Well the year of 2011 is when I actually thought about real estate. Watching the first couple of episodes of ‘The Property Brothers’ I was hooked on the thought of flipping and selling my own houses. Really just the thought of being self employed and not working a hourly paying job was the icing on the cake. The job duties and personal characteristics for a real estate agent are really good for me personally which I will discuss. Education and the work setting will also benefit me in many ways. The wages and employment outlook really don't apply to me which I will also touch bases on. At this point I will begin to analyze the research I’ve obtained on the occupation of real estate. First lets talk about the job duties and personal characteristics for a real estate agent. You have to work with property buyers to help them navigate the nature of the property market. Agents must talk to clients to find out what kind of property they are looking for, what they're willing to sell or pay, and if they're looking for anything special in the property. As a real estate agent you should have a problem solver mind set, be self motivated, have hustle and tenacity, have an engaging personality, some type of interest in houses, and have a understanding in the housing market. This career has the personal vale …show more content…
A real estate agent needs to complete a real estate training program to become listened. A bachelors in real estate is actually equivalent to a real estate license. You also need at lest 1-3 years of sales experience to work under someone. Well a normal work setting for a real estate agent would be about 40 hours a week, but since I will be self employed I will control my schedule. You still have to be able to accommodate your clients schedule so there are a lot of irregular hours. Some sales agents work part time and combine their real estate activities with other
The State of Missouri requires professionals to obtain a license before providing services to the public, in many careers. Misconceptions hold that issuance of licenses is just something that is needed in order to charge money for services. Licenses are issued however, because the public puts their trust in professionals who are more knowledgeable than they are. Many people today want to avoid the hassles and risks associated with the transfer of land, so they put their trust in licensed real estate professionals. The Missouri Broker Disclosure Form (MBDF) is a document used by the Missouri State Real Estate Commission that attempts to provide the public, knowledgeable information, about agency relationships (the fiduciary relationship between buyers/sellers and agents). It also holds real estate agents and brokers somewhat accountable to the public in representing them in their best interest; all real estate agents are required to present and explain this form to buyers and sellers. It seems in today’s society that greed, corruption, and self-interest has spread like an infectious disease and we live in a world where it is risky to put our trust in other people. The government tries to respond to that corruption by putting into place more regulations and laws to keep people honest. In summary, the Missouri Broker Disclosure Form is a document designed to help the public make an informed choice about the agency type, of the people that they are putting trust in, and the fiduciary commitments due to them.
The next portion of the chapter talks about how real-estate agents use information to gain power and wealth. Most real-estate agents have a better sense of knowing the condition that a home or apartment is in, and this gives them an upper-hand against the buyer or seller. Like the Ku Klux Klan, real-estate agents use secret words and information to
Such as needing a license, the time and energy you need to become the best Broker possible. The guaranty of always having a job, within a matter of years becoming your own boos by starting your own company, and what you will earn in return for making peoples lives a whole lot better. The things I already know about Real Estate are as follows. I know that you will never lose your job. The reason why you will never lose your job is because people are always trying to buy a house or sell a house,or a piece of their property etc..
Real estate agents have one of the largest gender-based wage gaps in today’s economy. There is not one particular economic approach that explains this gap, but a combination of the human capital and statistical discrimination models may account for much of the gap between the wages of male and female real estate agents.
A real estate agent is a person who sells and rents out buildings and land for clients. This career is very important if you are buying a house, but you don’t really know what you’re doing. Real estate agents can help to guide you through the process, and answer any questions you have. Real Estate has always been around, it just wasn’t referred to as an actual occupation. Real estate companies didn’t start until around the 1950’s. People could now officially buy and sell houses, and make money from it at the same time.
As a child, I have always had an obsession for watching action movies with my father. We always had that bond with one another, action movies were typically the only movies we would watch. The longer I would watch the movies the more thoughts came across my head. Since then I always wondered if I should focus my career in Law Enforcement. I would always say “Mom, Dad, I am going to be a Policeman.” The more I continued to watch these movies the more I would convince myself to become a Policeman. At one point in time I realized that the crime scenes would catch my attention way more than Policeman. Then I realized that my obsession was not based on Law Enforcement it was based on Forensic Science. A thought occurred to me, what would it be
“Hot off the press! Get your guide on what not to do when purchasing a home.” I wish I had a guide like this one before I purchased my second home. I had warning signs all around me that I chose to ignore. The only thing I knew for sure is I wanted a four bedroom two car garage and I was going to get it anyway possible. Later I received a crash course on the grueling process of going through a short sale and all the stress it puts on your relationship. Though losing this home, I learned not to take on more than I can handle. This is important because it can put a lot of pressure on your marriage, family and you.
I come in here and do what I'm asked without hesitation, I am always a team player. I don't complain about things, I am always respectful and professional to my co-workers and our patients. Everything that I wanted to do this year have been placed on hold because of this. I didn't plan on being a Front Office Assistant forever. Whenever something happens in this office you can ask my manager I am always trying to think of the bigger picture and find ways to improve things here. The accusations that were brought against me are totally not my character. Take some time to ask the people I work with on the daily.
“As one person I cannot change the world, but I can change the world of one person.” I relate to this quote by Paul Shane Spear because it mirrors how I feel about pursuing a career in nursing. I want to be able to help others as much as I can. Arriving to this career choice was not a simple decision for me. What influenced me most in wanting to be a nurse was helping my grandfather during the past several years, and helping him through different illnesses and surgeries. My grandfather, who I call Papa, lives with me and my immediate family. I feel blessed to have the opportunity to help him because he and I are very close and he is my best friend. Through my involvement in helping him heal from his medical challenges, I was able to come
Entry into the real estate industry is almost free (Goolsbee, 2005, Online) and there are many agencies that operate within the industry. The products sold by real estate agencies are not homogenous products (Coiacetto, 2006, Online). Each product is as unique as the next, in terms of its location, features, building and financing.
that I wanted to pursue a career in the medical field but I was not sure
For my experience in this field I went in and interview my dad and asked him about something’s that he does around the office and what the big part of his job is and he explicated. I found out that there are very high risks in this job because you are handling people’s money, when sometimes this is the customer’s whole life savings going into your hands to try to make money. This would work well with me because I am very good with numbers which, leads to being really good in math. From the interview I also learned that you have to be a people’s person because most of the job is trying to get people to let you handle their most in return for a commission or a part of the money that will be made. I learned that this job will be me sitting at a desk for most of the day and sometimes sitting down with old customers or new customers deciding what route they want to take with their money. I liked that my dad is very dexterous or skillful.
The first step to buying your home is assessing your financial situation. A person must evaluate how much exactly they can afford and borrow. Most people hire a real estate agent to find a home. A real estate agent can help in finding different homes that suit the person’s needs. At the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s website, “You'll want to start searching for a broker as soon as you decide to buy a home. Talk to several and find someone you think you'll be comfortable working closely with”(1) Having a wide range of options is always helpful. An agent can also help in negotiating the price, and showing what the potential buyer needs after finding a home. A buyer might also need the services of a lawyer, a loan officer, insurance agents, and an accountant. In all purchasing your own home is a daunting task if you plan on doing it alone.
2. What personality characteristics are likely required for this career? How does you own personality match/not match?
As compensation they charge a fee for this agreement. Agent and Brokers also differ from a merchant wholesaler because they do not own goods and services that they buy and sell. Agents works closely with buyers and sellers with more lasting businesses (Kotler & Keller, 2012). An example of an agent with this representation is a real estate agent who enters into a contract to sell a house or business to a consumer. The relationship exists until the need is met and at this point the agent collects a pre-determined
