My American Dream
“A national ethos of the united states, a set of ideals in which freedoms includes the opportunity for for prosperity and success, and an upward social mobility achieved through hard work” is what defines the term The American Dream. Based upon, culture, religion, family background and personal beliefs, peoples opinion of this term may vary. For some people, this may mean being rich, and driving the best cars. For others this may consist of graduating college and getting a high paying job in their career choice. Regardless, everybody has their opinion of what The American Dream means to them. My american dream is to be happy,have occupational success, and graduating college with exceptional grades. An important concept of achieving my american dream is to be genuinely happy. Growing up, i always thought that having the finer and better things would bring me happiness. I mean of course, it sounds nice to live in a big house and drive the nice cars. It sounds even better to be rich and not stress bills or live paycheck to paycheck. I feel as though i would never be satisfied with that big house, money or cars. I’m a first generation college student, meaning im the first one in my family to attend a college. I jumped right into college blindsided. I had no clue what i was getting myself into, but i knew i wanted to further my education. Of course, i faced many obstacles upon starting my classes. I literally had to figure everything on my own. The process was very difficult, but i managed to start. This gives me even more motivation to do my best because i dont want all that time and hard work to go to waste. There will come a time when i have obstacles and setbacks, but If i stay focused, determined, and work hard i think the good will definitely outweigh the bad and i will be a successful college
