Abortion has become a huge conflicting topic and women should have the right to decide whether or not they want an abortion. Abortion is the termination of an egg in the woman’s body which leads to ending her pregnancy. It should be supported because those who want an abortion are not ready to become a parent; the child probably won’t be taken care properly; and the parent might not be able to financially support to take care of the child. Many people have abortions because the pregnancy was unexpected or because they were not ready to become a parent. Abortion should also be supported especially if they are rape victims. When abortion had become legal, death rates have decreased. Legalizing abortion can help minimize psychological problems and reduce death rates.

from going through many hardships when that parent isn’t able to take care of it. Children should have a good life and should not be treated poorly because it can affect their childhood and their future. Many women also have health related issues which can ruin or traumatize their child and many can have birth defects. About 40% of women have mentioned they couldn’t take care of a child because of financial issues, 12% have said something about having health related issues, and 12% have said they want to provide a better life for the child (Randall O’Bannon). But of course, many women can have more than one reason to have an abortion. A child that is brought into this world should be in good hands and should have the ability to learn and participate in the community. In the 12% who have said they had health issues, one woman had said “because I had been drinking and the medication I’m on for bipolar is known to cause birth defects and we decided it’s akin to child abuse if you know you’re bringing your child into the world with higher risk for things” (Randall O’Bannon). This is true and many women should take this into consideration because your child can be at higher risks for birth defects and be unhealthy. If a woman knows she could be hurting her child in any way, it’s better to not bring the child in to this world. This could just be a terrible experience for the child and the parent. Children should not go through any sufferings that can hurt them in the future and should have the right to live happy and healthy lives. Women should have the right to do what they want with their bodies and should have the ability to abort a child if they know they are incapable of the responsibilities and their inability to take care of them.
The Roe v. Wade case legalized abortion and the 14th amendment gave the women the ability to make her own decisions. This helps protect the fetus/child’s birth and the women’s well-being. The parent or parents of this child would need to have a good financial standing and should have the capability to take care and be responsible for their actions.
Abortion can save the life of a woman who can’t afford to take care of a child and can also save her child from any health risks. Abortion can stop women from suffering and from becoming emotionally unstable, but it can sometimes lead to suffering as well. Many women would have also been single mothers, which can be extremely hard for them. It would be difficult to handle a child alone, especially, if you didn’t expect and didn’t want a child in the first
place. The practice of illegal abortion in India increased death rates. The MTP (Medical Termination of Pregnancy) Act that had become approved in India basically said pregnancy can be legally aborted by those who hold a MTP license. The purpose of this act is to reduce illegal, unsafe abortion and results of maternal morbidity and mortality rates. Many women who were seeking MTP service were also getting disrespectful reactions. For those vulnerable women the only way to get an abortion was through illegal ways. Illegal abortion compared to legal abortion was fairly high. “There are 3 illegal abortions for every one legal abortion in rural area and 4-5 illegal abortions for every MTP in urban area” (Patra, Ambika Prasad). Many of these situations such as illegal abortions occur in places like India because it is a developing country. The data shows that “67 studies in 17 countries, indicate that, in some areas, up to 50% of maternal deaths occurring in hospital are due to complications of unsafely induced abortion” (Patra, Ambik Prasad). Due to the absence to obtain safe abortion practices, 15,000-20,000 women die every year. The MTP services were only accessible to certain parts of India especially in the cities rather than in the underdeveloped rural areas. The people who were performing the abortions that were local were unqualified and that had led to many problems in the women’s bodies. Where there is no safe abortion, it can lead to huge chances of maternal death. The public should be aware of these cases and should help legalize abortion, not just in certain parts of India but also everywhere else because it would lower the possibility of maternal deaths. Those who are performing the abortions should be trained and certified to perform because when you aren’t it could harm the person who is getting the abortion (Patra, Ambika Prasad). Another case that had occurred dealing with abortion was in Argentina. A 14 year old was raped by her stepfather, and she wanted an abortion. However, in Argentina abortion is illegal. Even though abortion is illegal in Argentina, there are about half a million abortions per year. The number one health issue in Argentina is abortion. Many unhealthy women who want an abortion go through hazardous situations and circumstances and 55,000 women ended up in public hospitals each year (Arditti, Rita). This girl was going through depression and suicidal thoughts because the judge wouldn’t allow her to have an abortion. This girl was traumatized and she had begged and pleaded, but they hadn’t assisted her. Apparently the judge didn’t want the girl to have an abortion because it might cause some mental health risk and they didn’t believe that she was raped. Since this girl and her family were poor, she couldn’t have an abortion, but if she was wealthy she could have had one secretly. This girl ended up giving birth and they had found out she was telling the truth that she was raped. They had also found out that