Gun control is one of the most popular disputed topics in the United States right now. The government is trying to regulate how they are sold and what we do with them. We are a constitutional republic which means our government has to follow the constitution no matter what. It is plainly stated that we have the right to bear arms, and shouldn't that be the case for everyone? Gun laws should not be changed or adjusted in the United states, people depend on them for protection and maybe even a source of food. Yes gun violence is an issue, but adding more laws and regulations will not help. There will always be some way around the laws and people who use guns poorly. "One idea is ‘red flag’ legislation that would enact a procedure for temporarily taking guns away from people struggling with a threatening mental health crisis.", (Alice Shea, 9&10 News) this is just one way they are trying to control who gets to use firearms or not. People with mental illnesses need protection just as much as we do, just because they are sick does not mean they shouldn't have the same rights as everyone else. More often anger is the cause of a mass shooting and not a mental illness. We cannot put unfair laws on these people for something they cannot control. …show more content…

“As the French terrorist attacks proved, gun control doesn't work. Worse civilian disarmament leaves innocent people defenseless against killers.”,(Robert Farago). As other countries have shown, gun control is not the way to help the issue. Their will always be a way to find weapons illegally, if someone has plans to kill, what's the problem with breaking any other of the laws to do so. Also adding more restrictions will make it harder for innocent people to get weapons to protect themselves when the people who have the guns cannot protect
