Pandora's Box Research Paper

My favorite myth is Pandora’s Box. Pandora’s Box is a Greek myth. It is a brother that is gifted a woman and releases bad thing upon the Earth. The myth starts off with two brothers who are always nice and kind and their names were Prometheus and Epimetheus and they were Titans which were the children of Uranus and Gaea. They both severed loyal to Zeus and he gifted them with creating the first creatures to live on Earth. Epimetheus was in charge of making the animals and Prometheus was in charge of making man. Epimetheus used all the forms of protection for the animals and Prometheus couldn’t use any for all the men he made.

Prometheus asked Zeus if he can give fire to the humans, but Zeus refused because the fire was for gods. Prometheus ignored Zeus and gave fire to the humans anyway. Zeus got mad and punishes him by tying him to a rock far away and Zeus sent an eagle to eat Prometheus’s liver daily. One Day, Prometheus is saved by Hercules and Hercules kills the eagle and lets Prometheus go. Zeus also punished the humans because they accepted the fire from Prometheus. He made a woman and named her Pandora. She was made from clay and she was also made to be just like the goddess Aphrodite.

Prometheus warned Epimetheus no to trust Zeus, but Epimetheus still wanted to marry Pandora. They soon got married and was given a box from Zeus and he told them to never open it. Pandora was created to be curious and she opened the box and released every bad thing in the world like, greed, envy, hatred, pain, disease, hunger, poverty, war, and death. All of life’s misery was let out across the whole Earth. Pandora closed the box, but it was too late and the box was empty except one thing and it was called Hope.
