Dogfighting is an inhumane blood sport where sad dogs are pitted against each other and forced to fight for their owner’”s profit and as spectator entertainment. One dog named “Miss Rufus” spent a match stuck on her back as a dog named Bandit broke both of her front legs and a back leg. Bandit also chewed Miss Rufus’”s last leg and ripped up a chunk of skin from her head. This will continue to happen very often as long as dogfighting is around. This sport is dangerous because it originated from war, it is a felony offense, and it breeds criminal activity. The first reason that dogfighting is dangerous is that it originated from war. The article “A History of Dogfighting” says that “the genesis of dogfighting as a sport can be traced to a clash of ancient civilizations.” This shows that dogfighting is ancient animal cruelty. If this form of violence was not existing, then dogfighting may not exist as animal torture today. They are only seen as the cost of crime. The article also states that “The HSUS supports felony charges for spectators of dogfights.” Spectators provide profit and the motivation to continue in the cruel practice of dogfighting.
