Pharmacy is going to consume my life pretty soon, so I needed to figure out what my end goal was. The Pathways exercises allowed me to realize just what I want from my future career. It made me contemplate what is important to me and what I enjoy doing. I was able to do some research on potential careers, and it was a good start to figuring out my life. When I was completing the Pathways exercises, I focused on my personal beliefs and interests. Family is my number one priority, and it comes before career in my eyes. Patient contact, my ability to help people, and the continuity of relationships were three other aspects that I ranked high in the evaluation. On the other hand, I ranked supervision of a business and entrepreneurial opportunities …show more content…
Outpatient hospital pharmacy requires strong communication skills, especially with co-workers. I will also need to continue my education and training throughout my career to stay up to date on the latest medication available for my patients. One pharmacist reported in the APhA Career Survey that pharmacists in this field should be willing to work in different environments. I think I would be a good fit for the major responsibilities of outpatient health system pharmacy. I like to talk to people, and I believe I am good with forming relationships with others. Communication should not be a problem, and lifelong learning should not either. I am looking forward to keeping up with the advances in the medical field. I am not entirely sure what “different environments” means, but I am willing to try anything.
I really like the fact that I will be able to have direct patient contact and a large amount of continuity in my relationships with this profession. Teamwork also plays a big role in this field, and that is one of my strengths. I will get to collaborate with other professionals, but I like that I will not actually be educating them most of the time. This profession would also allow me to have a predictable work schedule and parental leave opportunities which will allow me to spend time with my family. I am also fond of the high level of job security, and the

I do plan on following through with the pharmacy track. It still peaks my interest, and I am excited to learn all I can about it. At this time, I believe a community pharmacy or an outpatient health system pharmacy would be the best choice for me. I would get to interact with patients every day and form relationships. I would also have a regular schedule. I know my hometown pharmacists fairly well, and I have shadowed there once. I plan to try to shadow in different environments if I can, as well. I also still have a dream of working in pediatrics, so I hope I can still pursue that career as a
Since I have been worked in Veteran Affairs Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland, I was not surprised with the work load and the hospital setting at Millcreek Community Hospital (MCH). With a goal of enrichment my knowledge in a hospital pharmacy setting, I am enthusiastic in accomplishing the assigned duties. I have very high expectation during these four weeks of IPPE rotation; I expect to learn beyond what I already know in the past and apply what I learn during the past year in to pharmacy practice. Arriving at Millcreek Community Hospital, I was not surprised the pharmacy's setting in hospital but I'm surprised the different types of work I received. At Veteran Affairs Medical Center, all I ever did are filling the prescriptions, stocking, and managed automated machines but at MCH,
Higher paid than most jobs annually. The more the experience the more the pay you will receive. This is profession that is going to be increasing in open positions because of the baby booming population. But there are also disadvantages too. This career can become emotionally stressful/draining. You have to deal with many patients from day to day. Some patients are easier to handle than others. You may have to deal with a lot of blood because of open wounds. A lot of physical stress involved too. Most of the time is spent standing, also some nights may have to work overnight shifts or be on
Working in the pharmaceutical industry, there are different types of environments you could possibly work in. There are chain pharmacies, like any kind of grocery store or CVS. There are franchise pharmacies, which are also known as apothecaries. Also, there are community pharmacies, which are also known as retail pharmacies. Some of them are independent pharmacies, which is usually owned by a pharmacist or a group of pharmacists.. There are hospital pharmacies, in which are in the hospital. There are many more different types, these are only a few.
Throughout this researched that I investigated I became interested in this field in a way. If I had an option in medical field I would take the option. Knowing that you are helping patients out is an amazing feeling. I would work with infants rather than adults. I would cherish every moment because you would never know if that’s the last time to work with the patient not just because of death but maybe cause they might recover from there sickness.
