Personal Narrative: Welcome To Hawaii

As I got off my 14 hour flight, I felt an immediate heat wave hit me. When I was walking into the airport, I looked up to see a sign that read “Aloha, Welcome to Hawaii”. A kind polynesian gentlemen greeted me and wrapped a lei around my neck. The drive to the hotel was incredibly scenic. The air tasted so fresh and clean. Palm trees had appeared along the sides of the streets. The streets were flooded with food trucks. When we arrived to the hotel I could see the clear blue Moana around the island. The lady at the front desk informed us of the Legend of Pele’s curse which says, any visitor who takes rock or sand away from the Hawaii islands will suffer bad luck until the native Hawaiian elements are returned.
As I opened my hotel door and walked in I could see the sun set beaming through the window. I stepped out onto the Lanai and felt the sun's rays hitting my skin. I noticed that across the Punalu'u Beach, the amazing native Hawaiians laughing and having a good time. The water was the most beautiful, clear sparkling blue I’ve ever seen. The endangered Honu were spotted swimming in the ocean. For lunch, I sat at a small restaurant enjoying some fresh Mahi-Mahi and Poke. The smell of the thin crisp air put me at ease as I watched the seagulls swarm a half-eaten tuna sandwich. My Uber ride leading to my hotel consisted of Israel Kamakawiwoʻole, my favorite Hawaiian singer. The gentlemen at the front desk threw up a shaka to me and I did it back. I looked to the left of the elevator and spotted some fresh pineapple, my favorite fruit, so I couldn't help but take some with me. On the way to my room, I decided to make my way over to the gift shop to pick up some Pali sandals that I’ve seen all the tourists
