In 1940 Nelson Paint Company made many spray paint devices originally for cattle farmers and for National Forest Park Rangers to mark trees from a long distance. The paintballs were fired from pellet guns and when it became more popular the Nelson Company split into two companies and one focused on upgrading paintballs and the other foucsed on upgrading the guns.
Three friends, Bob Gurnsey, Bob Jones and Charles Gaines came up with the idea of hunting and surviving as human prey. Bob Gurnsey founded the new sport called National Survival Game. Competitive Manufactures started to make different guns and paintballing became a new fun sport all around the country. The first paintball game was officially held on June 2, 1981.

The “Moffatt Stick,” maybe the world’s oldest known hockey stick, was in the news a couple of years ago when its owner, Mark Presley of Berwick, NS, sold it to the Canadian Museum of History in Gatineau, Quebec for $300,000.
It should be noted that there are many different ways that are employed to get a marker to shoot a paintball out of the marker. Nearly every brand of marker has a different firing system. All have several things in common. They all have some sort of tank with compressed air or C02 or Nitrogen. Then they usually have sort of bolt and hammer system which is cocked back and held in place by a sear which compresses a spring. When the trigger is pulled it releases the sear. The restoring force of the spring pushes the bolt and the hammer forward starting the paintball moving then the C02 is released propelling the ball outward.
Nerf Started in 1969 by the creator of Reyn Guyer. Reyn created the Nerf brand in Minnesota. He started this brand for safety. At first he started the brand for volleyball. Later in the 1990’s the nerf brand started the nerf gun and had a special catchphrase “It’s Nerf Or Nothing”. The creator made the nerf gun because dart guns were really popular. Nerf guns were really popular because they were neon colors and sometimes had soft texture.
SlamBall was invented from the idea of a combination of sports that approximated a real-life video game. The man behind the idea was Mason Gordon. Mason Gordon reached out to a film producer named of Mike Tollin. Tollin created the films Coach Carter, T.V. show Smallville, and Wild Hogs. About six months later after their first meeting, the first court was created in a warehouse in East Los Angeles. This sport was created by a mash-up of football, basketball, hockey, and gymnastics. From there, Gordon took this sport to the streets to find athletes that would make this game better. Gordon’s plan on finding players to compete was successful when he got five recruits - James Willis, Sean Jackson, David Redmond, Michael Goldman and Jeff Sheridan. These players would go and train with Gordon to produce the first games. These five players including Gordon would become the first players in this sport. When the first people of America started playing lacrosse centuries ago, the game served many purposes. It was played to amuse the Creator, to train young men for war, and to settle disputes between tribes (Source B). The game was played by tribes in all parts of the United States and Canada; it was played by the Mexican Kickapoo in Texas, the Seminole in Florida, the Bungi in Manitoba, the Cherokee in Tennessee, and the Passamaquoddy in Maine (Source B). The game was called Baggattaway, meaning they bump hips by the Algonquin tribe, and Tewaarathon, meaning little brother of war, by the Iroquois tribe (Source B).
The sport of Pickleball was founded in 1965 in Bainbridge Island, a ferry ride from. When Congressman Joel Pritchard, William Bell, and Barney McCallum arrived home after a day of golf, they found their children restless, and tired of the “old” summer activities. They set out to create a game that would entertain them throughout the summer. Their ideas to create the game came from the hopes of creating a game that would be both challenging, but easy to set up and play. When the game first began, materials included ping-pong paddles, and a wiffle ball. Then, they lowered the net on their badminton court. As the game became more popular, people began to make their own paddles using wood jigsaws, and marine plywood. Today, over 100,000 people play Pickleball in the United States. According to Barney McCallum, the game was named, “Pickleball” after the Pichards’s dog Pickles who would often case and run after the ball when played.

Lacrosse has progressed over the years from when it started as a religious practice by the Native Americans to the Canadians to the east coast to all around the world. The equipment, shoes, rules, and fields have changed in many different ways. The different ways that people can set up their defense and their offense is so broad that it is hard to describe. The original team set up was when the Indians played over expanses of 500 yard up to a mile. Then William George Beers created a club called the Montreal Lacrosse Club in eighteen fifty-six. Then about a decade later William George Beers produced a whole set of rules that included reducing the number of players to ten adding hitting penalties while also introducing a rubber ball and a new innovative plastic design for the lacrosse stick.
Games similar to soccer were played in China as early as 400 B.C. In 200 A.D. the Romans played a game in which 2 teams tried to score by advancing the ball across a line on a field, which means no soccer goals. They passed the ball to one another, but not by kicking it. Also in the 1100's, London children played a form of soccer (World Book Encyclopedia, S p.73).
NASCAR was formed by William France, Sr., who was an auto mechanic from Washington D.C. The current CEO is Brian France who is the grandson of Bill France. NASCAR headquarters is in Daytona Beach, Florida and it has several offices throughout the United States and some in Mexico and Canada. Before Bill France started NASCAR, racing was a very dishonest business where the promoters often stole money from the drivers. France believed that if racing became an organization with rules it would become an honest type of business. In December 1947, France asked many drivers and promoters to meet in Daytona Beach, Florida to create racing rules. NASCAR was created on February 21, 1948 and starting out racing on a track that was half sand and half asphalt. The track was called Daytona Beach and was located in Florida. (Jordan) I feel that NASCAR is a great sport for the fans and anyone else who likes racing in general. NASCAR has an interesting history and is still fun to learn about today.
Do you ever hear the word “karting”? Many people still don’t know what karting is. They try to relate it to the cart; the basket to take your things from the market with the wheels on it. In this situation, kart means the miniature of car racing, especially Formula One (F-1) cars. And karting means racing of using a kart. Maybe if I say “go kart”, you will know what I am talking about. Actually “go kart” is a trademark of karting. It is the manufacturing company that originated karting in 1958. The history and accessories of karting are important in order to get started in karting.
Paintball started in 1981 and has grown a lot since then. Paintball was created by Charles Gaine, Hayes Noel, and Robert Gurnsey in 1981. Paintball guns were not originally used or made for paintball they were originally created for, they were made and used to mark stray cattle and to mark trees to be cut down. The group of friends played privately and slowly formed a corporation called the National Survival Games Inc.
People had been tossing Frisbees around for years, but had yet to create a sport using the Frisbee disk. At Columbia High School in New Jersey, students from the school newspaper created a new sport, combining different aspects of soccer, football, basketball, team handball, and hockey, they called it Ultimate Frisbee. These students decided to write an official set of rules for Ultimate Frisbee. At first, it was only played by a few students at Columbia. The sport soon caught on at other colleges and high schools in the area. From then on, Ultimate spread rapidly throughout the United States, and was at first played only in schools. Since then many non-scholastic leagues have formed and many countries have started national teams. Not much has changed since the rules were first published, and since then, Ultimate has spread all over the world.

James Naismith, born 11/6/1861, in Almonte, Ontario, Canada invented the greatest game of all time. Basketball was invented December 1891 at a YMCA gymnasium in Springfield, Massachusetts. The game was invented to be an indoor game for students to play during the cold winter months since there were no previous indoor game that could involve a whole class. Basketball started out with only 13 rules that were made by Naismith in 1891 and the rules have continued to grow and change up to present day.
