Outlawing abortions has many consequences ;women lose their financial independence ,safe medical facilities, and their personal choice to choose what best for them in their private lives . A lot of anti-abortionist fail to realize that abortion isn't an easy choice for a woman, but is labeling her as a murder really necessary? During the first few stages of pregnancy a baby is considered an “Embryo” ,which is basically a potential human being ;undifferentiated cells that exist as a part of a woman's body. Therefore , if the pregnancy is terminated in the early stages ,this concludes that this is not murder , it's a woman choosing what's best for her and her future. Women should be allowed to control what happens in their personal lives .“The …show more content…
emphasis must not be on the right to abortion but on the right to privacy and reproductive control”(Ruth Bader Ginsburg). Not many people think about the woman and her current situation ,they just assume she's getting an abortion because she doesn't want to take responsibility for her actions. “Women don't get abortions just for fun”(Planned parenthood) ,women get them because there is a reason as to why she doesn't want a baby. One main reason as to why a woman wouldn't want a baby is her age or it was a simple mistake . For example , teen pregnancy . Most young age teens usually become curious about sex , mainly because they hear friends talking about it or see it on TV. As a teen myself , I hear about sexual experiences from my peers and of course it crosses my mind and makes me curious . Sadly not all curious teens learn the proper use of contraceptives ( Condoms, Plan B pill , etc.) and end up pregnant at a young age .
Not many teens have the chance to think of abortion , and by time they've come to a decision ,it's already too late . Studies from NCSL (National Conference of State Legislatures) have shown that most teen mothers end up in poverty or never finish high school and sometimes both. If a teen has an abortion in her early stages of pregnancy this can encourage her to focus on her education and later her finances . Abortion can be a lesson learned for teenagers and teach them the consequences of not having safe sex. Also one big reason why abortion should not be outlawed it the mental stress it has on the woman. When a woman finds out she's pregnant it cause a lot of mental stress. First thing that comes to mind is “ Am I ready to be a mother ?” or “ Can I even afford having a baby at this time ? What will my parents or friends and family think ?”. There is a lot of mental stress on a woman when it comes to pregnancy. A lot of times the mental stress put on a woman can cause her to go into depression or make her become suicidal if forced to have a baby. Before judging a woman by her choice of abortion always try and put yourself in her shoes and think of her current situation rather than making her feel …show more content…
worse. Another reason as to why abortion should not be outlawed is because women lose the right to a safe medical facility to terminate her pregnancy . Before when abortion was illegal and taboo ,women went to doctors or back alleys to terminate their pregnancy. They used extremely dangerous and painful methods such as “ The Hanger” method . Women would take a metal clothing hanger and would bend it so it was straight , leaving the hook still bent and would insert it through the vaginal canal in hopes of using the hook to remove the baby. This would cause a lot of damage to the canal and her cervix and sometimes would end in fatal infections from the bacteria of the hanger . Another method that was used to abort a baby was just by falling down the stairs. Women would get severely injured from this method and this was actually one of the most effective ways to abort a baby. When a pregnant woman is harmed the weakest point is her stomach. Any blow to a woman's stomach during a fall or possibly a physical altercation can cause her to miscarry. By outlawing abortions women who are carrying an unwanted child will be forced back in the allies or back to underground doctors. Another medical reason as to why abortion should not be outlawed are very serious to fatal birth defects that could be dangerous for the baby and or the mother . Women finding out that their baby will be born with a serious birth defect can be a devastating experience. Some mothers may feel that they're incapable of caring for a child with serious and or fatal defects and may feel that they should terminate their pregnancy. One more medical problem that would be necessary for abortion is if the baby stops developing and the body of the mother doesn't miscarry. Complications like these are quite common in a womans first pregnancy. Abortion isn't always a bad thing and shouldn't always be frowned upon. Abortion can actually help women and the idea of abortion should be up to and individual. Women should feel free to do what they please with their body because “no woman can call herself free who does not control her own body” (Margaret Sanger). Abortion can give women the chance to back out of something she isn't ready for; if a man can do it, why can't she ? We live in a culture that claims that they value a woman's choice .”If we lived in a culture that valued women's autonomy and in which men and women practiced cooperative birth control, the abortion issue would be moot”(Christine Northrup). Yet another reason why abortion should not be outlawed is because women lose financial independence .
