I hear the deafening crowd, the consistent footsteps, and the heavy breathing, all from the mob of people running through the streets of Boston. Looking into the crowd, I can see my mother alongside hundreds of people as her sweat trickles down their face and to the floor. I stood at the finish line with excitement, ready to see all the participants collect their medals. I arrive in Boston early in the morning, I pass by and catch sight of the unique styles and uncommon appearances I've never seen before. Hundreds of thousands of people arranged to both watch and run the Boston Marathon. One person that captured my interest was a man with a unique style and a prosthetic leg. He explained that after his injury, he was restricted and discriminated against. Individuals questioned his success due to the fact that he wasn't like others. Different hair, different clothes, different skin color. Hearing these words prompted me to reflect on my own experiences and pushed me to expand my views on the rest of the world. A simple conversation with a stranger unveiled my affection that I share with those around me. This guided me to show interest in individuals when engaging in conversations, enabling me to understand who they are as a person. I was soon able to develop these skills and use them in my everyday life. I found myself being able to connect with others naturally by showing investment in their words and relating to their lives. I managed to get a job and was surrounded by a new group of people, creating a challenge I was ready to take on. As the weeks went by, I interacted with many different employees and was able to fit in just right.
