In the poem, Immigrant by Pat Mora, Mora writes about how two parents are trying to teach their children how to speak English. Mora uses a tone of pride in order to reveal the message that good parents are willing to do anything for their children’s good. Mora’s tone of pride is seen in the early parts of the text when the author mentions that the parents are feeding their babies and wrapping them in the American flag. Continuing her point, Mora states “before the baby can even walk, speak to them in...English” (6-7).
