Devout. Focused. Charismatic. Passionate. Willing to die for the cause. Superb organizational skills. Imaginative planning. Ability to endure hardships. These words are pulled from a psychological profile of a powerful visionary individual of our time, Osama bin Laden (Ross, 2015). Although bin Laden can be considered a visionary leader, he was not an ethical leader. In this paper I will discuss Osama bin Laden’s traits as a visionary leader, such as his Full Range Leadership trait of Idealized Influence and how it was displayed in his effort to gain followers for Al Qaeda. I will then touch on his Team Dynamics pattern of Advancer and how bin Laden, as a visionary leader, capitalized on this pattern while planning the 9/11 attacks. Next, I will discuss Osama bin Laden’s shortfalls and why he was not considered an ethical leader by falling into the ethical trap of ethical relativism and the …show more content…
The BCEE Student Guide on Ethical Leadership explains that a person falls into the trap of ethical relativism when their definition of right or wrong depends on the prevailing view of a particular individual, culture, or historical period (BCEE, 2016b). Bin Laden’s hatred for the US stemmed from his Muslim views of a proper way of life. Things that we as Americans consider normal and acceptable were considered abhorrent to bin Laden. These relative differences clouded his ability to operate ethically and therefore made him unethical. In his 1996 Declaration of War, bin Laden made the appeal to fight the Muslim infidel, which was construed as any culture that didn’t agree with his fundamentalist Muslim views (Lawrence, 2011). Related to that declaration, he also possessed the critical thinking hindrance of personal biases and prejudices against this infidel
Adolf Hitler, born in 1889, is an Austrian born man who is known for his instigation and participation in the Nazi Political movement, or genocide, known as the Holocaust. Throughout his later life, Hitler spent the majority of his time organizing discriminatory laws that prevented Jewish citizens’ basic rights and ultimately their demise. However, before he advanced such laws and politics, he served as the Head of State, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, until he became the Fuhrer of Germany’s Third Reich which began in 1933 and ended in 1945 (Jewish Virtual Library). His actions were fueled by an unrelenting and strict hate for the Jewish community, better known as anti-Semitism, much like the vast majority of Eastern countries. Both
Likewise, Goodwin illustrates how the use of categorical terrorism can be seem being used by Al-Qaida during the attacks of 9/11. Nonetheless, it is evident that Al-Qaida is unusual in terms of using terrorism to influence the rise of unity rather than trying to overthrow a standing state. For the purpose of instigating a pan-Islamic revolutionary movement, Al-Qaida tries to unite all Islamic people under one state to develop umma, or Muslim community. The logic of Al-Qaida remained that if their “revolutionaries” could illicit a reaction from the powerful US state, resulting in oppression of the middle-eastern region, that Al-Qaida could, as a result, unite all Muslims to counter this suggested oppression. Although the end goal of Al-Qaida clear failed, it does suggest the organization’s attempt at implementing categorical terrorism.
It is a mentality that the majority of American’s applies whether they realize it or not. Individuals according to Steven Handel believes that we implement “The Us vs. Them Mentality” by extension elaborates the mentality that individuals, for instance, Americans, give people who are different than us through race, gender, age, nationality, culture, religion, or socioeconomic status. In his article, The Us vs. Them Mentality: How Group Thinking Can Irrationally Divide Us, Handel maintains that “We see it all the time in politics (Republicans vs. Democrats)” in other words these two groups act irrationally and uncooperative. Consequently, this causes the two groups to be blind and fail to recognize other people’s interests and values. Do we as American’s also fail to recognize the interest or values of a terrorist or do we just assume that they are pure evil? I believe that we fail to recognize a terrorist interests and values. The ends justify the means, but American’s should not ignore these common differences. Americans should be super mindful of the group that we identify ourselves in and the way we view other people because it might have a negative

On September 11, 2001 the world stopped for a moment as two planes flew into the white house. The Pentagon was also hit that day, and a hero saved a plane that was supposed to hit the White House. Americans all over the country were in shock, some knew their loved ones were in the Twin Towers, and hoped that some could make it out alive. Some did, many didn’t, so many precious lives were taken away from innocent humans who thought it was just going to be a normal day at the office. Children are growing up without fathers and mothers, who they will never meet. Whoever did this, needs to be put away, or killed. The man who planned it, Osama Bin Laden was killed on May 2, 2011, 10 years after the terror attacks on the World Trade center that killed many Americans, innocent Americans. Osama bin Laden’s killing was just, and he deserved what he got, there is no doubt in my mind he got what he deserved.
Could a democratic president and a republican president have the same choices but different consequences. Barack Obama is known for the killing of Osama bin laden. George W Busch is the known for when the 9/11 attacks happened in 2001. Both presidents had positive impacts on the United States during 9/11 and after 9/11.
For many years now, people have always wondered what ethical principle is the right one to follow. These individuals are all seeking the answer to the question that the ethical principles are trying to clarify: What defines moral behavior? The Divine Command Theory and the theories of cultural relativism are two principles of many out there that provide us with explanations on what our ethical decisions are based on and what we consider to be our moral compass in life. Even though these two theories make well-supported arguments on why they are the right principle to follow, it is hard to pinpoint which one should guide our choices because of the wide array of ethical systems. Therefore, what is morally right or wrong differs greatly depending

What I learned from is that Osama Bin Laden was persuaded at a really young age that made him be the person who he is today. My query” Why did he wanted to have the war against the United States of America and other western countries.” I found the reason why because he was convinced from an early stage and there was a lot of peer pressure as most people joined to make one Islamic state. I have also found out some new things from doing this research for how Bin Laden created Al -Qaeda, how he was convinced heavily, how he was not a freedom fighter but someone who was a wealthy benefactor like a little conspiracy theory. Some of the things I wish I wanted to know why is why did he createISIS as it is the child organization of Al-Qaeda. Writing this paper, I have learned how to cite my sources, research with extravagant information and organize my ideas into an amazing
“The hunt for KSM: Inside the Pursuit and Takedown of the Real 9/11 Mastermind, Khalid Sheikh Mohammed” by analytical reporters Terry McDermont and Josh Meyer, is an attention-grabbing account of how one of Al Qaeda’s most outstanding terrorist, KSM, took part in one of the deadliest terrorist operations in history. The book includes an intense description of the decade-long determination of the CIA and FBI investigators to the successful capture of KSM and his acquaintances. However, as portrayed by the authors, it took a long time in their pursuit to identify KSM and take him into custody.
The code of ethics are a guide of principles designed to help professionals conduct business honestly and with integrity.1Most organization have codes of ethics that its members are required to follow and it lays out the rules and acceptable behavior of its the members of ethics and which actions are acceptable or not acceptable business practices. Osama Bin Laden was on the FBI’s most wanted list for 10 years. He was responsible for the deaths of thousands of American soldiers and American citizens, as well as the 9/11 terrorist attack. The American Special Forces have been trying to track him down for a long time and have not succeeded, until May 1st, 2011. The mission that killed Bin Laden was called “Operation Neptune Spear” and that mission changed American history forever.
How do you determine what is right or what is wrong? Personally, I feel that from within ourselves, we know when we have done right and when we have done wrong. This may not stop someone from doing wrong, but, within themselves, I believe that they know they are doing wrong. I believe that someone knows when they have hurt someone else feelings or caused harm to someone. Consequently, I do not make up a culture, which has merits on determining right or wrong. Within this report, ethical relativism will be define and discussed how it relates to right and wrong as well as the corruption that I discussed in the previous assignment.
World War II was one of the worst events in human history, but also one of the most influential. For those who dont know, World War II was started by the German Empire, and more specificaly, Adolf Hilter.