Not very many women are financially stable from unemployment or if they're too young and their parents may not make much to help support a baby . For example, a woman in california, whom we will call “A” , found out she was pregnant and wanted an abortion. She was a strong believer in birth control — in high school she was selected to help teach sex education. But having been celibate for months and strapped for cash, she stopped taking the pill. Then an ex-boyfriend came around. For months after, she had only a little spotting, but because her periods are typically light, she didn’t think much of it at first. Then she started to worry if she was pregnant. Around thanksgiving of 2011, “A” took her first pregnancy test at home and found out that she was pregnant. She knew her Ex wouldn't help support the baby because he had just started a new relationship. Most anti-abortionist would say this is a gift from God but for “A”, this was no gift from God. At the time “A” was working five part time jobs just to support herself, so in this situation , how could “A” even support a baby if she can barely support herself? “A” decided to follow through with her choice of abortion and went to the Planned Parenthood of California . Once at the clinic she was asked how far along she was and she estimated around 3 months. She was later asked before the examination why she wanted a abortion
and she said that she simply was just not ready for a baby . After the examination she found out that she was a littler further than 3 months , she was estimated at 20 weeks which was too far for the clinic to give her an abortion. The clinic gave her abortion papers and adoption papers; she later found a clinic in Oakland and took the first appointment available. Before going to her appointment in Oakland , her sister suggested her a Fist Resort abortion counseling to try and convince her not to get one . The First Resort offered her a free ultrasound and soon found out she was actually 21 weeks and at this time “A” was running out of time, days, and money. Sadly she couldn't get her abortion and was forced to have a baby. By outlawing abortions , women with “A’s” situation lose their financial independence and cannot properly provide for the baby. Money is one of the main factors as to why a woman can't have a baby. Preparing for a baby is very expensive. Studies from USDA (U.S Department of Agriculture) have shown that preparing for a baby cost about $245,340 USD , plus the $2,000 dollar hospital bill; sometimes it may cost more depending on how you birth to the baby or if there is complications, sometimes both. A lot of anti-abortionist fail to realize that women also have bills to along with loans to pay, if money is a problem then women should not be forced to care for someone she simply cannot afford. By outlawing abortion women are forced to pay for an unwanted baby and will have more bills to pay along with more loans , causing them to possibly go into debt. In conclusion, abortion should not be outlawed because women lose their financial independance , safe medical facilities , and the right to choose what's best for them in their personal lives. It's clear that although some things are important in order to save a life, I truly believe that a woman should have the right to end the life of her unborn child if it's any inconvenience. Rather than people being more worried about the unborn child people should think of the mother. If abortion is outlawed more women will die from the dangerous methods used before ; more women will go into debt and teen pregnancy rates will rise higher than they've ever been before. Thanks to abortion more women can focus on themselves and their finances and teen pregnancy rates have dropped dramatically since the 90’s. Before you decide to vote on outlawing abortion, stop and take the time to think of the consequences. Think about the women sent back to the allies or the women hurting themselves because they can’t afford a baby or the bills that come with birthing one. Take the time to think about all the young teen girls who have their pregnancy forced onto them or all the unemployed women who can't provide for a baby. Rather than calling her a murder or calling her irresponsible, think about what her mental state is and the more mental damage you're doing to her by calling her these things. Stop being persuaded by the religious beliefs and open your mind to what's really happening around you. If you vote to outlaw abortion then apart of a woman's independence will be taken from her and what had fought for will be for nothing.
In America abortion is one of the most heavily debated topics in recent years. Pro-life or pro-choice? Many people believe it is immoral and even consider abortion to be murder. The definition of abortion states “The termination of pregnancy by the removal or expulsion from the uterus of a fetus or embryo prior to being capable of normal growth” Did you know that 1 in 3 women in the U.S. will have an abortion in their lifetime? (Baker, Aspen. "A Better Way to Talk about Abortion." Aspen Baker:. N.p., n.d. Web. 25 Aug. 2016.) When first researching this topic I wondered, “What’s the big deal? Why would it matter if someone who was never even born, died?” And I realized that babies that would have been born due to abortion,
(Pollack, 2012) Her emotional health is being diminished as she is forced to give birth to her deformed dead baby. This is why these strict anti-abortion laws need to be regulated throughout, not just the United States, but also the world, for cases such as these. I agree both, pro-choice and pro-life supporters, have excellent points to argue. Pro-life may argue some women take advantage of abortion, but instead of totally abolishing abortion it should be regulated. Women should not be allowed to have an abortion in the second half of their pregnancy unless it is detrimental to their life or the child’s. I think that this is the best and effective way to deal with the
First, most adolescents are not mature enough to make decisions that will change their lives forever. According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius state, “Some older adolescents have the cognitive ability and capacity to reason similarly to an adult. However, neuroimaging studies have shown that the brain undergoes major reorganization during adolescence, particularly in the regions of the brain relating to executive functions” (qtd. in Christian Med.). In other words, the majority of teens lack maturity and wisdom to make life changing decisions (Christian Med.). In most situations, teens are desperate, and they make choices without thinking about the long- term consequences of their actions. If abortion is hard, enough in a grown woman imaging how it must be in a teenager with no one by her side to counsel and guide her. Imaging how confusing would be the mind of a fourteen years old girl going through an abortion without having her parents to tell her that everything will be fine. How can a fourteen years old girl handle that much stress?
