There’s no Perks in having Anxiety Disorders
Waking up in the morning and having the feeling of anxiety is normal, since it’s part of being human, but for some people, it develop and turn into a full fledged anxiety disorder. It can even change the person the you were before, confident or outgoing person to constant fear and instability. Anxiety is not just one disorder, it can be several disorders that cause nervousness, fear, apprehension, and worrying. For example, Social Anxiety disorder affects the way you act and talk around people. In the book, The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky, the protagonist, Charlie is no exception. Charlie is a teenager that has been through a lot; some of which is evitable, and some that could have been avoided that has caused damage to his mental well being. Without his friends he would be a trainwreck, full of different emotions, and will try to suppress them with drinking, smoking and other alternatives. Charlie is very dependent and needs support to keep him up and well. When Charlie falls into a hole and loses touch with his friends after the true or dare game during of which he kisses his friend, Sam and not Mary Elizabeth, he is overcome by loneliness, waiting for his friends to call and when that doesn’t help he buys pot from Bob to ease the problems. He firsts to avoid everything because he is fearful of losing the very things he has and what left of his confidence.
