I am grateful to have Derick as my sponsor. Upon first meeting him he seemed like a really chill person that I could easily get along with. After my pinning was over, he drove me to Happy Lemon for the fundraiser and we talked about many different things like our taste in music. He is also always checking up on me to make sure I do not forget things like my money order and my pin, which is something I am very grateful for. Derick told me about how his sponsor, Justin, took him to Johnny Rockets, so I decided to go there for our outing. During our outing, he help me understand more about the workings of Alpha Phi Omega. He even shared with me his own pledging experience which made me feel a lot better about my own situation. He shared with me
Women of Delta, especially the ladies of the Alpha Tau Chapter, excel excessively in everything they accomplish and partake in from what I have seen on Southern Universities campus and in the community. Their outstanding work ethics, academics success, social friendliness, dominating attitudes, and constant need to help others is just a few explanations why I would be honored to be a lovely member of ...

My experience as the service chair encouraged me to try out for another position for the upcoming semester. This time with the goal of encouraging diversity and growth of our members. I created the Deserving Darlin Scholarship, which would be awarded to one member who excelled all of the standards of a Texas Darlin. Alone, I was able to facilitate, organize, and raise over $500 for the scholarship. After months of planning and reading scholarship applications, I was finally able to award the scholarship. At that moment I felt that same adrenaline as I did when I received the student council announcement. Except this time, I felt that I had accomplished my long held dream, to grow as a leader and positively impact those around me, something
Kappa Alpha Psi Inc. has played a large part in my life in a short amount of time; this organization has granted me the opportunity to attend college through a scholarship. The scholarship that I was granted was through the alumni chapter in Fayetteville; it required letters of recommendations, a transcript, an application, and an essay on what I believe “Achievement in every field of human endeavor” means. Once I received the call that was telling me to meet the representative to receive a letter stating whether I received the scholarship. When I opened the letter, two tickets fell out for the Kappa Scholarship ball, and when I read the letter, it stated that I have been picked to receive the scholarship from Kappa Alpha Psi Inc. The weekend of the scholarship ball, my mother planned a graduation trip for a couple of friends of mine and I to go Myrtle Beach. So the day of the scholarship ball, I drove from Myrtle Beach to Fayetteville to attend the scholarship ball; once I arrived at the ball, I was greeted by many men of Kappa Alpha Psi Inc. When I sat down at the table that they reserved for me and the three other scholarship awardees, I was approached by many men of the fraternity. That night was very spectacular and eventful; the men who had presented me scholarship seemed down to earth, sociable guys. They treated me with so much respect, and talked to me about how I see my future and told me what I could do to be a successful African-American in today’s society. These men set an example of accomplishment and in the short time that we had together, they instilled in me that I should never be content with where I am and I can always do better as long as I have the mind set of an achiever. Without this scholarship, I ...
To begin , I am writing this for my beloved boyfriend, Ethan Daigle, on the matter of his recent purchase of a car, a Jeep Cherokee Sport 1992. For a bit over a year this High School student has been talking constantly about saving up for a nice old Cherokee to transport himself around to extracurricular activities such as Civil Air Patrol, Boy Scouts, and meeting with his band mates . With lots of dedication and research he finally found a man on "5miles" who was willing to negotiate monthly payments with him, sense he is only 17 years of age you can imagine how difficult it was to find someone to work with a teenager. After negotiating with this man, he finally got his Jeep Cherokee! Although, it was not the most spiffy looking car he was
The Crucible was the turning point in literature and in history. It showed how people were convicted with only a minute amount of evidence. The only thing that would have caused a person to be convicted was if people went into hysterics. However, for someone to be accused of using witchcraft, someone else has to say he or she had seen them practicing it or they were the only person who could see it. The trials caused some of the characters to learn new attributes about themselves. Elizabeth Proctor is more reserved. John Proctor, on the other hand, is more prideful; whereas, Reverend Hale is more confident. These three characters go through their own personal journeys and uncover the person within them beneath the surface, which in turn broadcasts their true identity to the audience.
This was a very difficult Journal for me. As I tried to think back to my childhood, I could
Just before sunrise, on Oct. 12, 2003, the residents of Argyle Road in Brooklyn were woken by gunfire.
Throughout all the sinful things Hester Prynne has done, she still managed to obtain good qualities. Hester was an adulterer from the book The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne. Hester was looked down upon by the citizens of Boston because of the sin she and another person committed, but no one knew who her partner in crime was because she refused to release his name. Towards the very end of the story Hester’s accomplice confessed and left Hester and Pearl feeling joyous, because now they didn’t have to keep in a secret. Hester is a trustworthy, helpful, and brave woman throughout The Scarlet Letter.
I feel like I have wasted 14 years, 4 months, and 24 days of my life waiting for him to change. Every night lying in bed, terrified, paralyzed by fear, praying that God would allow something to happen to me while protecting my children that would wake him up as to what he has right in front of him. Sleeping next to him every night feeling alone and wondering if this was normal. I kept blaming myself for not being good enough and that forced me to sacrifice more and more to win him over, hoping that I would one day be good enough. I never realized that I was in love with a fake person who never truly loved me anyways. He only loved controlling me.
Last saturday Kelso Stackhouse and I were bored out of our minds. Kelso was very hungry but all I have is shrimp, and stupid fancy food. Kelso hates fancy food so we needed to buy all the junk food possible. I just got my cash from my parents for mowing multiple lawns. The Cash was burning a hole in my pocket so I needed to spend it on something. Then I came up with the idea “Let's get some sunny D”. Kelso was so up for the trip that he was about to run out the door he was so hungry
When I first came to the US I did not know anyone. I had left my family and my friends back in Sweden, and I needed to create new relationships and meet new people so that I would not be all alone. To become a part of the Club soccer team was not even a question, but to become a part of Pi Beta Phi was not planned. All of my friends were signing up for recruitment, so I decided to do the same. One of them, named Andi Menaul, did not only sign up for sorority recruitment, she was rushing Alpha Kappa Psi too. During these two years she has been talking about Alpha Kappa Psi, and I have been listening to all of the different events and things that she had done and learned.
My brother and I were at the Bronx Public Library with a few of my brother’s friends. The library was located right in the heart of the town, overlooking The Coachman’s Inn, which happened to be my mother’s workplace. The dirty, graffitied, cream bricks of the library gave off a sketchy vibe. The librarians were the meanest people you could meet. They were always yelling at us for making too much noise, even when we weren't making a sound. I was wearing my white polo shirt and my navy blue skirt; my brother wearing his light blue polo shirt and his creme khaki pants.
I apologize for my no call no show today! This morning was not a morning that I could win. Something you don't know about me is that I suffer from Bipolar Depression. For me this has been a struggle that I have been dealing with in undergrad that I have not until this past year really learned what is going on with my body. This morning was the final blow to my self that yet again that I am going to have to change medications or something in that nature will have to happen. I have been in denial telling myself that it is that I am not getting enough sleep or this or that, but this morning I could not will myself to get myself out of bed and that is a problem. I am taking the appropriate steps in contacting my doctor to get an appointment
Les Brown an American motivational speaker said, “We were all born with a certain degree of power. The key to success is discovering this innate power and using it daily to deal with whatever challenges come our way.” Brick walls taught me how to be responsible, courageous and patience.
