The United States was founded on the idea of political freedom, liberty, and no social hierarchy. These foundations provided an image of Freedom for the America, making it every immigrants dream to one day settle in the United States. However, every year each year that image is fading away, as our civil liberties are fading away. I can’t remember the time when privacy, a civil right guaranteed by the the bill of right was actually obeyed by. Due to the loss of our rights, and somewhat freedom I believe the the safety, security and well-being of the many should not outweigh the privacy, and freedom of the individual. In the first place, a recent act passed for the safety, and security of the many has significantly increased the power of the government, and violated our constitutional rights. The patriot act allows wiretapping, search of business records, searching homes without probable cause, and more. This act violates almost every amendment. For example right to a speedy, and public trial is violated by the act allowing Americans to be jailed indefinitely. Most importantly the right to liberty is violated by Americans being prosecuted without being charged. Although this act may …show more content…

Like accusations without any evidence, where most people in Salem are just accusing because of vengeance like Mr. Putnam. Additionally, the Crucible runs on Abigail's empowerment, and how no one can raise a finger at her. Both of these examples serve as motifs of the present day United States. Citizens or immigrants can be accused without any evidence, and then held for an unknown period of time. The second example with Abigail represents the United States government, because if anyone were to question this act they would likely be arrested.
