Oprah Winfreyś Successful Career ¨Don't worry about being successful but work toward being significant and the success with naturally follow.¨ - Oprah Winfrey. Oprah was a strong opinion great women. Oprah Winfrey was famous for her great wealth, many accomplishments, and along and still continuing career.(Edberg, Henrik) Oprah Winfrey was a troubled girl and had a tough childhood. Winfrey was born January 29th of 1954 in Kosciusko Mississippi. At the age of six she lived with her mother because her father was in the army and was stationed in Nashville.(Oprah Winfrey Tennessee) She was a undisciplined teen so she went to live with her father at 13. Her father and mother divorced and her father, Vermon re-married to Velma. Therefore, they were hoping that it would be a good influence if she was living under strict supervision. (Oprah Winfrey Britannica) During her childhood she spent most of her time reading and ended up creating a book club and People will remember Winfrey because she was the richest African American in the 20th century. She had her own television show, network, and was a publisher/ producer. In addition, she also opened a 40 million dollar school for disadvantaged girls in South America. ( Winfrey Oprah) Oprah Winfrey will be remembered for being a positive influence and winning the NAACP Image Award of 1990. She got the hope award, has her own magazine, received the presidential medal of freedom, spoke out against child abuse, received the Kennedy Center Honor and Jean Hersholt Humanity Award. (Oprah Winfrey Britannica) Everyone will know her for being a great actress. She has won many awards, was many movie leads such as Charlotte's web, Martin Luther King Jr., The Princess and the Frog, Selma, Lee Daniels, and the Butler.
