One of the utmost frightening events that has ever happened to me was a little run in with a massive possum. I’d never encountered a possum in real life and I didn’t want to. I’m used to discovering peculiar creatures or objects, the perks of living on a farm, but I’ve never faced anything so ugly that it scared me. Let’s just say I have definitely found a new fear! It was approximately 9:00 p.m. on a weekday when the event occurred. Earlier that week, I noticed that one of the kittens, Louis, was limping. After I examined his foot, I concluded that he must have broken it. I showed my mother and we made a splint with popsicle sticks so that he could at least hobble to the food board and water bowl. On the morning of the incident, I checked …show more content…
I almost stepped on it, which was the hair-raising part! My eyes grew wide and my mouth dropped in shock. I held onto Louis as tight as I could. I bolted to the house while screaming my head off! I sat Louise down on the sidewalk and ran in the house as fast as I could. My sister, Alison, and her boyfriend, Ben, were sitting in the kitchen when I came in. “OH MY WORD!!! Possum! There was a possum!” I exclaimed. Alison said, “What do you mean a possum?” I said, “I went around the wagon and there was a huge possum on the food board! I almost stepped on it!” Ben, being the country boy that he is, said, “Where’s it at? I want to go kick it!” I questioned his response, but showed him where it was. We went back to the barn, I was now carrying a three foot long stick, and tried to find it. As expected, it was gone. I was glad due to the fact it almost gave me a heart attack! After the possum, I consequently haven’t gone into the barn alone, except for when I feed the cats. Even then I take a stick with me so that I have something to protect myself. I wouldn’t say that I’m scared of possums, just giant possums who don’t warn you that they are present. That possum is easily in the top five of the uttermost frightening events that have ever happened to
No matter who you are, you are afraid of something. On the other hand, you also have things that you love and are even awestruck by its presence. Goodall describes her encounter with the bushbuck as an amazing sight while her encounter with the leopard was full of fear.
The paper deemed it unsafe to travel outside unless absolutely necessary because of the beast. Next, in 1901, a lumberjack on Vancouver Island reported seeing a “man beast” washing itself in a river near his base camp. The courageous lumberjack decided, there and then, to approach the beast and confront him. The strange “monkey man” quickly fled, though, as the man approached the river. Upon examining the tracks left behind, the lumberjack concluded that the prints were almost identical to that of a human, except for the extremely large size.
We take our slurpees and the three of us get into Nish’s black wrangler. We drive past large estates at the end of Murray Hill. As we roll in there's a crowd of people just waiting for the party to be started, we decide to wait with the rest of the crowd. “What happened?” I asked my classmate standing next to me . “She’s just kicking people out that she doesn’t like.” All of a sudden I see a short brunette girl come out with a speaker she screams “EVERYONE COME
These include things such as dislike of strangers, animals, drugs, and being humiliated. Regarding the subject of animals, there is an entire chapter in the text called Pet Problems that delves into this topic and some of the other fears. The story known as “The Bump in the Rug” shows the fear of being caught and animals, respectively. For in this story, a man who is installing carpeting discovers a bump under a section of the material. Thinking that it is his misplaced package of cigarettes, he simply hammers it until it is flat. However, unfortunately, the owner of the house had a parakeet which lodged itself under the carpeting (Harold, 358). A tale that focuses on the fear of drugs, in “The Stuffed Baby” from the Bringing Up Baby chapter of the text. This grotesque tale centers around a young couple who have a dead baby which they have hollowed out and filled with marijuana (Harold, 225). The fears of this one are the influence of drugs and how they could hypothetically cause people to act in an abhorrent
I escaped and rushed downstairs. I took refuge in the courtyard belonging to the house which I
I, Salamanca Tree Hiddle, was afraid of lots and lots of things. For example, I was terrified of car accidents, death, cancer, brain tumors, nuclear war, pregnant women, loud noises, strict teachers, elevators, and scads of other things. But I was not afraid of spiders, snakes, and wasps. (Creech 13)
...t. We also went to a large open field with huge trees in our surroundings and flew our kite. He was so excited how the kite was up in the air and he was running to keep it up. We had a wonderful time. We felt the breeze of the air touch our skin. We used our creativity and imagination by picking up sticks and pretending they were swords. We also pretended were enemies and were fighting for the pile of rocks which we pretended was food. In the end he won and he took over my goods and he enjoyed his victory.
Nyctophobia is the fear of the darkness and sedatephobia is the fear of silence. After watching Chucky that fateful, horrible, night I had managed to develop both of these, but sedatephobia would only become triggered when I felt trapped and alone in the dark. Consequently, due to the fact that I had gained nyctophobia, I had slept with my parents until I was ten years of age and even then it would take hours of effort to fall asleep as the silence unnerved every cell in my body. Additionally, the porcelain figurine
I looked up just as a doe came running of the ridge to my right. As I slowly reached for my range finder I noticed she was panting hard as if something was chasing her. As she made her way toward me she slowed to a trot. Then when she was about ten yards away from me she suddenly bolted!

As my Aunt and I entered Judy's house which was a fifteen minute drive from where I live, I noticed cut black and white cat long haired cat with a pink nose and mysterious slanted eyes sneaking up on me near the corner of the hallway of the house. Judy shared with me that Katie was spayed, what foods to feed the cat and that she was tramatized. Judy had shared with me that she took Katie to the Shelter to try to find the owners but to no aval. You see, Katie had showed up at Judy's arcadia door so Judy took her in and kept her for several months before deciding to give the cat away.
Introduction Phobias are defined as extreme or irrational fears, often persistent, that compel sufferers to avoid the object or situation to which their fear is connected. A specific phobia relates to a particular stimulus that causes fear, anxiety or avoidance and results in intense distress for the sufferer. A specific fear of clowns has sometimes been discussed in terms of a specific phobia. (Zidbits, 2011) Although fears of clowns have existed in many countries over history, the term is not listed in the World Health Organization’s ICD-10 nor in the American Psychiatric Association's DSM-5 categorization of disorders.
And he said he under stood. And to make me feel better, he took me out to eat ice cream. And then I had a plan…… so the next day at school I lied, and told Roxanne (the lunch lady), that my mom said yes. And so then a couple of days later, Roxanne brought the kitten, and this is how it went down…… “Knock, knock, knock.” My mom went to the door, my mom invited Roxanne in.
The fear only came when I was around dogs and saw a dog in person, not only that but I began to realize I was also scared of most animals. I wasn’t necessarily scared by seeing them but scared in a sense of getting near any animals or touching them or them touching me. Finding someone that doesn’t have a pet is hard, I learned that the hard way growing up. Most if not all of my friends had dogs growing up which meant I usually couldn’t go over or they had to be put outside and precautions had to be taken before I could go over. When I usually did go over I always heard the same things over and over again “he doesn’t bite” “he’s harmless” “he’s more scared of you than you are of him” these statements would make me feel uncomfortable, no one would really understand what I went through, there were times when I would enter a house not knowing a dog was around only to find out after I heard barks coming towards me which usually led to me running out the house in tears. My fear made life a little
In class, my teacher made me get in a group and put together a survey. On the survey we could ask any questions we wanted to, as long as it pertained to fear. Within the 2 days of passing around the survey and getting people to do the survey we ended up received many results. One specific question that shocked me when I saw the answers was“What was your fear, and why?”. Many people answered this question by saying spiders, snakes, drowning, flying, etc….. When I was reading these,I was expecting a different results more a deeper fear that has affected the way you look at that specific thing in life.
