Persuasive Essay On Mass Shootings

In the United States mass shootings have become a revolting trend that seems to be on the rise within society. There have been shootings in schools, shopping centers, and even a gym that have gone to show that no one is safe, no matter their surroundings. There are so many questions as to why things like this are happening, but many just want all of the violence to refrain.

There are many issues with mass shootings and gun violence that has taken a huge toll on families and communities throughout the US. Just in this year alone there have already been two hundred and ninety-four mass shootings in just two hundred and seventy-four days (U.S. Deaths.) The problem with mass shootings is that there are many, many lives that have been taken too early. According to The Gun Violence Archive, there have been over forty-five thousand incidents that have caused a fatality or an injury to an innocent American (Gun Violence.) When gun violence causes death it’s a tragic thing for the family, but it’s also hard on the community. Many people know

the ones that live around them, but they don’t know what they’re capable of doing. With a problem there is always a solution.

As there are many issues with gun violence, there are also many solutions.

Mass shootings should be prevented by reevaluating the purchases of guns, limiting entertainment containing violence, and possible laws for gun manufacturers. In order to purchase a gun, there should be a mental screening of a background check for the one purchasing it. Most of the causes for gun violence reside deep down within a person, and one can’t see that from just looking at them. This might be a task for one to complete, but then again it could limit that amount of lives taken each day. Another solution to gun violence would be to cut the violence within entertainment. With the abundance of violence in tv shows, movies, and even video games it makes children/teenagers and adults think it’s acceptable to perform the same actions. If this is limited with video games and movies, which everyone is subjective to there might be less of a persuasion

aspect.

There’s a continued mystery over the number of police-related shootings. This year, for the first time, firearm deaths are expected to take more lives in the 15–24 age group than motor vehicle accidents. The continual string of tragic school shootings and violence among young adults reminds us on a daily basis just how suddenly a promising life can end and how devastating it is that more and more young people are dying as a result of completely preventable gun violence (Prevent Gun Violence.)
Gun violence a subject that hits close to my heart. My uncle was shot and killed in 2012 because of harmless stupidity and selfishness. The hurt and pain is easily relatable, and believe crimes like this can be easily avoided by requiring a background check, limiting violence in entertainment, and passing possible laws for gun manufacturers.
