Recommended: Impacts of war on family

The Patriot takes place in South Carolina in 1776 during the Revolutionary War. In this film a veteran man and his family are brought in the middle of the war and go through many horrific events. The film portrays various battle scenes and how the war affected the Martin family. The film shows realistic and unrealistic events that happened during the Revolutionary War.
Benjamin Martin, a widow and veteran of the French-Indian War is haunted by his past actions as a soldier and refuses to be a part of the war in order to protect his seven children.
