I was involuntarily brought into the Underworld by Hades, the god of the Underworld. Before Hades took me from Sicily and brought me into the Underworld, I was picking flowers off of a field. Within an instant Hades picked me up and headed toward the portal that led to the Underworld. I shrieked for help but no one heard me. After arriving in the Underworld, Hades left me; trusting that I would not run off. However, my mind was set on escaping this monstrous place, I set myself up for an adventure I had never thought of. I thought about it for a moment or two. It was my best option, I had no other option I thought to myself. Unaware of the dangers that I would face, I took off. Many people underestimate the Cerberus in the Underworld; it is …show more content…
Apparently, it was not safe to be with the Cerberus alone. Hades said it was escorting me throughout the Underworld because it was a way of gaining my trust. He explained that the moment I turned my back on it, I would be dead. I do not believe it, there was another side to the Cerberus no one had ever seen. It was odd. Hades explained there are many destinations for “different” people in the Underworld. The first destination he took me to was Tartaros, also known as the deep pit of Hades; it was quite intimidating with the Pyriphlegethon, the river of fire, bordering it. In addition, it was bordered with gigantic walls and a solid iron gate. Lastly, it was guarded by the goddess of black magic, Hekate. She was terrifying; she’d burn torches and use her whip to reinforce orders and keep the prisoners in control. Intentionally, those who are in the Tartaros have committed crime. What I interpreted from what Hades explained is that there are bribe accepters, misers, murderers, traitors and tyrants. Shamelessly, I pointed out that he should be in the Tartaros because he’d committed crime as well. The last place Hades had taken me to was the the Elysian Fields, it was

Hercules of 1997 got put together by one of the popular Disney directors, Ron Clements and John Musker. Their earlier works include “The Little Mermaid,” “Aladdin,” and “The Great Mouse Detective,” which were movies that were astoundingly successful Disney movies that almost everyone enjoyed watching. Hercules without a doubt is one of my top Disney favourite movies, because of its really pop and melodious songs, and its simple yet very intricate plotline.
In The House of Hades, there are many underlying conflicts, but they are all directly caused by one person, Gaia. One that Percy and Annabeth are stuck in the underworld and can’t get out. Also, the demigods are trying to close the doors of death, but this is made harder because they don’t want to leave Percy and Annabeth in the underworld. The reason they need to close the door is because Gaia has been sending monsters out of Tartarus to stop the demigod from perusing their quest to save the world. In each of their quests, Gaia sends monsters to kill the demigods, then when the monster would die

The primary ruling god of the underworld is Hades whose brother is Zeus, king of the gods, and whose parents are Cronus and Rhea. Hades is a greedy god with his greatest concern being to increase the number of his subjects. He is very stubborn about letting people out of the underworld. Hades himself, rarely leaves the underworld. In one myth, however, we know of a time when he did leave his soulful domain. Hades became very lonely in the underworld, and went above and kidnapped Demeter’s daughter, Persephone, for his wife.Persephone, nonetheless, was not Hades’ only significant other. Hades had a mistress called Minthe whom Persephone later transformed into a plant. Hades is also known as the god of wealth due to the precious metals mined from the earth. He has been said to possess a helmet that was given to him by the Cyclops. This helmet has been said to make him invisible. Hades lent it to gods and mortal men. Perseus used the helmet on his quest for Medusa’s head and Athena, goddess of battle skills, put to use the helmet so the god of war, Ares, could not notice her.
Hercules, or known in Latin as Heracles, was the greatest of the Greek heroes, a paragon of masculinity. In art Hercules was portrayed as a powerful, muscular man wearing lion's skin and armed with a huge club. He was also described as being a macho man buffoon, who was very impulsive. Hercules’ home and birthing place is in Thebes, Greece. Thebes is a city in central Greece. It plays as an important setting in many Greek myths, such as the stories of Cadmus, Oedipus, Dionysus and many other important roles in Greek Mythology. The demigod, Hercules has an interesting origin, he is most famous for his 12 labors, and leaves a legacy in words and expressions.
The underworld for the ancient Greeks was a world not to be violated. Anyone who went to the underworld knew there was no return. Greek history highlights people who travel to the underworld and come back afterwards. Hercules, Odysseus, Orpheus and the god Hermes are four examples of Greek figures who have traveled to the underworld and
Mythology is known as a collection of myths, mainly belonging to a specific religion or cultural tradition. Mythology is known worldwide and is passed down, usually orally, to the youth. Mythology cannot be proven to be completely true, due to the lack of verified written proof. The three in this section include; Hindu, Egypt, and African each has their own way of how the world was created.
A mythology is an important feature of many cultures. A myth is a sacred narrative that explains how the world and humankind assumed their present form. In a broad sense, it can refer to any traditional story. A myth’s function is to provide a model for behavior and to provide a religious experience. By reenacting myths societies bring themselves closer to the divine.
Over time different beliefs surrounding the mystery of life after death have accumulated in different religions, societies and history. Undeniable by all as an inevitable fate , is the definition has changed over time . Exactly what happens in life after death ? Is there a difference in the qual there is a heaven and a hell ? Or is it simply just an underworld in which all souls come ? Regardless of faith or time period , several authors of all ages have considered these questions in high esteem. But each story is different and belief , whether Dante , Homer or Cervantes, all agree that death is inevitable and with it eternal life.
In time, all stories are changed or diluted. How the legend is told becomes slightly biased by the person telling it, or fragments are lost to memory. One of the best examples is the cultural view regarding the Greek God of Death and the Underworld, Hades.
“Myths continue to fascinate us” (Kromholz and McCarter 1). In every new generation, many children are intrigued when they read Greek Mythology, which makes it valuable teaching tool in high school literature. This beneficial teaching device should have the priority in the on-going debate about the implementation of Greek Mythology. Implementing fundamental morals of life, providing interpretations to unexplained phenomena of the world, and stimulating the minds of students to extrapolate the content, the analysis of Greek Mythology should remain as part of high school standards, despite possible contrariety with a student's religion, or set of beliefs.
Siblings have special places in our hearts. If my sibling got kidnapped to a deserted island, I would be very upset, and probably wouldn’t sleep until she was home. However, I would feel better about the situation if Greek gods were helping my family bring my sister back. Two Greek gods that would be fit for this situation would be Hades and Poseidon.
Hades was implacably just; he should never be thought of as the devil, a concept alien to committed good or evil deeds himself, without promoting from a good or evil force. Nor was Hades a punisher: he was never feared in that way because the Greeks never thought in this way. He was usually only harsh when souls tried to leave the Underworld and, or, tried to cheat death. Any man arrogant, stupid, or foolhardy enough to offend the gods, was punished by the gods, the lord of the nether world having no more or less to do with it than the other Olympians As Hades, he was the god to whom all must go sooner or later but, the living shrank to giving him a name to one who became their lord upon death. His presence was not welcomed by men or by gods. Hades is described by some sources as the god of the earth’s fertility. The destination of most of the dead were the field of Asphodel (Asphodel is a flower that grows in the barren of the
