People need to realize that smoking and what comes with smoking does no good and is bad for multiple reasons. Smoking is one of the main causes for death in the world. There are more than 480,000 deaths annually throughout the year. Bringing in what smoking causes to eating places like restaurants or work places is not safe for everyone and is not healthy at all. The government should continue to decide whether or not to pass indoor smoking ban nationwide to protect the people.
Everybody has their different opinions. Therefore the supporters of the federal government have strong and open minded opinions that have anyone thinking twice of what the supporters of the federal government has to say. A nationwide indoor smoking ban is an absolute great idea from the federal government and their supporters. The supporters suggested that smoking ban should be attempted in all public areas, which is not a bad idea. Most Americans have agreed to this nationwide indoor smoking ban. ”Roughly 52% of voters approved the smoking ban in Austin, Texas.” ("A Closer Look”). There are then, those people who care about their revenues and businesses. Reasons to why there are some people, who disagree, are because they feel like smoking bans cost them to lose their revenues. “In the old days a smoker might spend six hours in my bar drinking and talking to friends. Now he's spending four hours in the bar and two hours outside smoking. I can't serve people outside. Every time a smoker goes outside, that's lost revenue." ("Smoking Bans and”). Unemployment could even rise upon these businesses due to the fact of losing some of the customers. “Smoking bans could prove to be disastrous for businesses by chasing away customers and could create unemploymen...

...significant number of bars in Los Angeles regularly violate the smoking law, and that weak enforcement has essentially rendered the smoking ban ineffective in some areas of California.” ("Are Smoking Bans”). It is proven and said that the California Smoke-Free Bar Program in 2000, have at least forty percent of California's free-standing bars, or bars not attached to some restaurants, are in violation of California's smoking ban.
In conclusion, the federal government should pass a nationwide indoor smoking ban. The process of passing it will make some Americans mad and most happy. It will be a hard process, but it just takes patience and time. Smoking from restaurants, bars, etc. could cause death from inhaling or second handing the smoke within our bodies. This should therefore have the federal government decide more on passing the nationwide indoor smoking ban.

It is clear that smoking hurts people’s health and poisons the people around them. A ban on smoking in public would provide the environment nonsmoker, decrease cancer or others health problem, and it also will reduce a number of young people influence in society.
There needs to be a policy to ban cigarettes, it kills the smoker, in addition, could kill the person exposed to the smoke from cigarettes. “The cigarette is also a defective product, meaning not just dangerous but unreasonably dangerous, killing half its long-term users” (Proctor), cigarettes are not healthy in any way making it a defective product, it mainly kills the smoker rather than helping them. It was produced to be inhalable smoke harming anyone who smokes them making it a defect because in the past the tobacco was too harsh to be inhaled. The policy would help cigarette smokers, especially since they don’t even like the habit of smoking cigarettes, knowing it harms them.
Oriola, T. (2009). Ethical and legal analyses of policy prohibiting tobacco smoking in enclosed public spaces. Journal of Law, Medicine & Ethics, 37(4), 828-840 doi:10.1111/j.1748-720X.2009.00454.x
One of the largest and most problematic health issues in our society is smoking. Smoking is currently the leading cause of death in our country, due to its harmful and addicting contents, such as nicotine and tobacco. Although millions die from it each year, smoking is the single most preventable cause of death as well. Without smoking, a tremendous amount of money and lives will be saved. I think that our country should ban smoking and the production of cigarettes in order to maintain a healthier nation, help save the environment, and prevent the almost 1000 deaths that they cause in fires each year.
Smoking is one of the leading killers in North America and innocent. people shouldn't die because of it. For years people have been smoking. in public thinking, "It's my body, I can do whatever I want to do." now that it has been proven that smoking not only harms the smoker.
Cigarettes are one of the most common killers known to mankind. Cigarettes kill about 6 million people every year, and that number isn’t going to go down in less we do something about it. Smoking in the twentieth century killed only 100 million people, whereas a billion could die in our century. There are several more reasons why we should ban cigarettes, and I am going list them.
Every year tobacco is responsible for over 480,000 deaths. That includes people who have died from secondhand smoke. When statistics like this exist it is hard to understand why tobacco is still legal. This number increases every year that passes and most people believe it isn’t shrinking anytime soon. Tobacco should be banned because it’s deadly to not only the users, it’s highly addictive, and the tobacco industry is corrupting information promoting its harmful product. Society shouldn’t have to deal with anymore premature deaths due to a lethal legal product. We should work towards getting this useless product banned everywhere.
