Acting as if the oppression directed at women is something that can be dealt with by simply politely asking for equality is what fragile women are expected to do. As if the misogyny embedded in our culture is an uncontrollable inconvenience rather than systematic oppression. After decades of fighting for womens rights, we are supposed to be satisfied that our country has reluctantly given women the most basic rights of representation, that we have finally been deigned to be considered fully human. Unfortunately, we still must fight for equality against the oppression of men. This sought after worker being a white, wealthy, educated, heterosexual male. With this in mind, women are rarely considered for jobs that aren’t considered “sympathetic” or “caring”. This misogynistic old-fashioned way of thinking about women being ‘fragile’ and ‘dependent on men’ is what has been holding back so many bright minds because they were never given the chance. This could be due to those conforming to binary feminine norms, or those who resist the hierarchy of oppression. This is because it is argued that women aren’t the same as men, we do have differences that make us powerful in our own unique ways. Thus bringing the topic of the difference analysis, which believes that equality involves eliminating differences based on sex. This analysis is good in theory because of how women would at least be treated the “same” as men, but then all people would be restricted to the same limiting factors that have been developed long ago. Which is why I believe there should be no (binary) categories at all, because those that don’t put themselves in any-category make it more acceptable to break out of that binary, to disrupt restrictive gender assignments and socialization, to create a more fluid understanding of