after giving birth, she had gone through an emotional and depressing state (Arditti, Rita). Legalizing abortion could’ve helped this girl and many other girls out there that are going through the same problem. But in different countries, there are different rules and regulations. All countries should have abortion legalized because people like her can go through mental health issues and can cause them to be in a depressed state for a while. Abortion not only can cause fewer deaths, but can also help stop people from suffering. Abortion should be a topic spoken out to the public and it should help the public become aware of what goes on in different countries. People who are against abortion believe this is murder, but those who support it can understand but believe that you do what you believe is best for the circumstances you’re in. Many people are not in the position to become a parent and/or are in the wrong circumstances to have a child at this point in life. It is the women’s choice to decide and do what she wants or prefers with her body. Women have the right over their own body and no one should be able to take that away. In the article, Reproductive Justice and the Pace of change: Socioeconomic Trends in U.S Infant Rates by legal status of Abortion, it shows that maternal mortality has decreased since abortion was legalized. In countries like the U.S where abortion is legal, death rates were lower compared to the other countries such as India and Argentina. From 1960 to 1980 death rates have declined in the U.S. The more restrictions and limitations that were put on abortion in the U.S in the 1960s and 1970s the more infant mortality rates that were affected.
How would you feel if someone took away your ability to live and have a future? You wouldn't have the opportunity to crawl, take your first step, have your first kiss, or experience those butterflies in your stomach at the sight of first love. Millions of special moments, a life, shredded to pieces. This is essentially what abortion does. Abortion is not the answer in the case of an unplanned pregnancy and needs to be stopped! First of all, abortion is a type of unnecessary murder that occurs in inhumane ways and cannot be tolerated. Moreover, there are alternatives to abortion and many families who are looking to adopt. Lastly, the side effects of abortion can cause life threatening health risks to the mother. Excuses will always be made, but the bottom line is that abortion is not acceptable and should be stopped.
In the United States approximately 397,122 children are living without permanent families in the foster care system. Many of these children grow out of the foster care system and are not prepared with the skills and abilities to face real world problems. The situations that most of these children get into, end chances they have at living a normal life. For most of these children they just want to be like the other kids they know from school, have a home to go home to in the evenings and enjoy spending time with family. This brings up the case Roe vs. Wade. The case against abortion resulted in the legalization of abortion in the first trimester of pregnancy. The decision in Roe vs. Wade was correct as it defends women’s rights. Women have the
Roe v. Wade developed Civil Right in the United States by enhancing the right to privacy, making abortions legal and securing the health of a mother. Abortions should be legal as long as they do not cause any harm to the mother. Although abortions lead to the death of an unborn fetus, the benefits may be financial. It is the mother’s choice to choose whether or not she wants to terminate her child or not. Having a child is a big responsibility to take care of that not everyone can handle or take care of appropriately.
At first thought, abortion may not appear to have any involvement in economics. But, economics and abortion are, in fact, deeply intertwined. Studies of abortion show that financial hardship is the reason most often cited by women seeking abortions. Lack of money is rarely the only reason a woman seeks an abortion. Most women do so for a complex set of reasons, but money is frequently the paramount factor, the one that tips the scales in favor of abortion. This is especially true for low-income families and single
Some women may actually want to carry their child but could have a medical issue that can lead them to having a miscarriage which can lead to an abortion. It is actually the parent’s decision weather they want to abort their child or not. There is about 15,000 abortions per year worldwide, and approximately one hundred fifteen thousand per day. (Abortion should be Banned) For a mother to think of having an abortion may seem very hard. You might think you are doing the right thing at that moment of time but in the future you might regret making the wrong decisions. Later on down the
Supreme Court decided to legalize abortion throughout the country. Before that day abortion was illegal in almost all states. Woman then had a constitutional right to get an abortion no matter the reason anytime during the pregnancy. The Women’s Rights movement was designed to make sure women were entitled to an opinion and was treated equally in society but how are women treated equally if they can’t have a choice to remove something out of their life that is unwanted? Equality means that everybody is entitled to a right without discrimination no matter what it is. Many women become pregnant and the baby is unwanted. Majority don’t have the money to survive while raising a child and many can’t provide the love needed to raise a child. A lot of these children often grow up in poor environments which decreases their chances of better possibility to have a brighter future socially and economically. This is why I believe abortion should continue to be legal. Minimum suffering for many children and minimum suffering for many
The topic of abortion allows women to take back control of their lives. Because of Roe vs. Wade, abortion is legal and can be performed in the United States to a consenting adult or to a minor with parental approval or sometimes without it. Many individuals get abortions because they have other responsibilities that may be more important at the moment than caring for a child when they are not ready.
