Something interesting about me is that I love creating costumes and clothes. From the age of twelve, I was using hot glue and fabric to create cat ears as a costume for an anime convention that I would go to with my friend and her family. Two years after that, I created a costume for a video game character named Freddy Fazbear. It was a simple costume because I did not know how to sew yet, but after taking a one week sewing class during the summer, I was able to create clothes for myself. A month after the sewing class, I went on to create an entire costume for another video game character that I loved. The costume that I created was made up of a tank top, a hooded jacket, a pair of shorts, a pair of shoes, and a staff with the character’s
He said the worst thing they [costume designer] can wear are interesting clothes. “Nothing destroys confidence like cleverly inventive clothes worn by your costume or wardrobe person because it means you are spending time thinking about yourself. You need to save all of your energy and design essence for the work.” -Long, William. Interview.
The air hung around them, tensed and quiet. The fragility of her emotion was threatening to shatter. It is as if that time stood still for her. She fingered the brim of her notebook, nervously and took notice of the cup of coffee on her side. Controlling the sudden urged to drown the caffeine all at once; she carefully picked the cup and warily sipped its content. It had long been cold, and her tongue appreciated that fact.
Throughout the year hotels, convention centers, and other high capacity venues are transformed into a social haven and meeting ground for fellow Otakus and cosplay fans or cosplayers for short. The act of cosplay, the abbreviated form of “costume play”, is defined by Oxford Dictionary as “the practice of dressing up as a character from a movie, book, or video game, especially one from the Japanese genres of manga and anime”. However, there is much more to a cosplayer than this simple definition leads one to believe. To its most dedicated patrons, cosplay is an art form incorporating unlimited mediums, such as textile fabrication, woodworking, clay sculpting, resin casting, and even theatrical makeup. Some enthusiasts take cosplay far more seriously than a weekend social hobby. While some would be content with purchasing a commissioned piece or mass produced costume for their convention adventures others are not satisfied until they have handcrafted a masterpiece with 100% accuracy. These cosplayers will spend week or months and hundreds of dollars insure their costume is a perfect adaption of their selected character. Yet for some that is still not enough. There are those who will not be content until they have become the living embodiment of their chosen character. They become the method actors of cosplay, memorizing the characters personality, walk, quirks, and vocalics. Going even deeper into the realm of cosplay, there are still those who are so obsessed with becoming a character they will paint their skin, whether it be pink, grey, green, or any color in between. This is where a sensitive debate explodes. Coloring yourself grey or pink for your Marceline or Princess Bubblegum adventure time cosplays will ...
At that moment I knew it was all over. I sat on the edge of my seat and covered my eyes.
There are many things that have molded me into the person I am today such as being born into a family with four children. With three siblings, I have been forced to be able to work out problems from stealing each other’s toys to having to rush to the emergency room to get stiches because my brother chased me around the house and I tripped. My mother, father, brother, and two sisters were all born in Pennsylvania and I am the odd ball and I was born in Adrian, Michigan. From when I was a child I always loved being involved with sports because of my competitive nature. I grew up playing soccer and having success with that but then my love changed and I began playing lacrosse and football. I started playing lacrosse in middle school and played
It all started the day that I learned to crochet. One day we had a day off of school while I was living in the group home, and one of the older girls was sitting by herself crocheting a beanie. It was the
I am by myself wearing my blue jeans and an old flannel shirt. It is cool outside but I decided to leave my gloves at home, feeling comfortable with my warm shirt and my sturdy boots.
Upon searching the web, I was able to pick the above picture which is reprehensive of the seven objectives of costume design. I am not aware of the play or storyline; nevertheless, I can see the objective clearly and I conclude the designer’s goals were accomplished The tone and style take my imagination to a swinish buckle pirate in cavalier boots. The swords drawn indicate to me a serious scene.

I enjoy making sketches of clothing that one day will hopefully be available in stores all over. Fashion designing in my opinion is a way to express the unique side of your creativity, also fashion designing is a career that I believe I can achieve in so highly if I stay focused and continue to putting forth effort in my creations. I could see interior designing as a possible career in my future because it’s somewhat similar to fashion designing just in the designing area. Both involve having a since of style and an eye for color, texture and pattern coordination.
I really love to draw and imagining my own little world. Watching many animations has influenced me a lot. I learnt how people made those animals speak, how those lifeless dolls become alive, and how another dimensions of mythical creatures can be created. Since then, I know that I wanted to do this for my whole life. It has inspired me to do something that I love as a career. Imagine that you are supporting your financial needs by doing something that you love. It has been my dream since a little kid to put my imagination to life.
Cosplay, a portmanteau that joins the words “costume” and “play,” is a hobby in which participants called cosplayers dress up for costumes from the characters which are from comics books, games and cartoons of the US - to anime and manga - comics and cartoons of Japan, that they love. This is a new subculture that came from Japan then became widely popular to the world, but not all people understand what it really means. They still have some negative thought about it. As for myself, cosplay is much more than a hobby. It is “the art of costume play,” which also has its difficult and challenging, and can consider as a job.
Now, before you even think about the type of dress form that you would like to have, there are a few questions that you
...is instilled in me, that I must gain as much knowledge as possible in order to succeed in life. In the fashion industry, one must continue to learn about the world around them in order to keep up with the changes in the industry. There are many different ways today that I can keep up with what is going on in the fashion world without going to school, but school will prepare me for the challenges that are to come. The only previous work experience that I had working in a fashion was at Mortal Kombat. I did not stay at the job very long because of personal issues that I had with staff. I feel that I need to get involved in some type of fashion job so that I can network better. Networking is essential in the fashion business, because you may never see people that you want to talk to but word-of-mouth can open doors that lead you in the direction that you wanted to go.
Everybody; old and young have active an imagination, but we all express it differently than others. For me I express my imagination with my artwork. For example; when I was younger I watched a lot of cartoons just like any other kid. My favorite cartoon at the time was He-Man. I loved the show so much that I frequently dreamt and imagined of being strong like him, but I knew it could not be possible so instead of dreaming, I drew up an entire comic book of myself being a super strong super hero just like He-Man all thanks to my vivid imagination and artistic ability. I’m sure I’m not the only one who has done something similar.
