When I was fired from my job in February, 2015, it was then that I decided to go to college. I never thought I could, that I would be able to pass my classes, especially college algebra. Being my first semester I thought it would be for the best that I take traditional college classes on campus. I’m sure, throughout the duration of my degree, I will at some point take an online class or two. Because NPC is a 2 year school, most everyone will have to take a few online courses. 91% of all 2 year colleges offer online courses. In comparison, online and traditional courses both have similarities and differences in flexibility, discipline, and social interaction.
Workplace learning refers to learning or training undertaken in the workplace (Craig 1996). The field of workplace learning is also known as Training and Development, Human Resource Development, Corporate Training and Work and Learning (Craig, 1996; Piskurich at al., 2000; Driscoll et al., 2005; Smith et al., 2006). The traditional context of learning is experiencing a radical change. Teaching and learning are no longer restricted to classrooms (Wang, Wang, & Shee, 2007). The term e-learning refers to the use of electronic devices for learning, including the delivery of content via electronic media such as Internet, audio or video, interactive TV, etcetera. For the purpose of this study, we define “e-learning” as teaching and learning that

Using technology in education for the purpose of better understanding is a positive step taken by most of the schools, colleges and universities all around the world. Technology can play vital role in improving education systems. You can see electronic gadgets and computers being used in schools, colleges and universities. Audio visual tools are developed to teach complex topics to students in fun way. Faiza Abdur Rab, in her articles ‘Recreational Activities vs. Studies’ said that the lifestyle and education had become more competitive as science and technology is progressing (Rab, 2009). This is also helpful in improving the style and standards of living.
Some of the advantages of digital learning are providing a flexible way of education from anytime, anywhere and any place where Internet connection and computers is accessible. It is also an affordable way of learning which reduces travelling cost for coming to classrooms. Students can take the exams and quizzes over the web; even they can submit assignments over the Internet. Instructors can provide all the materials online which in turn no cost for paper and printing. Ernst & Young University had 35% cost decrease because of virtual learning (Hall, 2000).
Beside that“… [that] some U.S. states are now requiring young people to take a least one online course during their schooling” (Loertscher, Koechlin 50). ICT's vital role cannot be ignored in increasing attainment to education as well as preparing better quality education (Gutterman et al, 2009). Education has not been untouched by the pervasive impact of information and communication technology. No doubt that ICT has influenced the quantity and quality of teaching, learning, and research. ICT, in concrete terms can improve teaching and learning via its engaging and interactive content; and it can prepare real opportunities for individualized teaching. ICT has the potential to speed up, enhance, and deepen skills. It motivates and engages students in learning. It also helps to connect school experiences to practices and to develop economic viability for future
The implementation of online learning in many universities has proven to be a successful method of course delivery (Regan, Evmenova, Baker, Jerome, Spencer, Lawson, & Werner, 2012). Dickson-Dean, Galyen, and Moore (2011) proposed that online learning can promote successful learning opportunities for students as well as rewarding benefits for all educational stakeholders. Factors that contribute to the success of online learning include, but are not limited to, flexibility and accessibility, cost reduction, increased retention, and varied learning opportunities (Neely & Tucker, 2010). Online learning and associated technology is becoming increasingly adaptable and can be used to meet the educational needs of all students while providing opportunities for differentiated instruction (Krishnakumar & Kumar, 2011). Online learning provides both students and instructors with opportun...
Today, it is so clear to see many significant changes in the education around the world because of computer. Almost all schools and universities have become involved with computer’s system to provide an appropriate environment for students to study or prepare for classes. For example, Oklahoma State University provides a crucial program called Desire to Learn (D2L) which is an online website made for teachers to post assignments, grades, and other notes related to the courses. And this program is so helpful because it gives students a nice chance to study from home, participate on announced events, or even avoid students from getting in trouble such as receiving email when weather conditions are not good to attend classes. Moreover, in the past students and researchers used to face difficulties to get information and data related to subject. However, nowadays computer makes it easier because of the gigantic data and information that computer has. Computer has a revolutionary influence in enhancing our education.
