip over the mistakes or correct mistakes without knowing it. Correcting your essay many times will help complete your ideas in your essay, this helps the reader to be able to follow the ideas in the essay and not get lost. By doing these steps you better understand why you are writing an essay and the next steps to take.
Eggs came first. Millions of years before mammals, eggs existed, their hard shells unlike her mammalian sister who waddles around, heavily crippled with the burden of her womb. Eggs conferred evolutionary advantage.
When I sit down to write a paper I simply just stare outside from where I’ am sitting, until a great sentence comes flying across my head. If that doesn’t work or simply start double guessing myself, I end the conflict in bringing both my sister and parents into the argument. As a result, they end up resolving the issue through stating what sounds great on the sentence, or what can be done to make it sound better, by following all prerequisites. Most of which ends up giving an excellent pay off, since my parents are in my personal opinion a great help when it comes to starting an essay. While others may argue that parents don’t have sufficient educational background as to help them with anything related to school.
Detractors of public sector space agencies like NASA frequently argue that expending money and resources on sending humans into space is wasteful and irresponsible during shaky economic times. After all, in 2010 the U.S. Census Bureau in recorded 46.2 million people in poverty, the largest number in the 52 years the figure has been published. Putting tax dollars into a shuttle and sending it on an extraplanetary voyage is uneconomical in the eyes of many. However, beneficial developments of the space program can be found in airports, hospitals, laboratories, and homes around the world. Foam created for protecting the outside of a shuttle passing through the harsh atmosphere has found use as a durable, light-weight molding material for artificial limbs. Research and development for NASA'S programs has parented a network of hundreds of communication satellites used around the world on a daily basis and monitored by NASA. Robotic arms used for repairs, maintenance, and hazardous labor in sp...
Since we first sent rockets into Earths orbit, we have been pushing the technological boundaries in order to reach new heights. Space exploration has caused advances in almost every field imaginable. We have seen new technology in the fields of telecommunications, innovative new light-weight materials, rockets and aircraft material. Space exploration by nature causes innovation because the need for “increased performance in space… usually means getting more out of less” (Crusan & Neumann, 2011). These size and weight constraints on materials and equipment have lead to the creation of devices that we use everyday like water filters, scratch resistant lenses, and memory foam. The newest advancement in NASA’s long list of innovations is the International Space station (ISS). The ISS a long-term micro-gravity research station that helps us get closer to eventually making a journey to other planets. NASA has been doing the impossible for 55 years and is now in the process of handing over the reigns to the private sector. Companies like Virgin Galactic and Space Exploration Technologies Corp. (SpaceX) have taken over wh...
Ok my number one reason is because space is dangerous. You probably already know this but I still need to tell you some dangers. One one statement I should make is the fact that civilians probably not properly trained and yes this is a problem because I'm going to guess that there are no medics in space and you're super far away from earth so you most likely have no medical assistance unless you or someone has a medpack on them then you're just lucky. But movie got onto my third sentence is the fact that lots of unknown risks is there when of if you go to space.so basically it isn't determined how safe you are going or leaving space.
Have you ever woken up in the morning and felt like not going to the college the whole day? Of course you have. You think of skipping all the classes, but then you contemplate on the consequences of the choice. The attendance will suffer. You’d miss out on that important question or in some people’s case you’d miss out on the exam. You vote against it and go. Now in the above case you had a choice of whether to go to the classes or not, and you chose to go. That decision may prove to be fruitful or a rather disastrous one, but whatever it may be you have to deal with the consequences that come with it. We make countless decisions every day, every moment and once a choice has been made, the actions play out, and the consequence is delivered. We have to live with those consequences. Our choices and decisions guide our lives and build our futures. Whether people notice it or not, the choices we make today affect our tomorrow.
Space tourism involves travelling in to the space by people for leisure, adventure or investment by established space tourism businesses. It is an expensive undertaking that satisfies the curiosity of people regarding how the space looks like. Virgin Galactic is one of the emerging companies that have taken advantage of the new investment opportunity. Space environment on the other hand is likely to be affected by space tourism due to the black carbon emitted by the rockets involved in space tourism. This paper analyses space tourism and space environment in modern day. It highlights the relationship between modern technology and space tourism. It also talks about how the space is related to astronomy and the efforts by scientists to promote space tourism.
Many don’t realize that the road to success isn’t so much a road as it is a winding,
