Personal Narrative: How Soccer Changed My Life

Introduction Have you ever wanted something so bad that you couldn’t go a day without thinking about it? I have. Since elementary school, one of my truest passions has been soccer. Growing up all would ever do is watch professional soccer games on TV and imagine myself being in the stands with other fans cheering on my favorite team. Every moment of free time rain or shine, I would be outside at the nearest park and field playing until the sun went down. Every morning, I would be up early so that I could follow the scores and news of the top European teams. The daily conversations with my friends circulated around match highlights from each game played and our anticipating outcomes. When all you do is think, breathe, live soccer, it becomes more than just a hobby. It became my lifestyle. History 100 January 2005: Finally winter break was over. It was never easy, but with friends and family always motivating me to do better, the thought of quitting never came to mind. The year of 2010 has been tough for me with school. I have encountered many difficulties to maintain my grades high enough to stay the captain of the soccer team. I remember the coach calling me over for little talks, yelling at me furiously with steam coming out of his ears to pick my grades up. Everyone in life needs that extra push from someone that wants the best for them. We have all seen movies in which even the main characters are struggling and are in need of help, and at that time I was looking to my coach as my role model.
