The smell of barbeque was moving down the dam at Lake Carlyle. Families and friends come here to fish, eat, and relax in the sun. There were kids who mindlessly played on the slides and swings at the playground. The kids were loud as they were screaming and shouting at the top of their lungs. People were fishing almost everywhere. All of the good fishing spots were filled. Looking for a good fishing spot was tough. Good fishing spots are closer to the water falling from the dam. That’s the spot I think where most fishes are. My family was there at the dam with me along with one of my friend. Dad and mom had a day off of work and planned this fishing trip for a while. All they did was work and come home to do more work. It was a Sunday, a day we can get out of the house for once out of the week. I was looking forward to catching a big fish and bringing it home. The drive took 45 minutes and a few stops for some more supplies but we made it.
“Ahh, oh yeah!” I yelled, while getting out of the car.
There was pain in my legs from not moving it during the drive. I stretched as much as I could. Bending side to side and reaching each toe. There was a bad odor that flow through my nose. The smell got to me after a few minutes of being outside. It was so foul and I couldn’t resist the smell. I covered my nose with my shirt, trying to spot the source of the smell. I had a feeling it was coming from the dumpster that was a few yards from us. “Stop it, it’s just dead fish” my dad said, “come and help me” I uncovered my nose and ran over to help my dad with the equipment. There’s a white bucket and a few small fishing rods left in the car. Everyone else had their hands full and already left the parking area. They were rushing to a spot before someone else might take it. My mom picked out a spot in the shade. It was near a gigantic tree with leaves that blocked the sun. We went along with her decision and setup our chairs and fishing
After we got tired of the pool me and my family started to head to the beach. So as we walked we noticed an amazing shell so we went and picked it up and there was a snail inside of it. It jumped out of its shell at my dad and scared us to death. After that we set it back free in the ocean, the we went and played around in the amazing water. My mom and my grand ma went to go and get lunch from the beach side café. They had the best food on the beach, we all ate our lunch and were stuffed
I rushed out to the truck as the horn blared. I threw my things into the truck and we went off towards the woods. I had to talk to Kevin about where the deer come from when i am sitting in the stand. He told me everything I needed to know about the place less than 10 minutes in the hot and humid truck. Well let's go back to see what led to this.
I have been fishing the lakes and rivers of the southeastern United States for most of my life and for most of that time I have been pursuing the common carp. But about 15 years ago I started catching these strange new fish occasionally when I was carp fishing. I can remember as if it were yesterday the first time I landed this stunning silver giant, and I had not a clue what it was. At the end of that session I rushed home and began looking thru every book I had on fresh water fishes. Finally, I found a picture of a fish that I believed was the same one I had caught. It was a White Amur or as it is more commonly known, grass carp.
My uncle and I started getting everything setup so we could start fishing. I grabbed my fishing rod, placed the bait on the hook, unfolded my chair, and waited for a fish. Tim saw me sitting by myself so he walked over to the dock to talk to me about some stuff; he started telling me about his most prized/special catfish, the albino catfish. The albino catfish lived
It was an exciting day for me and I didn’t even know what was going to happen. My grandpa came to my house and then he told my brother Luke and I that he was going to take us on a fishing trip to Canada with his friend. We were so excited when he told us I told Grandpa, “This will be the best summer vacation ever!” After he told us we went and got gear like fishing poles, rain suites and food. When we got to the house the morning we were leaving, he showed us a picture of the cabin we would be staying in for the week. It took us a while to pack the car we all packed some of the same foods.