The words of an unborn baby are ones that almost no one ever thinks of, or hears. One of this country's most controversial topics is abortion. However, if one sees the constitutional infringement to women by the restriction of abortion; the torment to the unwanted child; and the anguish society has to sustain, then this topic would not be so debatable. Too many people do not see the effect that abortions cause. It is a very dangerous offence that affects the mother, father, the community, and most importantly, the fetus, and that is why abortion should be illegal in Canada. First, abortion is against God’s law in many Holy books such as the Bible and the Quran. Secondly, abortion does not only affect the individual, but the community as a whole, and the rights of those people are infringed on. However, abortion does nothing in the cases of rape, or women’s rights, which is the constant argument people in favour of abortion argue. And lastly, abortion should be seen for what it is, murder.
Being a mother is a lifelong job that requires copious time, energy, and money. There are myriad different reasons in which a woman would consider getting an abortion. The decision is often tragic and painful for the mother. It is one of the biggest choices a woman will make. Many people have strong beliefs about abortion, and if a mother makes a decision that they do not agree with they sometimes turn against the mother, and enkindle egregious feelings about their decision for the rest of their life. Indeed a woman may not get an abortion for selfish reasons or out of convenience, but out of a desire to protect certain important values such as her own health or a decent standard of living for the other members of the family. Additional intentions for having abortion include rape, financial difficulties, obligation by family members, or danger to the baby’s health (Roleff
Many people have their own opinions on abortion, that a fetus is a human being with a right to live so abortion is similar to murder. While other groups argue that a woman has certain rights, especially the choice whether to bring another life into the world. The groups that are for it think that abortion gives women the control over their own bodies, which it is their choice when and whether to have children or giving an option to choose to bring or not to bring a child with abnormalities to the world. Some children are born with severe disorders and some parents, being unable to care for their disabled child seek abortion as their one and only option because taking care of a child, especially born with abnormalities is tough work to do as a parent, so they decide whether bring a life into the world. They look ahead on what is best for them, and it is selfish. Or even having in mind that some do not want to become a single parent taking up two roles; a mother and father and they feel like every child should come into the world feeling wanted, loved and cared for. Another reason some women have an abortion is because they do not want to stop work or schooling, and these reasons are consistent across many countries, including America. Other reasons are because of societal pressures, women get little to no social support. But
Abortion has been one of the biggest controversies of all time. According to the Oxford dictionary, the term abortion can be defined as, the deliberate termination of human pregnancy, most often performed during the first 28 weeks of pregnancy. There are two different types of abortion; a spontaneous abortion, which is also known as a miscarriage, and an induced abortion, where the embryo or fetus is purposely removed from the women’s body. The topic of induced abortion has been widely debated for hundreds of years. The issue of abortion was argued way back in the time of the ancient Hebrews. Today many people consider abortion to be murder, but shouldn’t the soon-to-be mother 's right to make such a personal and heartbreaking choice be
The main problem in the world is inevitable abortion. Because it is about morality; which people tend pay more attention. Nowadays, Abortion is a controversial problem as people think of appropriateness. However, Abortion is necessary in many cases. Three main reasons why abortion should be banned are condition that women are not pregnancy, health problem in mother, and social problem.
