The way a person designs their home, from the color choice, down to the layout, says many things about their identity. Whether people want to believe it or not, humans show their personality not only through the clothes they wear, but also through their homes. A house is a sanctuary, it’s a place where people feel protected, comfortable and free. In some cases it may be the only thing people have control over in their life. There is a feeling that some people make when they enter a house that makes them feel emotionally connected to it. For me, I get this feeling from Frank Lloyd Wright’s Fallingwater House. This location represents my personality because just like how the house is hidden by trees and wooded areas, I too keep myself hidden by my shyness. The house is tucked away in a secluded area unnoticed by those who drive by on the busy streets. I too am the same way because I often keep to myself until I am spoken to. Only those who are close with me know my true personality, just like only those who venture close enough to the house, recognize its beauty. The house is built on top of a waterfall, which acts as a barrier that blocks the noise for the road by the house. This represents how I stay calm and level headed during stressful times. The sounds of the waterfall fills the house, and prevents the disruptive sounds of the cars passing by, just like my ability to block out and ignore the negative experiences. The house is designed on top of boulders, but instead of building a concrete base for the house to sit on top of, it incorporates them into its structure. This resembles me because I have grown from a young child into a young adult. Instead of starting over again every time I hit a milestone in my life, I built off of that experience, and incorporated it to create an improved version of myself. The house also put a modern twist on living in a wooded area, and instead of using the usual design, the house has many unique shapes, angles and materials. This can be compared to the process of reinventing myself; every year or so I like to change is my style and try something new. It is almost like I’m adding a modern twist to myself. The house has a structure made out of stable stones which may not be that appealing to the eyes but it creates a base for architectural beauty to build off from it. This can be compared to my journey to becoming a better person. Sometimes people have to go through tough experiences in order to grow and get to the beautiful and positive experiences in life. The interior design of the house is simplistic but natural, and has the main necessities in a house like couches, tables, and chairs, but it has added little trinkets that bring the house together.
