Nature and Nurture of Human Pain
Humans are different when it comes to pain. Everyone can stand different types of pain some can't. Interindividual variability is the main characteristics of human pain on every level. For other challenging behaviors, the sources of this variability come from both nurture (environment) and nature (genes). The nature vs nurture is a scientific, cultural, and philosophical debate about whether human culture, behavior, and personality are caused mainly by nature or nurture. Nature in this debate is referred to as genetic or hormone-based behaviors. Nurture in the argument is referred to as environment and experience. A big issue in developmental psychology is the connection between .the innateness of an attribute (if it is apart of our nature) and the environmental effects on that attribute (if it is influenced by our nurture).

Nature account of development would claim the processes in question are innate and are influenced by an organism's genes. Natural human behavior is shown as present biological factors, like genetic codes. A nurture's would claim that these processes happen during interaction with the environment. Research shows gender of experiments help influence the result of pain assessment. Males are reported to have way less cold pressor- evoked pain than women. Females are at greater risk for developing more chronic pain disorders. Women also tend to be more sensitive towards noxious stimuli. Aging also has to do with pain. Pain can diminish in adults over the age of 50. Age affects post surgical pain. Older adults over 60 experience pain on a regular basis. Lifestyle and habits like drinking and smoking increase pain and things like exercising decrease pain. Personality, mood, and sleeping patterns also help add on to pain perception and behavior.
