Performance Enhancing Drugs
All of the debate and information about performance enhancing drugs (PEDs) leaves people curious about the way these drugs affect one's body. The competitive urge to win is already big for most serious athletes. PEDs creates extra unfair competition, health risks and unfair advantages. The use of these drugs is becoming more common. Performance enhancing drugs should be illegal for athletes and others to use. What are PEDs? Performance enhancing drugs such as steroids, stimulant, supplements and growth hormones are used to improve performance. When taken, these chemically enhance the functions of the body to stop soreness and fatigue. They are most commonly used to increase muscle mass and strength, a better physical appearance, and even for a more competitive drive. These are considered cheating, can cause fatal health issues and come with consequences. These drugs interrupt respect for the sport rules. Athletes should get recognition for their talents that they have put work and effort into. These drugs have the potential to interrogate a sports original ways. Works Cited:

For those who've never heard of the term PED's, Performance enhancing drugs are any supplements that are considered to allow one perform better in their respective sports ,such as anabolic steroids and HGH( Human Growth hormones). The effects of these supplements can range from expediting muscle to increasing one's stamina. PEDs began to become the center of controversy when the I.O.C set up a medical commission to oversee the fight against doping, which ultimately lead to the ban of PED's in professional sports. Performance Enhancing Drugs should not be allowed in sports. PEDs are a form of cheating. Not only are they cheating, but they can harm the athlete's body too. There are many long-term health risks we don't even know about! Finally, PED’s make the game unfair because the kids with natural talent are not able to showcase their great skills.
Steroids build mass and strength and increase tissue to boost endurance (Szumski 11). Athletes use drugs in sports to build mass and strengthen a person’s bones, increase oxygen intake, work tissues, help pain, stimulate a persons body, reduce a person weight, and to hide the fact that a person is using other drugs (Szumski 12). Things that are considered steroids or an illegal body building drugs are, Anabolic Steroids, Beta-2 agonists, human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) , luteinizing hormone (LH), Human Growth Hormone (HGH), Insulin-like growth factors, and insulin (Szumski 13).

Many athletes are willing to do whatever it takes to become a professional. One of the easiest ways to enhance natural ability is through performance-enhancing drugs, or, PEDs. PEDs are substances used by athletes to increase their performance. The use of PEDs in athletic competition dates back to ancient Greece. Athletes use PEDs to run faster, jump higher, and recover at an increased pace.
Performance enhancing drugs are known to cause numerous diseases such as tumors, cancer, and can cause fertility problems. There are numerous cases of players dying or ruining their careers because they have gotten caught up in getting bigger and taking these drugs For instance in professional wrestling alone, 28 people have died because of PED’s (All of these people are died younger than 45 years old.) The debate over the legalization of performance-enhancing drugs, also known as PEDs, has been on the rise. Performance enhancing drugs are the illegal drugs or substances that are taken by athletes to improve their performance. The term doping is used to describe the act of using PEDs. In the recent years, many famous athletes have been convicted of PED abuse. Among these famous athletes is Lance Armstrong, a famous cyclist who won multiple Tour de France titles.

Should the use of performance enhancing substances be accepted for athletic use? While the opposition will argue for the use of performance enhancing drugs (PEDs) by athletes, the use of these substances must be banned from competition because it damages the honesty of athletic competition, provides an unfair advantage to athletes who train clean, and can have numerous detrimental effects to the user. Ultimately, it is crucial that stricter limits are put on athletes, which will ban the use of performance enhancing substances by any athlete regardless of sport. The use of performance enhancing drugs is ruining the integrity of athletics nationwide and must be forbidden.
Performance-Enhancers in Sports In todays society athletes are highly regarded as the elite. They train hard everyday and show the resilience and the strength of not only the human body, but the mind as well. The use of performance-enhancing drugs is banned in every professional sport, and yet stories of one athlete or another using these types of drugs or methods pop up in the news fairly often. There is a strong belief that it is a form of cheating far worse than a simple foul, mainly due to the fact that it completely undermines the foundation of the sport itself.
