Sergei Rachmaninoff is considered to be the final, magnificent composer of the Romantic era in Russian classical music, ushering forward its traditions into the twentieth century. His four concertos are a reflection of his development as a composer and pianist, with regard to maturity and compositional style. The evolution of music during the late nineteenth century to early twentieth century had no significant effect on Rachmaninoff; rather he continued to produce ingenious works reflective of his Russian upbringing and the Romantic era.

Instruments of the Orchestra Strings: The viola is an important member of the orchestra, but is not often heard by itself. Because it is bigger than the violin, with longer strings, it makes a rich, warm sound that is lower in pitch. In contrast to the viola, the violin is the smallest member of the string family. Because its strings are the shortest, it produces the highest sound. The viola is a little heavier, and its shape is slightly different, too.

Evelyn Glennie is a hard of hearing percussionist, despite of being hard of hearing she surprised the group of individuals with her music aptitudes. She has got some truly wonderful music aptitudes by which she reveals how to tune in. It is really funny to imagine a hard of hearing percussionist revealing about how to listen anyway I feel no one best knows how to listen over Evelyn Glennie. Mainly the West Africans used percussive instruments. These drums came in all sizes ranging from ten to twelve inches to ten to twelve feet. Their drums were made out of hollowed out logs and gourds with a tight skin over the hollow. They also used idiophones to make music. They used a variety of bells, castanets, gongs, and sometimes they made small xylophones or small pianos. Aerophones weren't as prevalent as the percussions or idiophones. Some explorers made small flutes, horns and trumpets from elephant tusks.
The steelpan is a very interesting instrument, for a lot of reasons. I have conducted research on this instrument using two ethnography methods; Participant Observation, and Group Performance, and have explored what makes it so interesting. This ethnography explains my finding, and gives insight to how the steelpan is played, and how it is used in different settings. It will answer my inquiries about the steelpan’s background, their history of how they came to be what they are today, their origin of how and why they were created, and also their uses and meaning in the Trinidadian culture. Lastly it will explain how the steelpans are used in people’s leisure time.
