Today, a license is needed to do many things. Licenses are required to drive, buy a gun, hunt, and fish. To run a lemon stand legally a permit is required, even if it is from your own house. If the government can regulate the sale of lemonade in your own front yard then a license should probably be required to pretty much set up a child’s whole life. To be a legal guardian of a child, a parent should first have to obtain a parenting license. The license could be obtained by simply taking a class that proves a parent can fulfill the minimal needs of a child. It isn’t cheap to raise a child, costing hundreds of thousands of dollars over the course of eighteen years. From buying housing and transportation, food, clothing, health care, and a list of many more things, raising a child is a very expensive thing to do. If the parent can’t take care of his or herself financially then they can’t be expected to fulfill the financial needs of the child. Some people who may not be able to afford to raise a child should receive help from the government to be able to, but a bigger part than having the money is organizing it and utilizing it on the right things to help the child. Parents also need to be able to spend time with their child, which is a very important part in creating a bond with the child. Children often seek out for affection and a big part of being a parent is being affectionate. A parent must always show their child unconditional love and always make a child feel safe. The child shouldn’t only feel safe or secure in a physical way but should be mentally stable and have a good self-esteem. A self-esteem is helped built by a parent by encouraging positive from the child, the positive behavior being rewarded and also letting the child learn from his or her own
