Recommended: Recycling and its effects on the environment

Recycling is what I chose to do for my Ecology project. I decided to choose recycling because many people do it and it was something that was easy for me to do. I place a box at two businesses, I tried to aim for all businesses but I only got two out of the four I asked which were Rite-Aid and Vons. The third box was placed at a preschool named Head Start. I Had the two businesses and school place my box in their break lounge for the employees to recycle their recyclables. I started my project on October 7th and picked up all the boxes on November 1st

My main goal for my project was to get the businesses and school to start recycling the cans and bottles instead of just throwing them away. I wanted the businesses and school to understand that a single can bottle can take up so much space in the garbage landfills, not decompose and pollute the air we breathe. I also wanted them to see that, they could recycle and start getting equipment such as pens, crates, and even gloves from recycled paper, cans, bottles, and anything else that is recyclable. Lastly I wanted them to see that they could get money for the recyclables and donate to an environmental friendly charity, such as I did. I was able to get the businesses and school to recycle for a whole month but, I don’t see them recycling and sticking to a plan like I did. They just don’t see the importance of recycling.

I assume that I did not accomplish my goal I got a lot of recyclables but the money was little. When I went to go recycle, I only got eleven dollars and ninety-eight cents. I mean at least that it is some money; I know it’s not a lot but it can help. What prevented me from reaching my goal may have been the fact that employees just passed by my box without notic...

... for the desert greatly. I use to not necessarily care about recycling. I use to just care about the money that I would get from recycling. Now I care about what other materials could be made from recyclables, instead of spending money on new material to start from scratch. In our society with our current president good old’ Obama, well need to save all the money we can, although we aren’t doing that great of job. I also gained a ton of respect for our desert because; we practically live in besides our houses. By littering in the desert, in my case cans and bottles, we are slowly harming our desert its plants and animals. I will start to change my ways with the environment slowly but surely.

When people go out to buy groceries, clothes, food or any other things they should think about the purchases before they buy them. Consumers buy groceries but they chose to use plastic or paper bags. So if everyone could start recycling their cans, glass, paper and plastic that would save us a lot of energy that would need to be used to make new ones. If we can start recycling at home that will make things much easier on the waste management plants and our world.
