Cheerleading Life
I had just turned in my cheerleading packet for football cheerleading tryouts. I was very nervous as tryouts had started the following week. During tryouts we were judged on our participation, our quickness on picking up a dance or 8-count, stunting, cheers and chants, as well as our actions during tryouts. The tryouts lasted for four days and on the fifth day we had tryouts in front of judges whose scores would determine whether or not we would be on the team. That same weekend of tryouts on Sunday afternoon around 12 o’clock we would find out if we made the team. While sitting in church I went to the school's website I was afraid to look at the numbers posted so I handed the phone to my mom. She asked me “what was your number?” I told her “12” She started smiling and showed me the phone’s screen , and i saw the number twelve the fourth number on the list.

Running the same routine over and over since the beginning of August until the middle of September. Bodies are aching, feet are sore and we all feel as though we have been ran over by an eighteen wheeler. Cheerleading is our passion and we love to do it, but by early September we are all ready to quit. Practice Monday through Wednesday from three-thirty to six o’clock . Sometimes practices would even go until seven thirty , Coach Steeves would yell "You girls aren’t leaving until you hit your stunt”. Cheerleading takes hard work , determination and dedication just like other sports. The only difference is that at competition, judges have the final say as to who came in first place. We have to put it all on the mat for ten minutes, and hopefully we will hit everything
