Being able to control and decide your actions, thoughts, and morals is a huge privilege in today's world. There are many values and challenges of having independence. Some values are that people get to express how they feel and decide what to do, people get the respect they wanted, and not everyone gets blamed for a mistake one person has made; however, There are also many challenges like people get punished for their mistakes, they have to take responsibility for their actions, and people have to live up to the standards they were given. Personal Independence should be virtued by everyone, and people should be honder to have it. First, Personal Independence should not be taken lightly and should be valued all over the world. People also get respect for the decisions they make. If someone does an astonishing job on something then they get to take the credit and earn the respect for doing this good deed. Lastly, not everyone gets blamed for one mistake. When one person on the team or in a company makes a mistake then they have to take the credit for doing that mess up. This prevents everyone getting a finger pointed at them and everyone taking the blame. There aren't only values in personal independence but also many challenges. In contrast, there are many challenges to having personal independance. People have to take responsibility for their actions. If someone does something wrong then they have to step up and admit to it possibly be punished. For example, children who do something wrong get punished by being grounded or put in time out. With personal independence they can not just throw it off onto someone else, but they have to take responsibility for their actions. It is also hard to live up to the standards personal independence gives to people. Since people have authority over their own lives they have to live up to the high standards of others and of

“Everyone makes a difference, no matter what they do or in which department they work.” (Andrica 44). A very important concept to remember in any organization is that everyone is important. The book Creating Magic: 10 Common Sense Leadership Strategies from a Life at Disney by Lee Cockerell explains this concept in the first leadership strategy that the Disney Corporation uses. People wonder why Disney is such a magical place; it is because they follow this simple strategy. “Disney emphasizes that courtesy is more important than efficiency.” (Lee 34-35). Making everyone important is significant to having a smooth running organization for a number of reasons; these reasons include making people feel like they matter, listening to everyone’s opinions, making more productive members,
Can certain people assume absolute rights over others? Do people deserve a voice in determining what goes on in their lives as well as their country? Are people liable for their own actions? The questions asked above all fall under one theme that will be discussed: autonomy and responsibility. The American Heritage Dictionary defines the word ‘autonomy’ as self-government or the right to self-government; self-determination; independence.
When in the course of human events, It becomes necessary for students to gain independence from parents and teachers and must state the reasons for why we seek to be independent. It is our sole responsibility and our right to declare our freedom from our parents and teachers and which is why it demands of us to write our own Declaration of Independence to earn the freedom and equality that we seek to gain from our elders.
People should benefit from freedom, equality and justice. Absolute freedom is sometimes very dangerous and may destroy the basic principles of the society. A lot of people believe that freedom means doing whatever you want, whenever you want.
and I sometimes prefer to be told what to do, it’s easier. I wouldn’t support a decision I didn’t approve of, but I surround myself with those I trust. We have the right to any freedoms because of “The Declaration of Independence”, we can be who we want to be. Everyone is unique and has varying views on everything, independence is a widely accepted and preferred that has become necessary, but it doesn’t have to be like that all the time.

A noted philosopher Ayn Rand said, “An individualist is a man who says, I will not run anyone’s life- nor let anyone run mine. I will not rule nor be ruled. I will not be a master nor a slave. I will not sacrifice myself to anyone- nor sacrifice anyone to myself.” Rand has defined individualism in a way where every man, is an independent sovereign entity who has certain inalienable rights to his own life. A moral ideal Americans have embraced since the founding of the Declaration of Independence has been to create a government that protects individual liberties and stresses the importance of self-government. The America at the time our nation was beginning to build itself, expressed individualism through the fundamental liberties and
However, if by chance it was up to one individual to make this decision, it would be unfair to everybody else in the society. It would make that one person, much like a dictator, by controlling everyones’ decisions and wants. Therefore, a society should find a balance between individuality and society.
This class has enlightened me to many topics that make up the subject of organizational behavior. However, there is one topic that has gained my attention, and that is Autonomy. Autonomy gained my attention because it is when management lessens its controls on the way employees complete their tasks, sometimes even allowing employees to do their jobs without any supervision at all. Autonomy is interesting to me because it is breaking the traditional mindset of micromanaging and that it was the only way to improve productivity.

During the course of my education I will need to try very hard using a lot of effort, courage, and skill to achieve my goal; becoming a physician assistant in orthopedic surgery. Status is defined as, the relative social, professional, and other standing of something or someone. In the future when I am trying to obtain a job in a hospital I want to be of good status on the list of people applying for that spot. I want to shine over the others, so I have a better chance at being hired. Once I am hired somewhere, I want to also be of good status professionally. I want to outshine some of my competition for possible promotions in the healthcare field. Lastly, autonomy is defined as, the ability of someone to make decisions, speak, or act on their own behalf. As I become more independent after I start to finish school, I need to make decisions for my own self. As a grown adult I have the ability to make my own decisions and not have anyone choose them for me. In the healthcare field, autonomy is really important and often a debatable area for healthcare providers. This would come into play when someone would need to sign an informed consent for a first visit at the doctors, which implies that you’re an autonomous adult signing the form. I would say that these are all strengths of
In my beliefs independence can not be the definition of what your government says is independent. For if you go by what the government says is independent than why not go by Chinas definition of independence, or by the communists party’s definition of independence. If you go by any governments definition of independence than you are not truly going to be independent. For each governments definition of independence you are not truly independent. In my belief to be truly independent you must be able to do what you want when you want and have nobody to say that you cant do that. If the government is telling you that you can do this and not do that then how can you have independence. The only true way to have independence is to make decisions based on you and not based on what society thinks. How can a person be truly independent if they have to do what other people think is the right thing to do? The answer to that question is that they can not be independent for independence is the ability to do what you want even if it is not what society thinks that it is not the right thing to do. These beliefs is one of my building blocks for my definition of independence.
betsy ystad november 19, 2015 Independent I'd rather be an independent than a democrat or a republican. If I had to be anything a republican or a democratic I would be an independent because they can be whatever they want to be they can be negative or positive or neither just be by yourself. I think it's better to be an independent because you don't have to worry about the government like in my opinion I would care less about the government. I don't know I was raised by my dad and he didn't care about the government he actually hated the government
A person with an independent spirit can take care of him or herself. Being a person with an independent spirit can be good: set your own rules and regulations, do jobs and chores whenever you want to, and do whatever you feel like doing. With an independent spirit, you have a lot of freedom. But with a dependent spirit, a person would have limitations and restrictions. A child would have a dependent spirit, relying on his or her parents to help guild and nurture. But, with a dependent spirit, a person wouldn’t feel the effects of an independent spirit. An independent spirit would have the stress to work for a living, take care of any children, and payoff bills and other deductions.