Abortion is one of America’s most controversial subjects. The participants in this debate have fixed beliefs on the matter at hand. On one side of the debate are people who believe in pro- choice. They argue that choice of a woman is more important than an unborn fetus. They point out that an unborn child is not on the same level of importance as the mother. Also, the pro-life group declares that choice is the sole purpose behind their argument. They believe that if a woman cannot chose to abolish a pregnancy, then she looses one of her basic human rights. The other side of the debate is the pro-life group. Their main concern is that the fetus is a person; therefore, having the same human rights as the mother. As a result, when states pass laws that enable abortions, these states are legalizing murder. When considering an individual’s ethics and values, killing is morally wrong. Therefore, the termination of unborn children is wrong, as well. Abortion, the unethical expulsion of an embryo or fetus, in order to purposely end a pregnancy, should be forbidden because human life begins at conception, economics is not a justification for abortion, and an unwanted child does not justify abortion.
Most people agree that abortion should be a rare procedure. To accomplish that ideal, our society must proactively, by providing resources and support, offer pregnant women the hope that carrying their babies to term is not the end of their plans and dreams. Then their difficult decisions would really be true choices vice acts of desperation. After all, it is just as much “pro-choice” for a woman to take charge of her life and courageously carr...
There are thousands of women in the world make the mistake of getting pregnant. Yes, there are forms of contraception but they are not 100% effective in preventing pregnancy. Approximately 1.4 million abortion procedures are done each year in the United States, with 30% of those women being younger than forty-five years old (ProCon). Without abortion, there would be an abundance of children who are brought into the world unwanted and not being able to have the essentials they need to go through life successfully. The most difficult responsibility a woman would have to go through is finances. 85% of women who wish to have an abortion are unmarried and have to support the child alone (“Abortion Procedures”). Abortion can save a woman from going through financial distress when she is aware that she is not financially stable. Teen pregnancy is common in the world and they are not at a point in life where taking care of someone else, other than themselves, is possible to do alone. Thirty-nine states allow minors to go through the abortion procedure with parent consent (“Abortion Procedures”). All fifty states should allow this because if teens could not receive that choice, then they would have to carry an unwanted baby that they could not take care of after giving birth. Most abortion procedures are during the first trimester (Lowen). During the first weeks of pregnancy the development of the fetus is a gather of cells, therefore killing cells is not killing an actual person so abortion should not be considered murder.
A mother kills her unborn child because it is unwanted, but she's not charged for murder. Is it right? There is about 46 million abortions per year worldwide, and approximately 115,000 per day, but why? Is it because rape or incest, health problems with either the mother or the child, or just because the baby's unwanted or inconvenient at the time? (The Alan Guttmacher Institute.) Abortion should be banned because too many babies are being killed from abortion, if you don't want a child you could always put it up for adoption, and most mothers don't understand the consequences that occur from abortion.
Abortion has been accepted by the United States of America ever since the monumental Roe vs. Wade case in the early 1970’s, but is still a very controversial issue. Many people are for and against abortions. Some people say that the child inside its mother’s womb deserves the opportunity to live, while others believe that a mother has the right to choose whether or not her fetus can live or die. Other advocates for abortion claim that abortion helps keep the threat of overpopulation down. They also say that in many extreme cases, it is in the best interest of the mother and the child that the fetus be aborted. Abortion helps keep the crime rate low, so it should remain legal, they also say.
First, I feel that abortion should be illegal because it can result in medical complications and also psychological trauma. It can cause premature birth and could also cause a baby to be handicapped in future pregnancies. A woman who has had an abortion is 2.3 times more likely to get cervical, ovarian, and or liver cancer. Abortion is the cause of 47,000 woman’s death yearly. It can cause depression for at
We cannot play God nor be so judgmental when others decide to make a choice that we do not sit comfortably with. They have to live their lives to the fullest and we must do the same. There are many cases where the woman was impregnated due to an assault, and decided to get rid of the child because it brings them so much hurt and pain knowing that this child that has been conceived was unintentional and would bring negative thoughts, behaviors and plenty of aggression to that child later in life. Some decide to keep the child but those that aborted them see that there is still hope for the future even if they do not have this baby at that moment. Some argue that the baby is not really a baby until after twenty-six weeks. The positive out looks of an abortion does not put weight the negative aspects of an abortion. But this does not give us the right to determine someone 's fate or future based off of their choice to abort a child. Many women become rape victims and must then choose to have the child or not and when that person decides to abort the world forgets her damage and begins to condemn. A woman has the choice to be as free as a bird with no cage. This is being described as having freedom to do whatever she wants and achieve her own goals while not living in anyone 's shadow. She could have the abortion but it should not be forced, or she
