When you hear the word pork... what is the first thing that you think of? Most people would say bacon! We have so many other options to choose from when it comes to the types of meat we eat. Some people are not fully aware of the risks we take each time pork is cooked and served with a meal! The pig was never meant for human consumption (Channon, Dsouza, & Dunshea, 2018). It’s important to know where pork came from and are there any known risks regarding the meat. The dangers of pork begin with the pig.
A pig is a popular animal on a farm, known for the disposal of waste, sick or dead animals, carcasses, and even capable of eating their own young and feces. Pigs are very disgusting animals and also known as the farm's scavengers (Channon,

A popular virus known to be caused by eating pork is called the H1N1 virus (Statement on Food safety considerations of novel H1N1 influenza virus infections in humans, 2010). This virus was a new discovery that contained strands of genes from a pig. These strands were also found with a mixture of avian and human influenza viruses in a fusion never examined before. If this meat is not cooked properly you are taking the risk of possibly catching this virus. You may also be more familiar with this virus recognized as the swine flu. You can also become infected with different infections that could lead to more serious …show more content…
2015). Trichinellosis is also known as trichinosis, it’s caused by eating raw or uncooked pork and wild game infected with the larvae of the parasitic worm. Thes worms can turn into tapeworms also (Axe, 2017, July 21). What infects this meat is called the Trichinella spiralis they are what starts the process of infecting the meat pork that everyone loves so much! Tapeworms along with many other worms or pesticides that have been found in pork have the ability to infect any organ in the host once infected. Pig is not only unhealthy to eat but for much religious reason pork mustn't be touched or consumed.
Muslims believe that the hoof of a pig is lead to believe is devilish (Irimia, Gottschling, 2016) Not only is this a belief of Muslim but many other religions also. They believe that even touching the flesh of the pig is forbidden. Religious believers label the pig as a scavenger as well they also believe the pig is the most disgusting animal in the world.
With knowing a little more back around about danger of pork, is it more understandable why it is not healthy for you to eat? A pig is one of the nastiest animals in the world it can cause severe illnesses if not consumed the proper way ( K, 2014, September
Although there are many dangers in the world, the necessity of eating shouldn’t be considered something that is dangerous. Bryan Walsh talks about the dangers of eating food in his article, “America’s Food Crisis,” that proves how the food industry has changed dramatically in recent years. Factory farming has become the new way of producing food for America, one that is slowly putting millions of people’s health at risk.
One reason for this problem was that there was no real inspection of the meat. A quote from “The Jungle” tells of a government inspector checking the hogs for Tuberculosis, “This government inspector did not have a manner of a man who was worked to death; he was apparently not haunted by a fear that the hog might get by before he had finished his testing. If you were a sociable person, he was quite willing to enter into conversation with you and to explain the deadly nature of the ptomaines which are found in tubercular pork; and while he was talking with you you could hardly be so ungrateful to notice that a dozen carcasses were passing him untouched.”# This obviously led to tubercular meat being processed in the packing house. Another problem was the incredible lack of sanitation and the use of spoiled meat, another quote from “The Jungle” tells of how dirty it was in these plants “There would be meat stored in gre...
The pigs are thought of as the smartest animals by the rest of the animals.
Most of us do not think twice about the foods we pick up from the supermarket. Many Americans have a preconceived belief that the food being sold to us is safe, and withholds the highest standard of quality. Certainly, compared to many places in the world, this is true. But is the United States sincerely trying to carry out these standards, or have we begun to see a reverse in the health and safety of our food- and more explicitly in our meat? Jonathan Foer, author of “Eating Animals” argues for reform within the food industry- not only for the humane treatment of animals but moreover for our own health. Although Foer exposes the ills within the food industries in order to persuade readers to change their diets for the better, his “vegetarianism or die” assessment may be too extreme for most Americans. The true ills do not start with the meat, but with industrialized production of it through methods practiced by factory farming.
The actions of the pigs express this theme by starting with good intentions, but slowly becoming more and more like what they were trying to avoid. In the beginning of the story Old Major gives a speech to the animals on the farm, and in this speech he mentions how cruel the humans are. During his speech Old Major uses Boxer the horse as an example when he says “You, Boxer, the very day that those great muscles of yours lose their power, Jones will sell you to the knacker, who will cut your throat and boil you down for the foxhounds.” (Orwell 11). He then proceeds to tell the animals that once they revolt the cruelty will end, and at first it does, but soon the pigs begin to act more like humans. The pi...
Although this is completely untrue, seeing that the pigs only occupy themselves in self-centered and self-beneficial engagements, the other animals believe it to be true because they do not know what files, reports, minutes, or memoranda are. Their ignorance leaves them unable to question Squealers story and they mistake the pigs’ true actions for hard, laborious work.... ... middle of paper ... ...
