As a psychologist, I was asked to evaluate the state of a mental we—being of a man, who was charged with murder. However, he was evaluated as a person, who suffers psychological and even psychiatric problems. That is why he was released from the trial case. He was sent to the forensic hospital where he was supposed to get the necessary treatment and medications, which would help him to get rid of his mental problems and issues. Recently, the patient wrote a petition and asked for the discharge from the forensic hospital, as well as according to him his psychological well-being improved and he wanted to come back home to his family and friends. According to APA, case studies are one of the most essential tools, which help a therapist to evaluate the patient and his/her psychological state of health. That is why the investigation of the previous case studies would be the initial stage in the process of the patient’s assessment. The medical history of the patient would help to find out the previous diagnosis and the medications, which were used in order to help the patient to treat his mental issues. With the help of the analysis of the medications, which were prescribed, I would be able to determine their effectiveness and assess the future medications, if those would be needed. Contacting the family of the patient is another important step of the assessment process. The members of the family and the friends would be able to tell me about the previous behavior of the patient, his life story, and experience, the situations and events which would cause the development of the psychological problems within the patient. The second stage of the process of the patient’s evaluation would be connected with the interviewing of the staff of the forensic hospital. The analysis of the staff comments and the description of the situations, which took place, would help me to get a better understanding of the patient’s current state.
