What is the best possible way to control mosquito’s in the Pawnee, OK area? There are not many choices because of the small population and the large area of land within the area. One of the best choices the town of Pawnee has available is Malathion. 1 “Malathion is an insecticide in the chemical family known as organophosphates” Malathion is mainly used to control a wide variety of insects from gardens and homes. Not only is Malathion used for a pesticide, it can be found in many special shampoos to treat lice. Since Malathion will be the best for the town of Pawnee, some more in-depth explanation will be explained in the four step process of a conducting a human health risk assessment. 2 The Environmental Protection Agency designed a four …show more content…
step to completing a risk assessment. 3 The first step is called the hazard identification. 4 A common question in health hazard identification is “what health problems are caused by the pollutant?” Some brief exposures to Malathion are nausea, cramps, and shortness of breath, headache, and abdominal pain.
Usually brief exposure occurs when a person does not wash their hands and ingests Malathion by food or drink. 5 The next step of the risk assessment is dose response. 6 Dose response describes “how the likelihood and severity of adverse health effects (the responses) are related to the amount and condition of exposure to an agent (the dose provided)” Studies were done on lab rats and the results showed that only high dosages of Malathion cause liver cancer in the rats. The EPA has determined that there is not enough physical evidence to determine whether or not Malathion is deadly to humans. 5 The third step of the risk assessment is exposure assessment. 7 Exposure assessment is “the process of measuring or estimating the magnitude, frequency, and duration of human exposure to an agent in the environment, or estimating future exposures for an agent that has not yet been released” The expected amount of people to be affected in the town of Pawnee is very small. Since there is a large number of grass fields outside of the town that is where most Malathion use would be. 8 The last step of the assessment is called risk
characterization. 7 Risk characterization “conveys the risk assessor's judgment as to the nature and presence or absence of risks, along with information about how the risk was assessed, where assumptions and uncertainties still exist, and where policy choices will need to be made” I believe that Malathion will be the best to use to control mosquitos in the town of Pawnee. The cost would not be very much and the mosquito’s population would be more controlled for the town.
Imagine waking up to beautiful freshwater streams and wildlife foraging through the mountainside. This is what citizens of Pigeon Forge, Tennessee get to wake up to ever day. Pigeon Forge is a small town near the border of South Carolina. It sits along the edge of the Cherokee National Forest and on the west side of Little Pigeon River. It is not only located in a beautiful area, but also a thriving area economically speaking. Overall, Pigeon Forge is a family friendly place where people can not only live in a beautiful city, but also exciting environment.

Throughout the risk assessment process, ideas for action were identified and documented. The documentation of these ideas led to the development of potential action item worksheets which were then selected, prioritized, and refined. Detailed risk assessment information for each hazard is included and located through this document.
There has been steady growth in the food industry in Newburgh due to population growth in the region. The increase in population has led to increasing demand of food items in Newburgh. The population of Newburgh has increased from 28,260 in the year 2000 to 28,866 in the year 2010 (Haugen, 2012). This means that there is a ready market for different food products available in Newburgh and its environs. In the last five years, businesses in hotel industry across New York, where Newburgh is located, have been thriving due to the increasing number of visitors visiting the region. In the year 2014, the city hosted 55.8 million visitors with some residing in or near Newburgh.

level for mice, dogs, rabbits, cats and chimpanzees, but not for young or old men and women. Some animals die in the test as a result of the volume of material, not the toxicity of the material. Most important, is the number of animals that suffer unnecessarily: why pour drain cleaner down the throats of animals, when humans would never do such a thing?
Almost no data is available about the effects of organic arsenic compounds on human beings. Researches in animals show that most simple organic arsenic compounds (such as methyl and dimethyl compounds) are less lethal than the inorganic forms. In animals, intake of methyl compounds can result in diarrhea, and lifetime disclosure can damage the kidneys. Lifetime contact to dimethyl compounds can harm the urinary bladder and the kidneys.

From the Prairies, was a Native American group called the Pawnees, who were known for being bison hunters and farmers. The Pawnees were located in northern Kansas and south central Nebraska. The Pawnees would call themselves Chaticks-Si-Chaticks, this means “People of People,” or “Men of Men.” Pawnee is an unclear name that many people didn’t know what it meant. It seems to be a number of groups on central Plains. The Pawnees went through major struggle as they had to fight to live against disease, warfare, and the loss of their resources. Caddoan language, is the language that the Pawnees spoke. It was a large group that extended from the north to the south. Wichita and Caddo are also part of the Caddoan group. They spoke two major dialects
