“People’s behavior is largely determined by forces not of their own making”- Persuasive Essay
World is a haphazard collection of various kinds of individuals. People make use of different languages and practice various customs and rituals. A group of different people assemble to form a society and interact with each other in various ways. “Behavior” is basically how people act in a particular way. People adopt a certain behavior due to number of factors. Some people adapt a certain lifestyle because of what they inherit from their parents. The behavior of a rich child would be different from the behavior of poor child. The behaviors may also be different due to difference in religion. People behave differently also because they are brought up in different environments in their families. Another factor that affects the behavior of an individual is awareness. “Human behavior flows from three main sources: desire, emotion, and knowledge” (Plato 1). An educated person will, for example, be more aware of the manners and etiquettes of living in the society than an uneducated person. However it must be noted that these factors can be controlled to a noticeable extent. Therefore, although aforementioned factors do affect the behavior of the individual; however, these factors can be controlled and their effect can be minimized. Hence, it can be said that a behavior of the individual does not depend on the factors that are beyond their control.
Personal responsibility plays an important role in shaping the behavior of people. Let’s take an example of a person’s behavior who has a family, wife and kids, in this case the external forces are, for instance, to do a good job to meet the needs of his family. But it is entirely his...

Furthermore, free will has been closely connected to the moral responsibility, in that one acts knowing they will be res for their own actions. There should be philosophical conditions regarding responsibility such like the alternatives that one has for action and moral significance of those alternatives. Nevertheless, moral responsibility does not exhaust the implication of free will.
The environment plays a big role in influencing who you are and how you may behave. Which brings us to the movie I Heart Huckabees written by David O. Russell. It talks about existentialism, which is a type of philosophical theory that articulates the existence of an individual as having free will. Free will is the idea that you go about life, choosing your course of action freely instead of living by a code or believing that God has placed you in this universe with a purpose. Free will sort of demonstrate how individuals will react differently from one another in the same situation.
The idea that society, which is created by people, can in turn act upon people is a difficult concept for humans to grasp. Instead, it is easier for humans to realize that actions happen by forces external to themselves and...
Do individuals have free will, or are our actions pre-determined? Humans are mindful human beings. By suggesting individuals can select different ways to respond to any situation, you are suggesting that free will is involved. However, science continues to evolve and discloses new answers on human nature. A major influence in human behavior has to do a lot with an individual’s surroundings. It is believed that a great deal of our own being is the result of an individual’s upbringing, education, culture, or ethnicity. Many of the events individuals are faced with are beyond their control.
There are some human phenomena, which seem to be the result of individual actions and personal decisions. Yet, these phenomena are often - on closer inspection – as much a result of social factors as of psychological ones.
This essay will also approach the weaknesses of these theories. It will look at the nature/nurture debate and how most of the theories fail to take into account social and environmental factors that contribute to an individuals behaviour. It will also look at the idea of 'determinism' (Lombroso, 1876), the idea that people have absolutely no control over there actions so shouldn't be punished, but rather, treated.
Determinism and free will are incompatible. The events in people’s lives are already chosen for us, or determined. The expected behaviors of people are explained by natural laws and by experiences that they were exposed to. But this viewpoint does not explain people’s intuition. Although, there is a chain of physical causes that lead into people’s intuition.

and behavior of the child. In fact, the more we understand about development and behavior, the better. the more obvious it becomes that nature and nurture are similarly influences. rather than determinants, not only singly but also in combination. Here below, I will endeavour to expose the leading theories dealing with the question of nature.
A determinist’s reply would state that humans are ignorant of the forces around them that are actually controlling their behavior in this sense; man becomes a puppet to irresistible forces acting upon him. Neither the free will nor the determinism theories can be proven to be wholly causal of human behavior. Alternate theories are formulated that incorporate main points of free will and determinism that appear...
...ses influences behavior. The evolutionary perspective explains, how evolution explains mental processes. The psychodynamic perspective assumes that human behaviors are driven by unconscious forces. The behavioral perspective is primarily concerned with learned behaviors. The humanistic perspective emphasizes on personality growth. The cognitive perspective examines our internal thought processes. Finally, the sociocultural perspective compares human behaviors to other cultures, and social settings. There are many ways to examine human behaviors, and these perspectives can help to explain these behaviors, and come up with possible solutions.
Parker’s article hits the nail on the head in his effort to describe the impact of situation; which can lead good people to do bad things. The situation can not always be controlled but situations always
Someone can physically look like their parents, siblings or even ancestors from the third generation. When a baby is born, it is common to learn in a natural way. No one teaches a baby how to crawl or how to react when he and she is hungry. However, talents, qualities and personalities are developed through experiences. The environment in which people grew up can have a lasting effect or influence on the way they talk, behave and respond to things around. According to Steven Pinker, Behavioral genetics has shown that temperament emerges early in life and remains fairly constant throughout the life span, that much of the variation among people within a culture comes from differences in genes, and that in some cases particular genes can be tied to aspects of cognition, language, and personality (2). Researchers believe that the origin of behaviors occur in genes in the DNA or even animal instincts which this concept is known as nature of human behavior. Other researchers believe that people are they were they are because they are taught to do so. This concept is well known as nurture in human behavior. In society, there will always be the doubt between Do we born in this way or do we behave according to life experiences? I strongly believe that nurture plays an important role in the upbringing of a child and the decisions that one makes in the future. Firstly, humans learn from their environment and other’s behaviors. Secondly, culture is a huge remark in people’s life. Finally,
PSYC321-Social Psychology taught me about the ways in which people are influenced by others, how people make decisions, inferences we make about others’ attitudes and personalities, and influence of situational and variables on behavior. I learned that people behave the way that they do for so many reasons. Behaviors are caused more by the social situation than they are by the characteristics of the individuals. One of the concepts that I recall is Lewin’s equation which indicates that the behavior of a person at any given time depends on both the characteristics of the person and the influence of the social situation. Some of the things we do can also be attributed to cultural influences and differences that exist between societies. I found
I have asked my grandparent: “why are you take care of me for my parents”? My grandma answers me: “it is my responsibility”. During my childhood, I had been living with my grandparent, and I was really happy. However, the most important thing I learn from my grandparents, which is responsibility. The concept of responsibility is more than just being accountable for your mistakes; it involves being accountable for your actions, both to yourself and to others. When people are not willing take responsibility for person actions, the road to successful will becomes
