Why should we get a dog?
An informational essay on the answer to the question of every kid
By Marlise Malia Deyerl
“Mom, can we get a dog?” The repeated question simply hangs in the back of parents minds. Most just simply look at their kid and say:
“No honey it is a big responsibility. Maybe in a little while.” but this essay is going to show why a little while might not just be so far away because even though dogs do inflict challenges, there are many positive arguments why dogs should be apart of every household.
One reason why dogs are beneficial to people is that they improve people’s mood in a positive way. Science (and people!) have proven that dogs raise our mood! Dogs give people a reason to ‘come home’ after a long day of work, or at least something to look forward after sitting in a classroom all day. Two, after always being judged on how we look, how wealthy we are, it is nice to have someone who does not care about all those things, and will still love you . Dogs always have a way with cheering people up whether it is a nice cuddle session or a fun game of fetch, when you do a favor of cheering up your dog, you may also be cheering yourself up!

You may not realize it, but dogs might actually be your personal trainer! Whether the woof at the door signals your to stop watching your favorite shows on netflix and go on an evening walk, or the tug at your shirt to go and play fetch, dogs might not be reminding you to exercise them, but to also remind you to get up and take a walk! Several studies have examined the effects of dog ownership on people's physical and mental health. Dog ownership produces considerable health benefit and provides social support that encourages dog owners to walk (Cutt et al.2007 ). Pet owners appear to have lower systolic blood pressure and blood cholesterol levels(Anderson et al 1992). Pet owners with serious mental illness living in the community demonstrate higher social community integration(Zimalog and Krupa 2009). Socially excluded participants who performed in the presence of a dog report higher mental well-being compared with socially excluded participants who did not work in the presence of a dog (Nilüfer et al 2012). Although there is evidence suggesting that dog ownership can improve people's physical and mental health, there is little research documenting the psychological and behavioral effects of dog-assisted therapy, especially on elderly patients with dementia, who have dif...

They are very interesting from their head to their feet. Today I will tell you fun facts to old ancient, let’s begin!
Dogs are common throughout the world, either as a domestic pet, a protector on a farm, or an assistant for hunting amongst others. Despite the relative normality of having a dog in your life in one way or another, the reasons for dogs coming into existence are not common knowledge among most people. Throughout a great portion of mankind’s history, dogs have been an essential part of life. The truth is, dogs were actually created in part by man.
Almost all the families that own dogs treat them like a part of the family. In the story How the Dog Became Part of the Family, it stated "According to a 2015 survey by the Harris Poll, ninety six percent of owners consider their dogs to be a part of the family." Since the dogs get special treatment from their owners they will do things for them, like encroachment foxes, clean out rats from somewhere, hunt ducks, and also even pull sleds on snowy days. Dogs can be malign gard dogs for people that treat them like kinfolks. The dogs and humans can have a very special bond. "When a dog and a human gaze in each others eye a chemical is released that causes the dog and human to feel adjacent." Having a dog can be a great experience for people who enjoy their company. These animals are usually friendly and active; they are intelligent and can develop a strong relationship with their owners based on love and care. However, having dogs is a big responsibility for the person who owns them, because they are animals, so they cannot support themselves. Dogs need someone who can feed them, give them love, and someone who can help them exercise. Moreover, these animals need big spaces in order to run and develop their muscles, so the owner has to know that he needs to take a walk with the dog several times a day.
Sociologically, a dogs contribution to a human lifestyle draws attention to the understanding that dogs play a prodigious role, especially in the 21st century where they are best known for being companions. Dogs have the ability to shape a person in a particular way, whether it be positive or negative. Dog parks are the central hub for dogs to have a good time, but not only do they have a good time but the owners get a chance to interact with other dogs and their owner's. This concept seems to be quite popular in which quite a few articles have been published on the subject. Dogs play a crucial role in society which gradually enhances their owners lifestyle in several ways.
Throughout history there has been a common connection between dogs and humans. Whether you use your dog for work, to help make a living, or just for pure enjoyment dogs have been by our side. Dogs are used by police departments to help track down criminals or illegal substances. In cold places such as Alaska dogs are used to pull sleds as a means of transportation. The common theme with all of these is dogs bring people happiness by being playful, comforting, and give their owners a sense of responsibility.
When the dog is walking the owner is walking as well. Every time the dog is being played with the owner is getting some kind of exercise done. Exercising daily is really important especially now a day when the obesity rate is so high in this country. Even when one doesn’t want to take the dog out dogs can be pretty persistent and will have the owner playing with them in no time. Living an active lifestyle also means that one will be healthier as
As the sun came into view, I rushed out of bed and into the living room. My dogs followed me like a pack of wolves. I immediately lead them outside the back door where there is a fenced area, so they could use the restroom. Once they finished their business outside; they ran up the stairs and into the house. Sometimes my dogs are excessively loud with their mouths. Whenever they are out of dog food or need more water they let me know by barking. It is one of their ways of communication. The way they stare into my eyes with joy is another form of communication. Taking care of a dog is not difficult; however, they do take immense responsibility. Now that I know how much responsibility it takes to own a dog, I can use it in the future.
Owning a pet can have many physical and mental health benefits. Medical studies show having a pet result's in lower blood pressure, cholesterol levels, and triglyceride levels. Pets have a role in cardiovascular health from lowering blood pressure, and they encourage psychosocial stability in owners, which further reduces the risk of heart disease. In the hectic and fast-paced world we live in today, pets are actually saving our lives. Pets provide an excuse to be active, dogs live an active lifestyle, wanting to play and run around outside. By making us more active and improving our health, dogs often provide a good workout! Instead of sitting on the couch being lazy, dogs are eager to transfer their energy and enthusiasm to the owner benefiting both dog and owner in many ways. Studies show that dogs demonstrate trust and provide comfort to the sick or elderly thus helping people to live longer and to be more positive as they age. Animal owners over 75 years of age have f...
As a kid, I fell in love with the idea of getting a puppy for Christmas. Wrapped in a small box with a bow on top sitting under the tree just like the movies and tv shows I had seen. I can remember making a Christmas list of all the things I wanted that year, and every year the same thing that I wanted had said “puppy” with it underlined so that my mother knew which was my favorite on the list. Every year no surprise, I didn’t find a dog. I never understood why I never received one. When the kids at school talked about the few dogs they had at home made me so jealous, but I hoped that one day it would be me to have my own best friend at home.
They also take care of us in other ways too. When a dog sees danger they bark to keep us warned. They also love to lick our faces and be with us. This is their sign of love and affection towards us. These; are the things that thanks to dogs, we stay safe and receive love.
There are many reasons to get a pet. You could choose to get a pet for a companion, or simply to add to your family. Many older folk choose to get a pet after they retire or lose their spouse so they do not feel lonely. Many young couples choose to get a pet before they opt to have children, and many families add a pet to their home for their children. The question is though, what type of pet to get? Do you get a cat, or a dog? Having a dog as a pet over a cat is much more enjoyable and beneficial to your life, specifically because of their behavior, convenience, and loyalty.