Imagine living a life without eating anything with an animal product in it. No meat, fish, milk, eggs, honey, not even gelatin. Vegans are people who adapt a lifestyle where they live without any animal based goods; some do this for the health benefits that come with eliminating meats and dairy. Many become vegan as a way to protest and eliminate animal cruelty which is extremely apparent in the meat industry. A vegan diet is based largely on fruits, vegetables, grains, nuts, and soy. Many people would say this is unhealthy, that a person cannot live like this. Much of this skepticism comes from being misinformed, and under informed about veganism. It is safe to live a vegan lifestyle. On a vegan diet a person can get all the vitamins
Is it morally permissible to eat meat? Much argument has arisen in the current society on whether it is morally permissible to eat meat. Many virtuous fruitarians and the other meat eating societies have been arguing about the ethics of eating meat (which results from killing animals). The important part of the dispute is based on the animal welfare, nutrition value from meat, convenience, and affordability of meat-based foods compared to vegetable-based foods and other factors like environmental moral code, culture, and religion. All these points are important in justifying whether humans are morally right when choosing to eat meat. This paper will argue that it is morally impermissible to eat meat by focusing on the treatment of animals, the environmental argument, animal rights, pain, morals, religion, and the law.
...als, they can do whatever they please. Due to the lack of intelligence the animals posses, the pigs use bad logic to control the animals through twisting and manipulating facts.
By the end of the story, Orwell states that it “[is] impossible to tell” (p. 141) pig from human as they sit as allies around a table. In the Commandments that once ruled their society, all the animals vowed never to be in contact or trade with a human, let alone act like one. The corruption caused by their rise to power has influenced the pigs so greatly that they have betrayed their people and their beliefs, which were once pure and based on the motives that drove all animals to strive for a better, fairer life. The pigs clearly once passionately believed that, as it was none other than a pig by the name of Old Major who gave the speech that inspired the Animalist rebellion. Old Major himself said that “all men are enemies” (p. 10), and this was an ideal by which all pigs lived prior to their ascent to authority. Through this passage, Orwell clearly warns how even those who seem pure and driven by good can turn horribly bad when given too much
Today’s medical experts say that avoiding meat helps you avoid saturated fat. They have found out from studies that women who eat meat daily have a fifty percent greater risk of developing heart disease than vegetarian women and a sixty-eight percent greater risk in men (staff writer). People may not know about serious diseases meat can cause such as, mad cow disease and foot-and-mouth disease. In the September 1999 issue of the Emerging Infectious Diseases, approximately 76 million food-borne illnesses- resulting in 325,000 hospitalizations and 5,000 deaths occur in the United States each year from improperly cooked or diseased meat (Licher). That is a lot of fun!
People love to eat meat. For over two million years, humans have relied on eating meat in order to survive or simply just because they enjoy the taste. Early humans had more powerful jaws and larger teeth and relied on meat as one of their main sources of food. As evolution took place and humans evolved, they developed smaller teeth and were only able to eat the meat if it was cooked. With humans evolving and being able to survive on foods other than meat, meat does not have to necessarily be a part of human diet anymore. Although many people have opted for a vegetarian lifestyle, most people still continue to eat meat and do not consider it a cruel act. Many have also stopped eating meat due health risks and environmental concern. Whether
Every person has the ability to make their own choice of whether to eat meat or not. However, eating meat is directly tied to negative health effects, pollution leading to a depletion of ozone, and the depletion of hundreds of thousands of acres of land “wasted” on animal production when they could be used to solve the hunger crisis or lower emission levels. What humans eat is no longer a matter of choice; it has become a matter of life and death. Literally, the future of the whole planet rests on the decision of whether or not to eat meat. If humans chose to eat less meat the world that wouldn’t have to suffer the consequences (outlined above.) Vegetarianism is one possibility, as is Veganism; however the world would be
Orwell's novel depicts how a society can be corrupted if all the power was left to one individual. In this case, the animals left all the power to the pigs and they took advantage of that power. In my opinion, Orwell did a good job in portraying animals to signify the human counterpart. I enjoyed the fact that he made the pigs in charge and later we found out that the pigs were evil and corrupted, similar to politicians that runs our government. This analogy depicts politicians to be like dirty pigs.
Many people, with their busy schedules, go to fast food restaurants or stop at the gas station for a snack. People do this everyday without thinking if it is a good idea to eat there or not. Despite its convenience, fast food can be very dangerous to us in the long run, Junk food is high in calories, but low in nutrients, filling your diet with junk food causes an array of problems to your body. This is why we should be aware of the risks and effects that junk food can give us so we can live a healthy lifestyle. Junk food causes health problems.