I got together with Sierra and Adrianna to cook our lobsters. It was a sane process because as we began cooking, we had the chance to know each other better and become friends. First, I boiled my lobsters the night that I received them. The smell of the lobster was so bad, I could have sworn I smelled it for two whole weeks. Then, the coming Monday I began the process of making lobster tail picatta. As I started shucking, I soon discovered that it was a very hard task to accomplish. I had to use a hammer I had around the house to be able to open the tail of the lobster. After I finally was able to receive the meat from the lobster tail, I set it aside. The second part was creating the salad. Afterwards, I washed the lettuce in the sink, then
"When done under the rules of good sportsmanship, duck hunting is a culmination of art, skill, and scientific endeavor. It is also an act of love, for who loves the birds more than the hunter." --Bob Hinman, The Duck Hunter's Handbook, 1974. This quote, I believe applies to all kinds of hunting. This was not clear to me, however, until I was around thirteen years old. I am sure glad that it is now, though.
I woke up at 4:38 a.m. to a call from my buddy Whit, and he said he was on his way to pick me up so we can go duck hunting. The dark morning sky was cold and wet. Fighting to get out of my bed, I finally had the courage to get ready after sitting there for ten minutes. I woke up too tired because of my stupid mistake of staying up too late the night before. Awakened now and ready to go, I looked at my weather app to look at the specific temperature, and it appeared to be 21 degrees with a light breeze. I knew it would be colder on the water, so I dressed properly covered in camouflage, warm gear. I grabbed my gun and bullets, and the day was on as I shut the door quietly, not wanting to wake my sleeping mom.
A. The Reconstruction period took place after the Civil war from 1865-1877 by Abraham Lincoln to rebuild the South that occupied Union soldiers. There were many changes that affected African-Americans, such as amendments 13-15, which gave them certain rights. This period was very important for Blacks in America, it was the time when they were completely free from slavery and the citizenship changed how they lived their lives. They were given civil rights, which gave them the right to sue or sit on juries, voting, and owning property. This time frame also gave us the creation of the first public school systems in the South. There were changes in the labor force and working conditions, which came about with sharecropping. Many people see hunting and fishing as the slaughtering of innocent animals for no reason other than sport and fun. However, the truth is, hunting and fishing are beneficial to people, environments, and the economy. Hunting and fishing are beneficial to the economy because they cause a major economic impact. Hunting and fishing are beneficial to environments and people because they reduce damages done by wildlife overcrowding. Hunting and fishing are also beneficial to people because they provide a healthy, affordable source of food.
Hunting “Wake up,” my dad whispered “wake up.” It was late November. It was cold and dark out. But the best part was that it was deer hunting. I have been waiting for this time the whole year.
Fishing is a wonderful sport. Heading out for a day of fishing is almost always enjoyable. Sometimes it's relaxing, other times it's exhilarating, and at times it's downright exciting. It's especially exciting when it's time to fish for marlin. It's important to use the correct rod, reel and lure.
Dad jerked the exhausted car to a halt in a shady spot. He leapt out and flipped the hood up. He poured his water bottle into the radiator. The car hissed furiously at the indignity of being driven so far. This was just the first part of the journey. We still had to get back across the state four days later. But to save you the pain and anguish I’ll leave the story here for now.
It was selfish of us and one could say that we deserved what we got. From that point on, never again have
We all grabbed our lawn chairs and cozied up next to the roaring red fire. I always sat a little too close, enough to where the fire burnt a hole straight through my favorite pair of flip-flops, assuring me to never make that mistake again. S’mores was all of our favorite bed time snack time and a perfect way to end the night. Every time I would roast my marshmallow until it became slightly brown, mushy, and not too hot in the center; then I 'd put it between two graham crackers and extra pieces of chocolate. One too many s’mores and a belly like later I laid back in my chair and listened as Nancy told us stories. Before going to bed Nancy told us about her favorite past times here as a child and how just like the little girl we saw fishing, she was also afraid of fishing. She told us stories about how much the campground has evolved since she was a child and how every year she promises to take us here and to keep it a tradition. At bedtime Alicia and I crawl into our tents and snuggle up in our warm sleeping bags. We talked to each other about how sad we felt that it was almost the end of summer, and how nervous we felt to start our freshman year of high school. However, our conversations ended when Nancy yelled at as from the other tent to keep quiet and go to bed. I’d fallen asleep that night to the sound of the fire crackling out and the crickets chirping