However, by prohibiting smoking in public areas and restricting it only to a certain place prevents smokers from fair participation in their social life. The main goal of the smoking ban is to make it socially unacceptable to smoke, which helps force smokers to quit. Medical studies have been conducted and published that show the dangers of smoking and the effects of second hand smoke. The research is very vague though and never truly shows you the exact causes. People have a choice not to expose themselves to many of the same harmful materials in our everyday life, such as soda, fried foods, and car exhaust.
Is the implementation of a Smoking ban in public places a loss for smokers and a win for non smokers? Is a Smoking ban about the rights of a non-smoker versus the rights of a smoker? The fact is that a Smoking ban is not about a winner or loser; it’s about our air quality, our health and society’s obligation to protect those who are too young to protect themselves from second hand-smoke. Health Canada has stated that exposure to second-hand smoke is as harmful as if you were actually smoking because the nicotine, carcinogens and toxic chemicals are found in both tobacco smoke and second-hand smoke. More than two dozen diseases and conditions have been attributed to smoking; however the majority of these effects can reverse once you quit smoking.
“Many of the restrictions on tobacco advertising are designed to prevent young from being exposed to it” (Smoking). Above I already mentions that smoke affects all over the body organs; some body organs are too sensitive. “Tobacco contains more than four thousand chemicals, some of which are known to be poisonous or cancer causing” (smoking). Therefore, chemical found in tobacco cause lung cancer and other types of cancer. In the articles “Tobacco and smoking 2004”, it’s written that lung cancer kills more American than breast and prostate cancer combined, and tobacco accounts for over 30% of all cancer deaths and a comparable fraction of death due to heart and lung diseases(National). Each year, many people start to smoke and day-by-day more risks are increasing. Every year different organizations tries to control the use of tobacco in the United States, but none of them became success. In the United States, the first preventable cause of cancer is tobacco. Therefore, the government should enact a law to make the use of tobacco illegal to prevent people suffering from different types of
Have you ever been in your favorite restaurant and just as you are about to take a bite of your favorite dish, your lungs are filled with a cloud of smoke which has drifted to your table from the smoking section just a few feet away? This is a common complaint of many patrons who enjoy dining at restaurants. While it is true that the smoke from cigarettes causes many health problems, is it fair to take away the freedom of Americans who wish to smoke? Even as compromises can be made on this subject, the majority of people stand by their strong opinions on whether smoking should be allowed in restaurants.
There are lots of harmful things in the world such as alcohol, drugs and cigarettes. Cigarettes are smoked and liked being smoked everywhere besides it is poisonous. Although smoking is harmful for people's life. Some people believe that smoking should not be banned. However, in my view, smoking should be banned since it damages people on account of three important reasons. They are health, social and budget problems.
One of the biggest problems that people are faced with on a day-to-day basis is cigarette smoke. The sole cause for 480,000 deaths each year just in the United States is accredit to cigarettes(CDC). For a lot of the smokers the habit of smoking happens to assist them when under stress and dealing with issues that are unmanageable. Some smoke to appeal to their peers or simply because it “feels good.” Smoking one cigarette can lead to a major addiction. The effects of smoking hurt oneself and those amongst us. Smoking Kills as the ad portrays this revolver and cigarettes as the bullets, and also lists the side effects of smoking. Cigarettes causes cancer, increases the risk of you getting a stroke, highly addictive and causes a lot of health problems. Nearly 16
Those opposing a smoking ban say that freedom of choice would be affected by such legislation. Some people against a ban say that smoking bans damage business. A smoking ban could lead to a significant fall in earnings from bars, restaurants and casinos. Another argument is that the smoker has a basic human right to smoke in public places, and the ban is a limitation for smokers’ rights. Businesses, smokers, publicans, tobacco industries, stars, and some of the non-smokers oppose public smoking ban. Smokers light a cigarette because they need to smoke, not because they want it, because nicotine is physically addictive. Therefore, some smokers think that the public smoking ban is oppressiveness. They see the ban as a treatment to smokers as second-class citizens. Smokers agree that the smoking ban benefits the world, but cannot support the ban, because effects of nicotine obstruct them.