...If a pregnancy is unwanted, and the woman has to continue and have the child anyways, it could cause serious physical and mental problems to her personal well-being, but getting an abortion does not get rid of any physical or mental problems destined to come, and if she did not want to get pregnant that bad, then she should have been chaste.
Many people have their own opinions on abortion, that a fetus is a human being with a right to live so abortion is similar to murder. While other groups argue that a woman has certain rights, especially the choice whether to bring another life into the world. The groups that are for it think that abortion gives women the control over their own bodies, which it is their choice when and whether to have children or giving an option to choose to bring or not to bring a child with abnormalities to the world. Some children are born with severe disorders and some parents, being unable to care for their disabled child seek abortion as their one and only option because taking care of a child, especially born with abnormalities is tough work to do as a parent, so they decide whether bring a life into the world. They look ahead on what is best for them, and it is selfish. Or even having in mind that some do not want to become a single parent taking up two roles; a mother and father and they feel like every child should come into the world feeling wanted, loved and cared for. Another reason some women have an abortion is because they do not want to stop work or schooling, and these reasons are consistent across many countries, including America. Other reasons are because of societal pressures, women get little to no social support. But
Abortion has been a controversial topic in the U.S ever since it became legal in 1973 after the Roe v. Wade case. Abortion is defined as the, “the deliberate termination of a human pregnancy, most often performed during the first 28 weeks of pregnancy.” Pro-life supporters believe that abortion is unethical and argue that it is the mother’s responsibility to own up to her actions. They also argue that there is always the option of adoption, and that abortion could be very dangerous. I am pro-life and believe that the government doesn’t have the right to decide what a woman can or can’t do with her body.
There are thousands of women in the world make the mistake of getting pregnant. Yes, there are forms of contraception but they are not 100% effective in preventing pregnancy. Approximately 1.4 million abortion procedures are done each year in the United States, with 30% of those women being younger than forty-five years old (ProCon). Without abortion, there would be an abundance of children who are brought into the world unwanted and not being able to have the essentials they need to go through life successfully. The most difficult responsibility a woman would have to go through is finances. 85% of women who wish to have an abortion are unmarried and have to support the child alone (“Abortion Procedures”). Abortion can save a woman from going through financial distress when she is aware that she is not financially stable. Teen pregnancy is common in the world and they are not at a point in life where taking care of someone else, other than themselves, is possible to do alone. Thirty-nine states allow minors to go through the abortion procedure with parent consent (“Abortion Procedures”). All fifty states should allow this because if teens could not receive that choice, then they would have to carry an unwanted baby that they could not take care of after giving birth. Most abortion procedures are during the first trimester (Lowen). During the first weeks of pregnancy the development of the fetus is a gather of cells, therefore killing cells is not killing an actual person so abortion should not be considered murder.
Women should have the right to decide whether or not they would like to have an abortion. The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines abortion as; “the termination of a pregnancy after, accompanied by, resulting in, or closely followed by the death of the embryo or fetus.” The idea of a woman’s right to have an abortion being taken away is merely incomprehensible.
Abortion has been accepted by the United States of America ever since the monumental Roe vs. Wade case in the early 1970’s, but is still a very controversial issue. Many people are for and against abortions. Some people say that the child inside its mother’s womb deserves the opportunity to live, while others believe that a mother has the right to choose whether or not her fetus can live or die. Other advocates for abortion claim that abortion helps keep the threat of overpopulation down. They also say that in many extreme cases, it is in the best interest of the mother and the child that the fetus be aborted. Abortion helps keep the crime rate low, so it should remain legal, they also say.
First, I feel that abortion should be illegal because it can result in medical complications and also psychological trauma. It can cause premature birth and could also cause a baby to be handicapped in future pregnancies. A woman who has had an abortion is 2.3 times more likely to get cervical, ovarian, and or liver cancer. Abortion is the cause of 47,000 woman’s death yearly. It can cause depression for at
