Why would someone ever train a harmless puppy into a dangerous dog? Dogs are supposed to be loyal companions that make great pet’s, not vicious life threatening beasts. People that train animals to fight are morally wrong and create them as a danger to humans and other animals. Dogfighting is a horrendous activity that must remain illegal because it causes harm to dogs, trains dogs to be dangerous, and hopefully will stop dog fighting.
The origin of dog fighting goes back centuries ago. When the Romans and the British brought it into the battlefield first (Villavicencio). The British had stronger dogs but, lost the war (Villavicencio). Then dogs were brought into arenas to fight bigger animals. The evolution after that was very straight forward. Dogs would then begin to fight bulls for the sole purpose of entertainment for the people(Villavicencio). The body injuries that the dogs receive while fighting can be quite gruesome and disgusting. Dogs can lose a great deal of blood and get broken bones in a fight (Dog Fighting). The long fights and crushing impacts from the other dog’s teeth cause the broken bones and blood loss. A big part of the sport is the loser’s dog is killed or dies in the ring. Dogs that lose can become so hurt that owners will kill the dog because the dog is now useless (Dog Fighting). The sport is so horrific, who would even want to do this for a living.
