I began watching sports when I was only one years old. A photo of me at the kingdom with my father still exists.Those were the good old days when no one knew how juiced all the athletes were. At the time it was rare for stars to bounce around. My passion for sports didn't change during my childhood; it even taught me a few valuable lessons about sports cities. Some cities are cursed. Their not destined to win championships. Others like New York and Boston consistently win. If your a perennial winner your marketing tactics are different. You don't need a clever marketing campaigning to generate excitement. Every franchise dreams of acquiring a once in a lifetime player capable of changing their fortune. Their dedication to the stateside game is admirable. Seattle's ability to remain competitive at all of levels of the game is extremely important. It's amazing how many local kids play for local clubs. International sports are often inferior. We celebrate our superiority by declaring ourselves world champions. In our minds players in their prime wouldn't have a reason to leaves the states. The only exception is international Soccer. Playing on a bigger stage is an opportunity some players can't pass up. I'm not mad that Yedlin left the club at such a young age. His abrupt departure felt College Basketball like. If he wanted to see how talented he really was more power to him. The former Sounders loyality to his former club is admirable. You can tell that he is a class act. American Soccer is a small blip on the international Soccer radar screen. Our sports growth isn't small growth isn't threatening; that label could and will change within the next ten years. In the future American Soccer will be popular and competitive. My High School Soccer club reached the state finals a few years in a row. I declined to go because at the time I didn't like Soccer. Minnesota lacked a pro team and I was obsessed with Basketball. My preferences would've changed if a local star dominated
