It is true that a good teacher can inspire hope, ignite the imagination, and instill a love of learning. Inspiration from the teachers has changed the perspective of my life; from my first consciousness as a student in my school life to undergraduate engineering classes, my teachers have inspired me to learn more and more and to understand the intrinsic life problems. Admittedly, behind every great teacher, there is a good teaching assistant. Being teaching assistant, I want to part of the students’ life and contribute to their future by direct or indirect means.

I had taught the engineering undergraduate students the subjects such as soil mechanics, hydropower, and theory of structures. What began as tutoring sessions designed for a child to learn how to solve fractions evolved into the moment that forever parallels my revelation to become a doctor. When I first met Abby, she hid behind her mother and struggled to even count. After this disclosure, Abby began talking to me, her grades improved, and she accumulated several friends. I soon realized that the greatest lesson I taught her was not cross multiplication, but the belief that someone understood her and that she mattered. Additionally, she bestowed me the moment that began my journey to become a doctor. I just had yet to realize it.
Teachers help us expand and open our mind by giving us skills throughout students’ early life to help students when they are older. By learning information from teachers, students become better people, in a couple of ways. Besides inquiring knowledge from their teachers, students learn to work with one another, open their mind to other peoples’ thoughts and ideas, respect one another, and learn different techniques for life’s issues.
When I was born, my family had just migrated to California from Mexico. In a new country, my father worked in landscaping earning less than $4 dollars an hour, while my mother relied on public transportation to take her newborn child to and from doctor visits. In the land of opportunity, my family struggled to put a roof over our heads. But never discouraged, my parents sought to achieve their goals and worked tirelessly to raise my younger brother and I. From a young age, I was taught the importance of education; this became a major catalyst in my life. My desire to excel academically was not for self-gain, but my way of contributing to my family’s goals and aspirations.
I have always dreamed of having a career that is fulfilling where I could make a significant contribution. During my freshmen year of undergrad I started volunteering at NYP/Weill Cornell Medical Center in the oncology department. I saw how hospital staff worked tirelessly to bring joy and care to patients; each with a unique set of experiences and stories that they shared with me while I volunteered. Even though I had a strong desire to be part of the medical field, my grades in college prevented me from thinking I could have a successful career as a medical professional. Instead of seeking help, I kept on the way I was going, until I was placed on academic probation. I went through a lot of self-reflection and realized that I needed to get my life back in order. I transferred to another college and began afresh with no looking back or sulking. I regained my drive to pursue the career of physician assistant. I continued to volunteer at NYP/Weill Cornell Medical Center but transferred to the Emergency Department. It was there that I gained patient care experience and insight into the medical field. I was given the opportunity to shadow Physician Assistant Marina Lev RPA-C at an outpatient surgical clinic, and it was through her that I gained a deeper understanding of what it takes to succeed as a physician assistant. Through her work, I gained a glimpse into the future I desired for myself. Through my shadowing experience I learned to interpret x-rays, place splints, and how to conduct a thorough physical examination. The role of a PA often includes discussing a full medical history and taking the time to educate patients. I am lucky to have had amazing teachers in my past and members of my family actively involved in the teaching profession at a range of levels from classroom teachers to principal. This had fed my appetite for learning and in turn inspired me to become a teacher myself. Teaching the young minds about the world and all its wonders is, in my opinion, one of the most important things for society, if not the most important and satisfying. Task 1 The roles and duties for my role as a Teaching Assistant is to always meet the needs of the children. I am there to support not only the children but also the class teacher to make sure that the children have the best start to their education as possible. My daily timetable as a TA is meeting and greeting the reception children when they come in to the class room. I then would get some children to read 1:1 with me these children are either pupil premium or they are behind in their reading. Then I move on by taking a group of the low ability to do some phonics.
In a society where kids must go to school up to the collegiate level, teaching is an impactful career choice. Teachers help contour the minds of future leaders of the world. Furthermore, teachers play a crucial role in guiding students to the knowledge, skills, and abilities they need to succeed in life, and teachers lead students to make informed decisions on any topic the meet in the future. As a teacher, a person must relinquish their knowledge onto students. Finally, they must prepare their students for all the obstacles they will face later in life.
It’s funny how quickly time flies by it seems like just yesterday I was complaining about writing the first part of this assignment. Looking back at it now, the reasons why I want to become a teacher remain the same. I want to inspire, shape, encourage, and mentor my students. I want to make the kind of impact on each and every single one of them that they will carry on for the rest of their lives. Whether it be simply believing in them, and telling them that I know they are capable of accomplishing anything they want to, or helping them through a tough time. My desire to become a teacher has increased tremendously the past 16 weeks, and I am so eager and excited to finish my education to begin my teaching career.
Teachers serve as the guiding force in a student’s life. They are responsible for molding a student’s personality and shaping his/her mental orientation. Teachers deeply impact our lives and direct the course of our future. One cannot deny the influence of teachers in one’s life. In fact, it would not be an exaggeration to say that, till a certain age, out life revolves around our teachers. They are our constant companions, until we grow old enough to come out of their shadow and move ahead on our own.
Do you remember the teacher that inspired you to do your best? Or maybe the teacher who believed in you when the rest of the world had turned against you? Teachers have a way of touching students’ lives, whether in a large or very minute way. I can think of numerous times that a teacher made a difference in my life. I am so appreciative of them, and I want to do for other students what many of my teachers have done for me. That is why, after I obtain, both, my Bachelor and Master degrees, I plan to enter the teaching profession.
Along these two weeks we have been prompt to make a recall to our own way of learning and why we became a teacher: Was it because coincidence, due to life circumstances, maybe because family tradition, was it a conscious decision or because someone influenced us? Whatever the answer is, we have to face reality and be conscious that being a teacher does not only means to teach a lesson and asses students learning. It requires playing the different roles a teacher must perform whenever is needed and required by our learners, identify our pupils needs and preferences, respecting their integrity and individuality but influencing and motivating them to improve themselves and become independent.
I have got rich experience to learn new things and unlearn some others. Though, I have been teaching for thirteen years, I didn’t get chance to reflect my teaching and learning from others. I used to believe in student centered teaching but didn't have much idea. The CELTA course has nurtured and strengthened my passion as a teacher. It has rekindled my desire to be an innovative, resourceful, and hardworking teacher. It has given me an opportunity to reflect on my teaching, has made me confident as a teacher.
When looking forward seven years I am excited, nervous, and anxious for how my life will turn out. I am a very goal-oriented person so I have a concise plan for how I want the rest of my life to look like. Once I figured out I had a love for English, I quickly decided I wanted to be a teacher. In seven years, I plan on being married and starting a family as I go through the first couple years in my teaching career.

A teacher is a person who provides education for pupils (children), or students (adults) using lectures, audiovisual aids, demonstrations, and computers to present academic, social, and motor skills. Teachers can also teach foreign languages, art, kids with special needs, and P.E. Teaching has changed a lot compared to the traditional methods of just lectures and textbooks. Students now are encouraged to actively learn through groups or individual projects. They have learning games, debates, and experiments to help them through the learning process.