While doing my observations, at the outpatient and inpatient settings, I confirmed this is a career suited for my personality and abilities, where you get to teach patients how to recover and start from the beginning, and
I pleased to apply to the PharmD program as the program is one area that corresponds to my career dreams. Being part of this program gives one the opportunity to gain an excellent experience in working and collaborating with various health care providers in the ward. But more importantly, it facilitates a practical environment in dealing more closely with patients. Hence, it helps to provide the ultimate health care services to patients. Also, it permits me to carry on gaining different knowledge, skills, and values in addition to those I have already developed during my undergraduate studies. My interest in being a clinical pharmacist was first aroused during my SPEP rotation in the hospital setting where I was really impressed with the role of clinical pharmacists who provide a consistent process of patient care with healthcare teams to maintain the appropriateness, effectiveness and safety of the medication use. Unlike a pharmacist, a clinical pharmacist has a more diversified responsibilities and closeness to direct patient care. Moreover, provides
I believe pursuing the Doctor of Pharmacy degree immensely relates to both my immediate and long term goals. Something I like to live by is to always challenge yourself because if you keep doing what is easy, you will never advance or become better. It has already been a challenging path and I know it will get harder, but challenging myself in school is my immediate goal, and I know it will be worth it down the road. It also helps to keep things interesting. I know I would make a fantastic pharmacist, and so I make it a goal to challenge myself every day in everything I do including my education.
As time progressed and my experiences grew, they became more redundant and rudimentary. I began to feel that becoming a pharmacist may not meet my expectations in terms of the level of patient interaction and the role I would play as a health care provider. It was at this point that I made the decision to branch off and research other health care professions that could play well to my interests and allow for the level of patient care I was looking for.
Since my early schooling days, science and mathematics have always fascinated me given that all components of the world are explained on the basis of these disciplines. In this regard, Pharmacy which is based on Chemistry and Mathematics has interested me a great deal as it has direct impacts on our daily lives. The more I have become familiar with the chemistry and mathematics knowledge involved in pharmacy, the more I have appreciated its significance in improving the lives of people in the community. Out of the many careers that one would opt to pursue, Pharmacy has stood out as the career that will enable me serve the society more directly and have a real impact in the quality of peoples’ lives by touching their health. In addition, I love a career that is challenging and one that I will be involved in even in old age. In this case, Pharmacy offers me this opportunity. My interest in Pharmacy has also developed from my personal health experiences and becoming aware of its expansiveness. Every time I have had to take medicine to cure an illness, I have become more interested to know how drugs are made and how the drug components work in the human body to alleviate pain and restore health. I desire to pursue a career in Pharmacy so as to gain practical experience in these aspects of research.
It is one I know I will love and will be much more than just a job. It gives ordinary people the opportunity to be a proponent for every patient especially those who may fall through the cracks of the health care system. With that being said, I established important goals to remain on this path for success. By the end of my career I hope to be ultimately satisfied with my choices and following the realistic and clear career goals I have put out with myself, I hope to acquire the characteristics needed to become a successful perioperative nurse and become not only a healthcare provider, but an advocate for my patients and to have the education needed to give them the care and dedication each patient
The flexibility of Physician’s Assistants is very appealing. The ability to be able to change practices if situations arose in which I needed different hours, needed to move, or simply wanted a change from the patients and conditions being seen is another factor in the decision to apply to PA school. Growing up, my step father worked in construction, and would be gone for several periods at a time. I watched as my mother was lonely during that time because she did not have a job in which she could move with my step father. Sometimes that period was years at time with visits only on the weekends or every three weeks. My mother worked in a job in which she had to remain where she was because there were not many openings for her profession around the country. Should I ever find myself in that position where my spouse, or other important members of my family had to move, the ability to be able to move with them and still find a job to bring in income is very important. Medical mission trips have always been of interest, and as a provider with the help of a team, accomplishing at least one trip to a place that is in desperate need of healthcare is a huge goal I hope to accomplish. Being able to provide care for those who cannot afford it is something I hope to do more than once in my
Another benefit of using this action plan is that it helps to create milestones and timelines, which are essential for skill development and achieving success. Additionally, it can help identify other options as I progress on this career journey.

middle of paper ... ... nd consultation on line 4. Although I would be very good at it since my boss and several others told me to go for it just the doubt in my mind that says no, but still have some time before making this final decision after completing my main courses before going into a field of study.
